The Jacked Kirby Podcast - Episode #8: 2001: A Space Odyssey - Marvel Treasury Edition (1976)

Mike D & Tommy are joined by artist Joe Milazzo to discuss Jack's adaption to the film 2001: A Space Odyssey (Marvel Treasury Edition 1976). The original film and book were huge hits in 1968 upon release, and Marvel turned to their returning "King" to finally adapt it in 1976. Instead of going with a traditional comic adaption, they decided to allow him to take on an over-sized Treasury Edition to capture all the awesome visuals in a way only he can. And he got to write this adaption as well... always a point of contention among Kirby fans and critics alike. Join us for our review of one of Jack's most visually stunning creations...

The CCD Podcast: Episode #82 - The Star Wars Art Show

CCD.NYC has been sponsoring live art shows around Brooklyn for the past year, and one of the places we got the inspiration to do those shows was from our good friend Joseph Milazzo. Milazzo is a talented musician and artist himself, and he has been putting together shows for years now. We liked his format of rotating artists in for each so and having a theme... so we kinda stole it and added the pop culture twist! So when Joe told us that his next show was going to be focusing on a Pop Culture phenomenon such as Star Wars we had to have him on the podcast to tell us all about it! The 15 pieces from the show will be on display on Saturday Dec 12th at 3 Jolly Pigeons bar in Bay Ridge (click here for details) all night, but listen to Jedi Rob chop it up with Joe and one of the other artists in the show Al Accettura as a bit of a sneak preview!!!

Another Excellent CCD Art & Supply Art Show In The Books... Here Are The Pieces!

On Saturday February 7th The CCD Art & Supply Co. put on our 2nd live art show at the Irish Haven in Brooklyn, and boy it was something special. The St. Valentine's Day Massacre: Mob Movies... In Blood Red was a perfect show theme to fit with this time of year. All that lovey dovey nonsense isn't our style here at CCD... we decided to pay homage to our favorite Mob movies in honor of the monstrous gangland slaying ordered by Al Capone. We picked out 16 artists, and the 16 classic mob movies. We put them in a randomizer... and after the assignments were given the rest was history. We got 16 killer (pun intended) pieces, and the night of the show we were fortunate enough to sell 14 out of 16 pieces. 14 OUT OF 16!!! That is just too dope... to dope indeed! It was a big night for The CCD Art & Supply Co. and we have made some insane connections with the hope of putting on even more killer events in the future. We also may have sold 14 of the 16 originals, but we have EACH AND EVERY PIECES available for sale in 8 x 10, 11 x 14 and 16 x 20 size prints on high quality Kodak stock. Order yours today by clicking here and visiting our online store now! Check out all of the entries after the jump....

The CCD Podcast: Episode #11 - Podcast of the Apes Pt. 3 or If You Fuck With Nature, Nature Will Fuck You Back!!!!

Well, all good things have to come to an end... and a complete Planet of the Apes retrospective is no exception. 'Jedi' Rob Martin, Jeff 'Baby Milo' Bond, and Joe 'Rock n Roll Ape' Milazzo have spent Episodes #8 and #9 of the CCD podcast looking back at the whole franchise, and the full retrospective concludes in Episode #11 (after the jump). In this one the gang looks back at the Planet of the Apes live action TV show, the cartoon series, the Marvel comic books of the 70s/80s, Tim Burton's failed reboot version of a film, and the 2011 masterpiece that revitalized the franchise, Rise of the Planet of the Apes. They also talk about what their hopes and expectations are for the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (out this Friday, July 11th)  and also propose some interesting personal theories about the timelines of all the films and if they all exist in the same continuity. It is Ape-tastic!!! Also we feature some amazing Tommy Lombardozzi artwork of the classic apes we all know and love, another Jedi Rob photoshopped movie poster, as well as the trippy introduction to the cartoon series that Rob discusses in this episode. It is by far the biggest, most packed episode of the retrospective... and the culmination of this great 3 episode arc! Enjoy all the content after the jump...

This Saturday, We Drink & Draw.... Check Out "Bar", An Art Show By Joe Milazzo

So its the weekend, and you are looking for something to do besides spend all your money on greedy family members Christmas presents. Well, do I have an event for you!!! Friend of CCD Joe Milazzo is having an amazing art show, and he is having it at a bar... a bar!!! It's fitting, since the theme of the show is the goings on inside bars anyway. Check out the description from the man himself:

Hey friends. I'd like to invite you all to my first art show. Over the last couple of years I started painting again (after a 10 year hiatus) and I developed what I believe is a style of my own. I started painting scenes of my favorite bars until I realized I had the makings of what could be a good show.
In keeping with the theme, I decided to have the show at my favorite bar (and one of Brooklyn's oldest... opened 1906) Three Jolly Pigeons Pub in Bay Ridge. The show will be open all day but the main party kicks off at 9pm, going all night till we close the place down.
There will be great music, drink specials...plus! a special performance by legendary Brooklyn troubadour Tommy Lombardozzi and his band, The Hollow Legs featuring Michael Lombardozzi, Jon Carrai, Wayne Schneiderman and special guest performers!
I hope everyone can be part of what hopefully will be a special evening. Thanks!!!
Now thats what I'm talking about!!! So make sure you support Joe, and fellow CCD contributor Tommy Lombardozzi, who gives an awesome musical show (as well as impressive whiskey drinking ability) at every gig he plays... today/tonight should be fun. We will see you there... tell em Mike D & CCD sent ya!!!
