Artist Profile: Sam Spratt

I love it when things come full circle. I find this happening more and more these days. I fist saw artists Sam Spratt's work when Rainn Wilson decided to adopt Spratt's drawing of him with a Bear Skin on his head as his own personal Twitter avatar. Imagine how cool that must have been for Spratt... so cool. But that's just the tip of the iceberg for Spratt. Directly out of college Spratt was tapped to be the ONLY illustrator for the Gawker Media empire (Gawker, Gizmodo, Kotaku, etc)... not to shabby. He has gone on to create some fantastic pieces of celebs, and even a Game Informer Magazine cover that is bananas!!! Oh, and I almost forgot... Spratt is from Brooklyn as well!!!! You know how much we love to support the local NYC artists. Thanks to Jeff & Edson for sending me a link to such a cool artist. You can click here to see his full online portfolio, and click after the jump to see some of my personal faves from Spratt. Trust me, these pieces will have your jaw hovering just above floor level...

Artist Profile: Flaviano

We post a lot of artist's works from around the world. Many different countries have seen their work portrayed here on this site. To my knowledge, Flaviano is the first Italian artist to get some love here. Boy does he deserve it. Jeff sent me this tip about this guy and I was taken by his off kilter style and well thought out ideas for his re-imaginings of classic characters from the 80's. His "Masters of the Ghetto" series portrays some of the coolest characters from He-Man in distinctively different looks then how we are used to seeing them. The greats are all here (Beast Man, Mer Man, Skeletor, He Man, etc), but the highlights come from the obscure characters that Flaviano created (Roboto, Cyclone, and Tri Clops... yes please!!!). His next project is going to be based on the Transformers, so stay tuned. Click after the jump for some of my faves from his blog...

Artist Profile: Mike Monge aka Supermonge!!!

I became friends with Mr Mike Monge through CCD's Tommy Lombardozzi... he is a wonderful artist that has a very unique style and way about designing classic characters with his own distinct spin on things. He has tons of prints available for sale on his Supermonge website, and you can also see some of his older work on his blogspot page (click the links for both!!!) While I'm sure he can draw just about anything, his Star Wars Universe & Superhero work are some of my favorites. He also does custom commissions, so if you know anybody that is really into art, maybe he can get something whipped up for you by Christmas. Check out some of my personal favorites of his wonderful work!!!
