Dune Re-Created With Candy... Let The World Rejoice!

Candy Warehouse is a cool as group that re-creates live action scenes from movies & TV shows with candy in place of humans. The results are usually amazing, and this re-creation set of the Dune movie is no exception. The scene when Paul Atreides rides in on giant sand worm and tries to claim dominion over Arrakis and the spice that is so popular comes to life with candy montage. Frank Herbert himself would be proud. After just watching the 'Jadorosky's Dune' documentary, I for one think this version of events could be even crazier than his vision!!! I certainly would rather watch this over the David Lynch movie (it really doesn't hold up well). You can see more of these excellent scenes over at the Candy Warehouse's Flickr page. Check out this set of pics after the jump...

The Magrittes Of Pop Culture

RenĂ© Magritte’s self portrait, “The Son of Man,” converted by Flickr user ben6835. Instead of the artist and the apple he features movie and comic book characters. A great new take on a classic picture. You can see all of them after the jump...

The Excavation Of Mushroom Island by Logan Zawacki

What if the world of Super Mario Brothers was real? What if those warp zone pipes didn't take our favorite plumbers from Brooklyn to another world, but rather to a deserted island somewhere in the South Pacific? There would have to be some sort of evidence of the existence of these fantastic times... and now there is!!!! Author Logan Zawacki has self published a very interesting book entitled 'The Excavation of Mushroom Island', which details an archaeological excavation that has turned up the skeletal remains of some well known Mario game characters. Bowser, Toad, Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and even the brothers themselves... these X-Ray photos make for a cool book. Right now it is available on Blurb for $50.00 (which seems like a lot but is not that much for a self published book with this many cool full color photos). Check out the official Flickr stream here, and click after the jump for my faves of the bunch....

Video Games vs. Real Life

You may have seen the original artwork of Aled Lewis gracing the chests of many Threadless.com tee shirts but, I came upon a few of these great works of his through various websites, tumblrs and blogspots and was amazed to find out they were attributed to the same artist. In these works, Lewis has transposed some of our favorite video game characters into existing real life web photos. Sometimes comedy ensues and all times the result is pretty damn cool. Follow him on Flickr.com and let us know if any new ones pop-up! Maybe he'll take requests?

'Hyrule Field' (The Legend of Zelda)

'We Need A Montage' (Super Punch-Out)
