'The Movie Trailer For Miami Connection' Proves That Great Things Can Come Many years After They Are Made... Even 80's Rock n Roll Ninjas!!!!

I love it when a plan comes together... especially if it comes together 25 years after the inception of the idea. 'Miami Connection' is a shitty 1987 Kung Fu movie that combines ridiculous haircuts, terrible fight scenes, silly decapitations & dismemberment, and a synth rock back story that never saw much of the light of day. Then Jason Eisner, director of Hobo with a Shotgun, bought a copy of the film on Ebay for 50 bucks and decided to re-edit the film for Drafthouse Films. The result is a completely new movie that is about to be released at Fantastic Fest this year and may be coming to a indy theater near you. (Landmark Sunshine Cinemas in NYC on Nov 2nd & 3rd) Holy shit does this look nuts. Ghostbusters: 1900 by Dr. FaustusAU

These pictures of what the Ghostbusters would have looked like if they were fighting ghosts back in 1900 are just wonderful. Artist Dr. FaustusAU absolutely kills the design on these, and you have to love the horse drawn wagon replacing the sleek white Ecto 1. I love the details and just had to post this set up. Star Wars High by Denis Medri

While Star Wars is plodding on as a franchise, I certainly would be open to seeing some of its characters re-interpreted in other situations. How about as an 80's High School sitcom? Yup, I would love to see that for sure! These sketches from artist Denis Medri portray a world that I certainly would love to see on a TV screen. I love how he humanizes the no-human characters (like the Droids, Jaba & Chewy). And the Dark Side as a motorcycle gang? Perfect Idea!!!! Palette Swap: Artists Recreating Iconic Video Game Box Art In Their Own Unique Styles

I am a true 80's baby, and this makes me a person who experienced the true first era of home video games Now I know their were home video game systems before the 80s (Atari, Intelivision, Collico Vison, etc), but in reality these systems were clearly overshadowed by their coin operated arcade counterparts... that was up until Nintendo changed the game forever with the release of Robbie the Robot, Gyromite & Duck Hunt back in 1984/5. Then came Genesis, Neo Geo, Turbo Grafix 16, and many more systems who gave us the unique opportunity to play fine crafted video games at home. These games had to come in packaging, and that packaging became a part of our lives as gamers... plus the images on the cover helped sell the games in the years before Internet preview & game play videos. I totally remember buying games that were total shit just because they had some cool ass cover art. So when I stumbled upon a cool new website called Palette Swap, I was completely enthralled. Here current artists take on some of the iconic images from video game boxes of the past and make it their own, adding unique little twists to make them amazing. I also like that the blog includes the original art as well for a comparison... very cool idea. 'Premakes: The Avengers' by Ivan Guerrero

Ivan Guerrero is a talented filmmaker who you probably never heard of. We are trying to change that by posting some of his really cool works of film here on CCD. Guerrero constructs what he calls "Premakes", or re-imagings of existing films using old black & white b movie footage. What makes these films so awesome has to be the fact that he tells the story perfectly despite the fact he had to dig through a ton of old footage to do so.   Today we are taking a look at his take on the Avengers, and given the fact that we are on the cusp of the live action film's release it seems fitting. Inspector Gadget VHS Box Art by Sean Hartter

I hate to keep jerking on Sean Hartter's nutsack, but my man keeps putting out quality re-imaginings and mash-ups daily and he deserves to be recognized. The kid just has an amazing eye for details and always finds very creative ways to portray classic properties that all of us nerds love. Today he features a mecha suit version of Inspector Gadget that is super cool, and it even features the DIC tagline of the company responsible for bringing the good old Inspector to our afternoon cartoon programming. Amazing Spider Man #50 Gets A Drive Re-Design By Artist Nick Felvideki

The Amazing Spider Man #50 and it's cover by John Romita are legendary to all comic book geeks around the world. It is one of the most iconic covers ever. But given that everyone EXCEPT Oscar nominee voters has been completely obsessed with Ryan Gosling's portrayal of the stunt man in Drive, artist Nick Felvideki decided to incorporate this into his re-design. The results are epic. Seriously, how the fuck was Drive not nominated for Best Picture. Set awesome. Check out artist Bryan Lenning's re-imagining of each of the James Bond film's titles in pictogram format. These are quite clever and some of them are not completely simple to figure out. Fun stuff... check out the full sized version after the jump.

The Harry Potter Crew... Anime Style!!!

I am of the opinion that the Harry Potter movie series is the best overall collection of related movies in the history of cinema. Yup, its true. Only The Lord Of The Rings trilogy comes close. Why, you ask? Because each and every film in the series is fantastic and grows the franchise. Almost all other series have missteps along the way... but not HP. Due to it's overwhelming awesomeness, you are going to get some weird re-imaginings of the cast courtesy of fans all across the world. Artist Profile: Flaviano

We post a lot of artist's works from around the world. Many different countries have seen their work portrayed here on this site. To my knowledge, Flaviano is the first Italian artist to get some love here. Boy does he deserve it. Jeff sent me this tip about this guy and I was taken by his off kilter style and well thought out ideas for his re-imaginings of classic characters from the 80's. His "Masters of the Ghetto" series portrays some of the coolest characters from He-Man in distinctively different looks then how we are used to seeing them. The greats are all here (Beast Man, Mer Man, Skeletor, He Man, etc), but the highlights come from the obscure characters that Flaviano created (Roboto, Cyclone, and Tri Clops... yes please!!!).
