It's his first time on the CCD podcast, so make sure you welcome him with open arms! Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Hannibal, Penny Dreadful, and a bunch of other shows make the discussion table this episode. The gang also discusses Khal Drogo's casting as Aquaman in the Superfriends... er, I mean Batman V Superman movie... Robert Englund getting back into his Freddy make up one more time at a convention to raise money to save a drive in movie theater, and even a little bit of nerdy horror related vacation tales courtesy of Jedi Rob & his awesome fiance Alicia! It's A Bird.... It's A Plane... It's... SUPER FREDDY!!! Wait.... WHAT???

I certainly do love me some Freddy. Nightmare On Elm St is one of my favorite film franchises in history. And the character has grown to levels that no one, not even Wes Craven, could have ever imagined. He has appeared on countless products, especially in toy form. But companies are always looking for a way to bring a new Freddy product to market that is unique and can take the character to new heights. Leave it to NECA, one of the titans of the toy industry, to come up with a great idea for this years 2014 San Diego Comic Con exclusive. Not only did they come up with a great idea... it is one of the most obvious ones that hasn't been done before!

Horror Art Meets Puppets by Lord Netsua

Lord Netsua has a Deviant Art page that is LOADED with horrific drawings of monsters and mayhem. But the two pieces that stuck out two me had to be his mashups between horror and the puppets of Sesame Street. The first picture is a movie poster for A Nightmare on Sesame Street featuring Elmo, and the second is a drawing featuring monstrous versions of Grover, Cookie Minster, and The Count. His villainous stylings of these childhood faves had me bugging out... so I shared them with you guys here. Check out both pieces after the jump...

Even Bad Guys Have To Get Old....

As a big horror fan I am constantly looking for websites that focus on the genre to read. I was always a fan of Bloody Disgusting, but they have gotten a bit corporate and big for their britches. A few years back I stumbled upon Freddy In Space, a cool blog run by a guy named Johnny. There was just something about the blog and the way he ran it that remind me alot of what we are trying to do here at CCD.... just talk about stuff we love and maybe score some free shit from companies for reviewing their stuff. Then I found out that Johnny was a fellow NYer and that was enough for me. We have become friends through meet ups at Comic Con and sharing memorabilia, and I am still a very big fan of his blog. Go check it out!!! Anyway, Johnny featured photographer Fredrico Chisea works in which Chisea shows us what it will be like when the villains we love grow old. THese guys may not seem like much of a threat anymore, but I bet they still go a bit of bad ass left in em. Check out the photo series after the jump...

Sean Hartter Takes On Three Horror Movie Icons... And Lives To Tell The Tale!

One of my favorite artists that I have come across since I began this blog would have to be digital artist Sean Hartter. Ever since the first time I laid eyes on his Alternate Universe Movie Posters and other amazing digital creations I was completely drawn in buy his stylized artwork. But one of the reasons I like his stuff so much is because he seems to pick subjects that are always near and dear to my heart. When I saw his recent takes on the big Hollywood horror three (Freddy, Jason and Mike) I had to share them with you for All Horror Week. I hope you like them as much as I do. Freddy Krueger In Mortal Kombat...No Like For Real!

Lot's of big new coming in from SDCC and while this isn't as big a reveal as The Avengers trailer, I think it's pretty damn great.

Warner Brothers Interactive announced that Freddy Krueger will be a playable character available as DLC in the latest Mortal Kombat game.

Pretty cool stuff. A couple of criticisms; it does unfortunately seem that this is not the REAL Freddy, meaning the classic Robert Englund. Rather it's the Jackie Earle Haley version from the recent useless reboot. Guess they still have their hopes set on a sequel and want to keep perpetuating the new product. Also I don't really like the two-handed glove thing. I guess it gives him more weapons but, it's just not how Freddy looks. It's too symmetrical.  It was probably just too much trouble to program him having extra reach on just one hand. That said, I still dig it.

The latest Mortal Kombat game is excellent, and this is another reason to pick it up, or keep playing. I generally don't get much DLC, but this one I will be picking up.

Freddy's inclusion in this game explains Warner Bros. recent request that Freddy and Jason both be removed from the fan made, horror icon fighting game Terrordrome. Their removal caused the whole project to be put on hold permanently. Damn C&D's!!!! Their request sparked rumors that perhaps WB themselves had a game in the works. This seems to be the result.

Can Jason be far behind...

Ant Stuff - Fan Art & Beer!!!

I stumbled upon the wonderful blog entitled Ant Stuff, which features the art of Ant. There are a few common themes in Ant's art. 1) Iconic comic book, horror, and sci-fi characters. 2) Beer. 3) Fun stuff. He makes a marriage between these three things in all his works of art and also finds realism in all these fictional characters, and I love 'em all. Here are my faves. Click here to see more of Ant's work... this guy is amazing.
