Drive For Sega Genesis... Wait, What?

I love when modern TV shows and films are given the 8 bit Nintendo/ 16 bit Sega/Super Nintendo treatment. It is old hat now, but still pretty cool. Youtuber Gunderson Munderson seems to have nailed it with his rendition of one of my more recent favorite films, Drive. He gets the vibe of the movie down with his buildings, and with his music choice (which, according to his notes on the Youtube vid was created with the same Yamaha music emulator that was used for all Genesis games). Very cool indeed... I would play the shit out of this game. Check out the video after the jump...

Rated G - An Animated Art Show By Justin White

Gallery 1988 is back at it again... well, they have been back at it since November 16th and I am just a bit late to the party. Justin White is running an art show at the Gallery entitled 'Rated G' in which he imagines some of his favorite movies as if they were animated classics. There is only problem... these are not the kind of movies that lend themselves to the animated format. They are gore filled, action induced, crazy ass cult flicks that look even freakier when they are animated. This is a world I would love to live in...

Dr. Mierzwiak Takes On Movie Posters With His Own Unique Style

I come across many artists who ply their wares on the Net, but the thing I love to do most is to then visit the artist's particular personal page and see what else they got cooking. After seeing Dr. Mierzwiak's cool ass Avengers poster over at /Film, I decided to see what else the dude had to offer. I stumbled over to his Deviant Art page and found a treasure trove of film posters that are phenomenal. Notebook Nerd: Ball Point Pen Drawings by Jim Rugg

When I was a kid in school I often doodled in my notebook. I drew on the cover of my binder, the dividers inside it, any pretty much anything else I could. Artist Jim Rugg seems to have had the same habit... but fortunately for all of us Jim Rugg is far better at it than I was. In fact Jim's notebook sketches are so good that he is having his own art show featuring his notebook drawings. Wow. All of these pieces  are created in ball point pen and loose leaf paper. These Faux Movie Posters by Peter Stults Remind Me Of Something...

... oh yeah, that's right... they are eeirily similar to what our friend Sean Hartter has made famous over on his blog! Damn Sean, two mentions in one day! Lol.... anyway, these faux movie posters are pretty boss, and I only decided to post them because Stults himself (click here for original article) gave my boy Hartter props on inspiring the idea:

"Awhile back a friend of mine forwarded me a site (http://hartter.blogspot.com/2009/11/misc.html) where artist Sean Hartter made posters of films that, title wise, we were familiar with, but there was a slight difference; they were remade as if they belonged to a different era or a different genre, the name of the movie was there, but the actors were different, the style was different, and I loved the concept. So I went forward with this theme; what if movies we were all familiar with were made in a different slice of time? Who would be in it? Who would direct it? So here we are..."

Amazing Spider Man #50 Gets A Drive Re-Design By Artist Nick Felvideki

The Amazing Spider Man #50 and it's cover by John Romita are legendary to all comic book geeks around the world. It is one of the most iconic covers ever. But given that everyone EXCEPT Oscar nominee voters has been completely obsessed with Ryan Gosling's portrayal of the stunt man in Drive, artist Nick Felvideki decided to incorporate this into his re-design. The results are epic. Seriously, how the fuck was Drive not nominated for Best Picture. At the very least Christina Hendricks should have been nominated for Best Juggs in an Dramatic Performance... wait, what??? Click after the jump for the original and Felvideki's re-design...

Mick Minouge Creates A 'Drive' Inspired Version Of Operation... Baby Goose FTW!!!!

I can't get enough Baby Goose, aka Ryan Gosling, in my life. I have always liked him as an actor... even back to his teen age "Murder By Numbers" days. The kid just had something about him. But in the last few years he is really jumping into the role of full blown movie star, and the culmination of this had to be his epic performance in 'Drive'. I thought 'Drive ' was one of the better movies this past year, and from the amount of fan art based on Gosling's character lots of artists feel the same way. Need proof? Check out this very original redux of the classic board game 'Operation' by artists Mike Minogue, but instead of your classic patient you have to remove items related to the movie from Mr. Gosling's body. Scorpion by Dann Matthews

Check out this really meta and cool mash-up by Dann Matthews which portrays Scorpion from Mortal Kombat fame as Ryan Gosling's "Driver" character. If you haven't seen this awesome flick yet, Gosling's character wears a jacket with a scorpion on it. Very cool concept for a mash-up. Nice job Dann. See the pic in full size after the jump...
