CCD Meets Sean Hamilton,... Live In Artist Alley @ The 2012 NY Comic Con

So in my travels down the aisles of the 2012 NY Comic Con I saw lots of very unique art. But few were able to execute a high concept like my man Sean Hamilton. Sean is an artist that mashes up classic pop culture characters with some of the dopest sneakers on the planet earth... and sometimes even out of this world (see the R2-D2 x Galaxy Foamposite mashup!). Lots of guys do Mario art, but who puts Mario into a pair of Air Jordan 11's to kick some Koopa Troopa ass? Leave that to my man Sean. Sean is a sneaker head like myself, with over three hundred pairs in his personal collection, and he is including all of the best Nike & the like has to offer with some of the most recognizable characters in your life. Michonne from Walking Dead checks in with some Air Jordan 1's on. Walter White gets the Wu Tang Wallabee Clarke treatment. Storm bust out some fresh Yeezy 2s. The possibilities never really end... Back To The Skrillex

College Humor never fails in making me chuckle a bit, even if I hate the thing they use to make their joke. I am not a huge fan of Skrillex, the electronic music superstar who is one of the biggest live performers in music right now. But I can get behind a parody of the Enchantment of the Sea dance from Back to the Future featuring electronic music instead of a Chuck Berry song... great idea, executed well. 'Parkinsons Katie... Really?'

I love searching the Web for original content, but every once and a while it is nice to gte a little help from your friends. Thanks to my main Jamaican brother from another mother Sam 'Big Game' James I have unearthed a little gem called 'After Hours' which airs on Cracked.com. It is a impromptu discussion group that consists of four friends who are eating at a diner and talking about some cool movie facts. The first episode is wonderful, in which they break down why Back to the Future is actually a truly horrifying film. The gang make some great points, and they will definitely make you crack a smile a few times when you think just how inappropriate and ridiculous the classic film actually is. Not to mention that the female contributor, Katie Millers, has a certain nerd chic thing going for her that makes me tingle in my nether regions. There are a ton of these videos over at Cracked, but this was the one that started it all. Pretty funny all the way around....   

This Back To The Future Mod Makes me Want To Play Grand Theft Auto For The First Time In Years...

I haven't really played many games outside of the realm of super hero games like Ultimate Avengers & Batman or sports games in the past 5 years. But I do remember the good old days of Grand Theft Auto and just how crazy it could be. When you add in Marty McFly, the Delorean, and the ability to travel throughout time into the equation and you are in for one sweet treat. I come across many artists who ply their wares on the Net, but the thing I love to do most is to then visit the artist's particular personal page and see what else they got cooking. Did Michael J Fox Show Up In His DeLorean???

Marty McFly is back in action... well, kinda. This past weekend was a charity event called "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To A Cure For Parkinson's" that is held by Michael J Fox's foundation. At the event, Mike dusted off his old six string and busted out his best duck walk as he joined the band in playing Johnny B Goode. It might not have been as good as the Enchantment Under the Sea performance, but it is good to see the guy still got some moves. Click after the jump for some video from the evening.

The DeLorean Gets Some Swanky Re-Designs Over At Worth 1000

Worth 1000 is an excellent graphic/digital art website that sponsors many contests and challenges for artists to re-design or re-imagine iconic people, places, and things. The contest that caught my eye first (there are so many galleries!!!) was the contest concerning The DeLorean from the Back to the Future trilogy. Contestants were asked to re-imagine the classic dull grey exterior of the DeLorean to better reflect other popular cars and vehicles from the past. These are just wonderful. It looks like Threadless just closed it's Summer Challenge but, there's quite a few unique designs with some time left on their voting clocks.


'Super Maui O' covers all the bases on a vacation themed plumber's holiday. Check out Starman's one-piece bathing suit...and Bullet Bill hanging ten.

I'm pretty sure there's no plausible science behind 'Surf to the Future'...but I like the design.

The evil Shredder has gotten into the warm weather fun in 'Turtle Trap'...."get 'em while they're young," I always say. ;)

...and speaking of traps, 'Captured' has the reds right where the green troops want 'em! I MUST have this T-Shirt. I MUST!!!

'Summer War' stirs up the nostalgia of a time inwhich all things could be settled with a full water pistol.

I'd most likely NEVER where these next two designs but, I LOVE their concepts and they gave me a chuckle.

First up, 'Bloodnade' serves up some human for a change.

...and 'Summer Surprise' draws back the trenchcoat to reveal the sun's naughty truth.

'Siren's Song' feels like summer with this delicious take on a famous 'Little Mermaid' or one bearing it's teeth in the latest installment of 'Pirates of the Caribbean'. Sexy-ass Fish!

Finally, who says Sith have no fun? 'Darth Summer' got Vader all decked out for the heatwave.

2 Different Links To The Zelda Franchise.... See What I Did There?

Because I used the word Link in the title of a post about Zelda.... get it? I am so witty. Anywho, here is a piece of Fan Art and a video featuring the Zelda characters that is sure to scratch the itch you may have waiting for a new Zelda adventure worthy of this storied franchise.

First up, we got 'The Final Boss' by deviant artist Tsaoshin. It features a treu to scale look at just how much the odds were stacked against Link when he defeated Gannon on Death Mountain back in the day. That's one strong ass triforce!!!

I only have one beef: I see Links sword and a triforce, but where are the arrows that you need to kill Gannon? If you went against him without them, you were doomed to fail and couldn't beat him, right???

Next up, here is a "Link To The Future", a fan made video that does an excellent job of mixing up the Zelda franchise and Back To The Future. This one is excellent. See for yourself.



How great was that? Doc Brown: "You gotta come back with me" Link: "Wait, what... I just got here!". Very well done. Great job guys. Hope these helped you gte your Hyrule fix.
