80's Monster Claymation by Trent Shy

I have been missing my main man Johnny's website Freddy In Space since he has taken the blog off the Net, but am really happy for him considering that he has become a full time writer for bigger horror sites like Fear Net and the like... it is kind of bittersweet. But I do think it is pretty dope that he is writing for the big fellas... and I try to check in on the gems he is dropping as often as I can. One of those gems came in the form of an excellent video that he put up this week from Trent Shy. It is a claymation video that highlights some of the greatest moments in horror movies from the 80s, which in my opinion is the greatest decade of horror movies ever! There are some really great depictions in the clip, my favorite probably being Belial from Basket Case. What a forgotten classic... great find Johnny! The Lost Boys by Phantom City Creative

I have long been a fan of the 80s classic The Lost Boys. As far as I am concerned it is one of the greatest vampire movies ever made. But I have to admit that I was completely stunned by the awesomeness that is Phantom City Creative's newest creation for Mondo in celebration of the film. Plus if you are a true 80s baby you gotta love the transformed vampire bat that is sporting a young Jack Bauer's earing. This is a fantastic poster that is already sold out at Mondo (of course), but can be picked up on Ebay. Get in there....

Hobbits Be Crazy: Check Out Elijah Wood In The New Trailer For 'Maniac'

'Maniac' was one of the craziest movies ever made, and way back in 1980 helped jump start the slasher genre. The movie had iconic VHS box art and was a staple of any horror fan who rented movies from their local mom & pop video shop. The unique Point Of View shots and the awesome early special effects of Tom Savini all made the film quite perfect. So when I heard that they were going to remake the film, as a true horror fan I was a little skeptical. Especially when they added the hobbit man himself Elijah Wood as the title character... how the fuck was Frodo going to scare anybody? Well, one way to get this one right is to add Alejandre Aja to the mix as a producer. The guy is one of the few people in the horror industry who gets it, and has a very strong tie to the original films in this classic genre. The second thing to do would be to release a red band trailer showing Mr. Wood acting "Maniacal"... and holy shit it works!!! Ghoulies by Monster Cola

I was just flipping through the billion cable channels I have (and still can't find anything to watch) when I stumbled upon the late 80's crapfest gem that is Ghoulies II. This film is a terrible sequel to a cheestastic film from the 80s that I absolutely love. In the first film, little demonic creatures are summoned from beyond to make things difficult for a young Mariska Hargitay. But the reason why any real "80's Baby" who spent time in a Mom & Pop video store knows the film is because of the box art that features one of said Ghoulies popping out of a toilet. The box art is iconic and I know anytime I hear a reference to the 1985 film or any of its terrible sequels (there were four... FOUR!!!) it is all I can think of. So i decided to hit the ole Deviant Art network of artists in search for a good recreation. It was the only thing I could do to stop myself from watching the horrible sequel that is on Encore as we speak. Look what I turned up from Monster Cola after the jump...
