The 3 Ms: Mitchell x Marvel x Mondo For The Win!!!

Mondo is a killer poster company. Marvel seems to be doing OK in the comic book industry. And Mike Mitchell is doing his thing in the art world. So when you put the three together, you are going to get gold. And that is what we get from the newest Mondo release. Mike Mitchell was given full run of the Marvel stable of characters to construct a series of 12 x 16 side view portraits, and the results are a mix of surprising and fantastic. In this series he chooses some interesting subjects to say the least. A bunch of X-Men (but not the usual suspects), 2 Daredevil's, and a version of the new Ghost Rider that is just amazing. It is a fun mix, and the pieces all vary in the amounts being produced. You need to follow Mondo on Twitter (click here) all day Tuesday April 29th for release information. I am waiting with anticipation. How about you? And who else would you like to see Mitchell take on in his next series? Check out all the pieces after the jump...

Tales From The Crypt & EC Comics Get The Mondo Treatment...

Some of my earliest horror watching memories came courtesy of Tales From the Crypt on HBO. It was on cable, so they could get away with a bit more than The Twilight Zone or Tales From the Darkside could get away with on network TV. But I was not aware that the show was based on the classic EC horror comics of the 50s and 60s.  As I got older, I gradually discovered these books and just how awesome they were. I have also revisited the original HBO series and it holds up amazingly... great actor, terrific story lines and that creeptastic Crypt Keeper. Now the Crypt Keeper, The Old Witch and The Vault Keeper from the original EC Comics get the Mondo poster treatment, and they are awesome! Check out the full gallery after the jump, and as always follow Mondo on twitter for release information...

Mondo Does It Again... This Time With A LP and Poster For Nacho Vigalando's 'Timecrimes'

Mondo has built a solid reputation for creating cool collectibles and enjoying monster team ups with some of the best properties in the world. So when they do something cool, it is not really that shocking... but yet they continue to outdo themselves with every email announcing their next collaboration. Last month it was their Duck Tales the Videogame posters (we previewed them here), and now they have done it again. They are highlighting the awesomeness of Nacho Vigalando's Timecrimes, one of the greatest time travel movies I have ever seen. This underrated and not-seen-nearly-enough film is one of the greatest gems I have ever discovered on Netflix Instant (stream it now!). Now Mondo is upping the cool quotient of this film by releasing a vinyl LP (I know a bunch of kids are like "WTF is that???") of the soundtrack that was put together by Eugenio Mira. The artwork of the LP cover (interior fold out and exteriors covers) provided by We Buy Your Kids. They have also created a poster (duh... it's Mondo) based on the artwork of the record. Both will be announced for sale on Mondo's Twitter account today (Friday, Sept. 27th) at some random time... so click here and follow them to get the alert if you want to own this piece of vinyl or the poster. As per usual, they will sell out super quick. So get on it son! Check out the detailed pics after the jump... and watch this movie ASAP if you haven't already!

Mondo Goes To Duckburg...

Mondo has plenty of interesting posters coming out of their operation in Texas, but sometimes I see what they have as an upcoming release and I get very excited. Today was one of those days, as they have teamed up with Disney to help promote the release of 'Duck Tales: Remastered'. DT: Remastered is a re-engineered version of the 1989 classic Ninetendo video game that is being released on all the major platforms (Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and Wii U). It will be an upgraded version of the classic game, featuring new voice transfers from original cast members of the TV show. As a huge fan of the original cartoon and someone who has logged in many hours on the NES game I am very excited, and was blown away by the four posters that Mondo created to celebrate the re-release of the game. The usual suspects are here for Mondo (Phantom City Creative, JJ Harrison, Anne Benjamin, and DKNG) and there are two variant editions also... but the price point on these are a bit lower than usual Mondo posters (until they get to Ebay... yeesh!). Click here to head over to the Mondo twitter and see if you can score some of these great posters (they will go on sale sometime on Wed Aug 28th), and click after the jump for a nice preview of the posters and a trailer for the new game...

