There are many different kind of geeks out there... that is not debatable. The thing that makes geeks so cool is their love of 'certain' specific things. They may overlap, but no real geek is an across the board geek. They specialize. Take Scott Johnson's '56 Geeks' poster as an example. Johnson uses graphics to illustrate 56 types of geeks and how they usually appear (or would like to appear if they had their druthers!). The Cosplay, Tron & Apple geeks are my faves. I fit in about 10 of these categories for sure. This is a great poster, but Johnson has much more cool shit over at his Frogpants store for sale. This one goes for 12.99. That is not bad for a 12 x 18 poster. Click after the jump for the full size poster...

What Type Of Geek Are You???

A Game of Groans: A Rant by Joe Esq
I tend not to consider myself the typical geek. I AM a geek, no question about it... I can quote Star Wars verbatim, I have an encylclopedic knowledge of 80's toys, TV, movies and music, and I love comic books and wrestling. But I tend to downplay that aspect of my personality to all but those who really know me. I try to stay well rounded and not let my geekiness dominate my personality. And lets face it, when I say I'm not typical, I mean I'm also in great shape, have an active, healthy social life, and girls absolutely ADORE me (no really, they DO). If you were casting the role of a geeky character in a movie, he certainly wouldn't look or act like me, that's for sue. And I admit, I do tend to keep my geeky tendencies a bit closeted sometimes on purpose, because other geeks freak me out a little. I'm also a lawyer, and sometimes, just for fun, I like to take a less popular stance just for the joy of arguing it (and also because being a nudge and pushing people's buttons amuses the hell outta me). So its with a great level of discomfort that I'm forced to say unequivocally that I HATE this season of Game of Thrones. And I hate that I do. I want to love this show. I want to keep giving it the benefit of the doubt because its presenting a genre I love in a medium where more people will see and appreciate it and most of all, I don't want to be the typical geek ranting abouthow STUPID HBO IS WRECKING EVERYTHING HOW DARE THEY CHANGE MY BELOVED NERD NOVELS ROOAAAARRHULKSMASH!! But the fact remains, the writers are just changing too much stuff from the source material and over the course of this season its had an absolutely jarring effect, tearing me right out watching the show and taking a wrecking ball to my ability to enjoy it.
Be forewarned, there are heavy spoilers ahead. Well, for the novels anyway. Lord knows what the producers of the show have planned, but its starting to become obvious to me that TV series is slowly becoming "based on the novels by George R R. Martin" the same way Ghostbusters was based on the 70's TV series with the gorilla.

Coolest parents.... EVER!!!!!
Here is my current nominee for parents of the year: This couple decided that their child needed a really cool playroom... so they used a REAL wardrobe, made a hole in the wall behind it that lead to another room, and created a Narnia right there in their house!!!! This is the coolest thing I have ever seen... wow!!! You also have to go over to Reddit where the pics were posted to read some of the funny comments that were left in relation to this project. Check my personal favorite quote and pics of the project after the jump...

This Is What The Windows Look Like At The United Church Of Geek!!!
Artist Marissa Garner knows just how fanatical geeks can be, and knows that some of them worship their beloved characters as if they were religious figures. So she decided to do some awesome stained glass portraits featuring some geek culture heavies (Optimus Prime, Spidey, Professor X, and Batman) and their supporting characters. Now if the windows look like this at my local church, I might just pop in a bit more than once a year. You can see more of Marissa's work here and buy some of these prints at her Etsy shop by clicking here. All hail the geek stained glass.... after the jump!

Little Big Planet 2 Is Finally Used For Something Great...
I myself have never payed, and will never play, 'Little Big Planet' for any video game system at all. Just not my thing. But who am I to criticize some other fellow nerds out there who like creating stuff from this game. Kudos to them. God knows I have some hobbies and nerd allegiances that would raise a few eyebrows (as I hide my Harry Potter box set under my Cloak of Invisibility). Anywho, my man Dracudelishio uses 'Little Big Planet' to create scenes from great movies amd nerd properties that we all love, and they are amazing. Need proof that 'Little Big Planet' can be cool??? Check after the jump for Dracudelishio's re-creation of Watchmen using LBP 2... it is insane!!!
