Tales From The Crypt & EC Comics Get The Mondo Treatment...

Some of my earliest horror watching memories came courtesy of Tales From the Crypt on HBO. It was on cable, so they could get away with a bit more than The Twilight Zone or Tales From the Darkside could get away with on network TV. But I was not aware that the show was based on the classic EC horror comics of the 50s and 60s.  As I got older, I gradually discovered these books and just how awesome they were. I have also revisited the original HBO series and it holds up amazingly... great actor, terrific story lines and that creeptastic Crypt Keeper. Now the Crypt Keeper, The Old Witch and The Vault Keeper from the original EC Comics get the Mondo poster treatment, and they are awesome! Check out the full gallery after the jump, and as always follow Mondo on twitter for release information...

Minimalist Disney Attraction Posters

Disney gets it. They totally understand marketing and have for years. Maybe that is just a small reason on why the company has been so epically successful in getting customers in the doors. But the coolest part about the company is that they are totally open to exploring different aspects of marketing... especially when it comes concocting posters to promote their attractions. Check out these minimalist posters (which are all the rage) that appear over at the Disney & More blogspot page. They really capture the essence of the classic Disney rides and put a fresh spin on these old faithful rides. It is good to see that Disney is consistently trying to look for new ways to market their products, even though the rep that they have now is probably big enough just to coast on. Either way, any visitor who has been to Disney will love these posters. Check out all 5 after the jump...

All 80 Original Episodes Of Star Trek Get Their Own Posters by Juan Ortiz

Juan Ortiz is a die hard Star Trek fan. And he really loves the original series. I mean a lot. He likes them so much he decided to immortalize each of the 80 episodes into their own posters, and he used a Saul Bass type influence to make them era appropriate. These are a real treat, especially for any real Trek fan that can recognize the elements of each particular episode in each poster. So well done and original. There is a book of all the posters available over at Amazon for $25 bucks, and you can see them and much more over at Juan's Tumblr. Check out my faves after the jump...

Mondo Goes To Duckburg...

Mondo has plenty of interesting posters coming out of their operation in Texas, but sometimes I see what they have as an upcoming release and I get very excited. Today was one of those days, as they have teamed up with Disney to help promote the release of 'Duck Tales: Remastered'. DT: Remastered is a re-engineered version of the 1989 classic Ninetendo video game that is being released on all the major platforms (Xbox Live, Playstation Network, and Wii U). It will be an upgraded version of the classic game, featuring new voice transfers from original cast members of the TV show. As a huge fan of the original cartoon and someone who has logged in many hours on the NES game I am very excited, and was blown away by the four posters that Mondo created to celebrate the re-release of the game. The usual suspects are here for Mondo (Phantom City Creative, JJ Harrison, Anne Benjamin, and DKNG) and there are two variant editions also... but the price point on these are a bit lower than usual Mondo posters (until they get to Ebay... yeesh!). Click here to head over to the Mondo twitter and see if you can score some of these great posters (they will go on sale sometime on Wed Aug 28th), and click after the jump for a nice preview of the posters and a trailer for the new game...

What Type Of Geek Are You???

There are many different kind of geeks out there... that is not debatable. The thing that makes geeks so cool is their love of 'certain' specific things. They may overlap, but no real geek is an across the board geek. They specialize. Take Scott Johnson's '56 Geeks' poster as an example. Johnson uses graphics to illustrate 56 types of geeks and how they usually appear (or would like to appear if they had their druthers!). The Cosplay, Tron & Apple geeks are my faves. I fit in about 10 of these categories for sure. This is a great poster, but Johnson has much more cool shit over at his Frogpants store for sale. This one goes for 12.99. That is not bad for a 12 x 18 poster. Click after the jump for the full size poster...

JLA Quote Posters

I found these bad boys over at Cal's Canadian Cave of Cool, and boy are they fantastic. They take some of the best members of the Justice League of America and uses some key quotes from the characters history. Most of the quotes come from the comics (the issue #'s are cited... cool), but Batman's comes from The Dark Knight Rises. These are great posters. Love the abstract nature of them, and the quotes are perfectly fitting for each. Check 'em all out after the jump...

Electric Zombie Takes On The WWF/E In Honor Of Wrestlemania

My boy Johnny over at Freddy In Space keeps me in the loop about all things horror, especially when it comes to cool ass horror themed merchandise. But I am most upset with myself for overlooking the fact that my man Johnny was at Wrestlemania 29 this weekend and we didn't meet up!!! I am trying to get all my pics in order to make a Wrestlemania 29 post for CCD (hopefully by next Monday), but on my most recent trip over to Freddy In Space Johnny shared some awesome WWF/E wrestling themed t-shirts and posters from Electric Zombie. Now even though most of their merch deals with horror, the guys at EZ obviously love their old school wrasslin' and dig deep to come up with some horrorific versions of familiar wrestlers and events throughout the years. I love the Royal rumble poster, and the Brett Hart shirt is super boss. All in all, a cool ass line that coincides with a great event. Get over to Electric Zombie right now and order you faves, as well as much more horror merchandise that they have to offer. Check out my faves after the jump...

Game of Thrones by Martin Ansin

While I don't plan on dwelling on too much that happened at SD Comic Con this past weekend (check out the sites who actually sent people... the ones I am jealous of!!!!) I have to bring certain things to the attention of the CCD readers. Mondo is cool as shit, and to prove this one step further they did three Game of Thrones related posters specifically for the show. While all three of them were really quite cool, Martin Ansin's poster has to be the best of the bunch. It features an excellent portrayal of the House Sigils of the Lannisters, the Baratheons, and the Starks all doing battle. I really love the symbolism in this piece... really cool stuff. You can check out the other two Game of Thrones posters by clicking here, and you can see Ansin's piece in all it's glory after the jump.