The Lost Boys by Phantom City Creative

I have long been a fan of the 80s classic The Lost Boys. As far as I am concerned it is one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. But I have to admit that I was completely stunned by the awesomeness that is Phantom City Creative's newest creation for Mondo in celebration of the film. Plus if you are a true 80s baby you gotta love the transformed vampire bat that is sporting a young Jack Bauer's earing. This is a fantastic poster that is already sold out at Mondo (of course), but can be picked up on Ebay. Get in there....

V for Vendetta by Cesar Moreno

Damn, Damn, DAMN YOU Mondo!!! The Texas based poster juggernauts are at it again and have just released a killer V for Vendetta poster that highlights the fire at Larkhill aspect of the story, one of my favorite scenes in the film version. It also forms the Guy Fawkes mask, which will always be associated with the story forever.Even though Alan Moore may not have liked the way the film version turned out, original artist for the series David Lloyd enjoyed it very much and told me so when I met him back at this years NY Comic Con. Artist Cesar Moreno knocked this one out of the park. It was made available yesterday, so get over to the Mondo web store Asap if you want any hope of scoring one of these for you own personal collection. You can see the piece after the jump....

Mondo Movie Posters by We Buy Your Kids

Mondo always brings the funk on any posters they release... they won't put the Mondo name on it if it is not a killer poster. But whenever they bring in some fresh artists I always take notice. This week we are seeing 4 movie posters being released by We Buy Your Kids through Mondo and they are all spectacular. There has to be something said about the selection of the films as well. You have a classic 80s flick in Beetlejuice, a hit iconic horror movie in A Nightmare In Elm Street, a cult classic Italian horror film in Deep Red, and an Arnie barbarian movie in Conan... how eclectic is that? Each poster is fantastic in their own rights, so click here to get more details on each one and when they will be officially on sale. As usuall with Mondo, there is a limited amount of each of these so stay on top of it if you want one for your personal collection. Check out all four after the jump...

Jurassic Park by Kevin Tong

Over the past few days I have been encountering the Jurassic Park property at every turn. First I can't seem to turn on my TV without seeing the movie on HBO. Next I take my son to Chuck E Cheese & they have the old Jurassic Park coin-op game that we played together, laughing at the moving seat and high excitement. And then I get an email from Mondo that says artist extraordinaire Kevin Tong is all set to release his Jurassic Park print, and once I set eyes on it I knew I had to put it on CCD. It was perfectly executed and just another spectacular poster from the guys who do it best. Check out the full pic after the jump...

The Goonies by Randy Ortiz

Whenever the new Mondo poster gets released I always tend to enjoy seeing them but hesitate posting them here on CCD because they get plastered over each and every website around the Internet. But when I saw Randy Ortiz's newest creation for The Goonies I flipped out... it looks spectacular and really play up some of the coolest aspects of the film, such as One Eyed Willy & The Waterfall. This poster is so awesome and I just had to get it up here. Mondo keeps their track record going... so perfect!!! This one goes on sale tomorrow, so keep track of when by following Mondo on Twitter. Check out the full size poster after the jump....

Game of Thrones by Martin Ansin

While I don't plan on dwelling on too much that happened at SD Comic Con this past weekend (check out the sites who actually sent people... the ones I am jealous of!!!!) I have to bring certain things to the attention of the CCD readers. Mondo is cool as shit, and to prove this one step further they did three Game of Thrones related posters specifically for the show. While all three of them were really quite cool, Martin Ansin's poster has to be the best of the bunch. It features an excellent portrayal of the House Sigils of the Lannisters, the Baratheons, and the Starks all doing battle. I really love the symbolism in this piece... really cool stuff. You can check out the other two Game of Thrones posters by clicking here, and you can see Ansin's piece in all it's glory after the jump.

Evil Dead: An Animated Tribute

The Evil Dead franchise is one of the most important sets of films in my cinematic life. The reasons are actually quite complex. The slapstick style of the horror presented by Sam Raimi in the three films made the horror genre much more accessible and easier to accept for me as a youngster. Also, it introduced me to the wonderful work of Sam Raimi, and would lead to the genius eventually making the Spider-Man trilogy. And finally it allowed me to fall in love with Ash, one of the greatest heroes ever portrayed by the one & only Bruce Campbell!!! Olly Moss (the one above) created an cool poster for Mondo back in 2010, and that poster helped inspire this unreal minute & a half animated clip from Daniel Kanemoto that commemorates all three films in the series. This one will take fans of the series back down memory lane!!! See the clip after the jump...

'Paths of Glory' by Jay Shaw For Mondo

Mondo makes some killer posted, most of which get posted all over the Internet on many sites similar to mine. That is partially the reason why I don't go crazy re-posting them, because you have probably seen it elsewhere. But they have and up and coming artist (who has been around for a minute but is gaining momentum as the premiere guy at Mondo) Jay Shaw (aka Iron Jaiden) who is doing incredible things with the opportunities he is given. One of his most recent posters has to be his take on Stanley Kubrick's 'Path's of Glory', which is one of the greatest war movies ever made starring Kirk Douglas. Douglas ended up picking Kubrick to replace the director in Spartacus because of what he saw in the young film maker, and that launched him into the stratosphere as a Hollywood legend. It all started on 'Paths of Glory', and Jay Shaw brings a great poster to commerce a excellent film.

Mondo Takes On Some Horror Classics For Texas Frightmare Weekend

Mondo recruits the best artists to create the coolest movie posters in the game. That is not debatable. I usually don't even bother posting Mondo posters when they are released. I do not post them not because they suck, but more along the lines that they are usually covered by EVERY BLOG ON THE PLANET since they are so awesome. But when the company focuses its energy on an event like Texas Frightmare Weekend and some  of the horror genres (my fave!) classic films.... well, these are certainly getting posted!!! Enjoy this years five entries and make sure you click on the artist links under each picture to see more of their works.

Mondo Lends John Carter A Bit Of Credibility, And They Do It In True Cool Poster Fashion

March 9th. What a great day. Not only will I be celebrating the life of the greatest rapper of all time who died way to soon (R.I.P. Biggie!), but I will finally get to see Edgar Rice Burrough's classic Barsoom series on the big screen!!! Given that this is the characters 100 year anniversary and that these stories featuring John Carter are the building blocks for movies like Star Wars, Alien, and Avatar... Well, quite frankly ITS ABOUT TIME!!! In order to commemorate the event Mondo has teamed up with artist JC Richards to produce a poster for the event, but unlike most Mondo prints this one will not be on sale in a quick run... it will be GIVEN away at select IMAX screenings of the film. This poster is just stunning, and it really captures the vastness of the Barsoom world that I am hoping to see in Andrew Stanton's film. Now I am really in. See you guys on line March 8th at around 11 Pm.... click after the jump to see the poster.

Today, Alamo Drafthouse Goes Ape...

Alamo Drafthouse & Mondo always bring it when they collaborate with artists to construct a new poster project.Whether the subject is old school (like the killer Gremlins posters) or new school (their Once Upon A TIme series), the artists always hit a home run for the best team in the game. Last night I got an email featuring the newest series to come out of the Texas based powerhouse, and the subject is a classic: Planet of the Apes!!!! Check out FIVE different posters that are part of the set. All  five will be available as a set tomorrow (Thursday 1/26) and individually on Friday (1/27)... but the time is not released as of yet. You gotta follow Mondo on Twitter (click here) for the exact release info. If you buy all 5, you get the "Go Ape" poster from Jason Edmiston for free! Can Mondo Get Any Cooler??? Yup, They Can!!!

I have always been a fan of the Mondo crew, the guys who create posters in conjunction with the Alamo Drafthouse. They always seem to make rediculously awesome posters and work with some of the greatest artists in the game. That said, last year they worked with artist Aaron Horkey on a print for the new re-make of True Grit. That poster was amazing... but even though it was great, the gang at Mondo have taken it one step further. They decided to do a laser engraved wood carving using the Horkey poster as a blue print. Wow... wow. Click after the jump for pics and a video of the whole process...
