We here at CCD love getting behind a great idea, so when we found out that fellow compatriot and contributor to the CCD Podcast Joe Milazzo was hosting another one of his awesome art shows I knew I had to share it with all you guys... but we decided to take it ONE STEP FURTHER and do A WHOLE PODCAST EPISODE on the show's topic!!! Join Jedi Rob Martin, Joe 'Beware The Beast Man' Milazzo, and John LaMacchia as they discuss famous 'Beasts' in Pop Culture. The art show is entitled The New World Bestiary: A Compendium of Creatures Lost & Imagined, so the gang talk about which beasts will be making appearances in the show and counterparts that they have had throughout pop culture history! A very cool podcast, in lieu of a pretty cool art show. Lots of great artists in this one, including CCD's own Tommy Lombardozzi! Oh, and there will be LIVE MUSIC TOO! If you are in the Brooklyn area, please make your way over to St. Vitus Bar in Greenpoint for the show, starting at 6 PM. All info can be found by clicking here to the Facebook Event page and after the jump for the full show flyer...

The Creature Project by Steve Seeley
I came across the work of artist Steve Seeley in a very similar fashion to the way I find a lot of material here on CCD. A friend shared a link to an article over at the Juxtapoz website about a gallery of pics that Seeley did featuring superheroes interacting with animals in nature. The pics were cool, and I planned on sharing them here. But when I got to his website, I was blown away by a ton of other stuff that he has done. One project that drew me in was 'The Creature Project'. In 'The Creature Project' Seeley took a specific cover of a Gold Key magazine UFO Flying Saucers #5 and re-imagines the alien creatures on it. So the background remains the same, but the creature changes. Seeley has been doing these actively since 2004, and on his website he has 20+ of them in a gallery. Some of them are quirky and simple, some are extremely detailed... they are all awesome, and fun. This often happens to me when scouting stuff for CCD. I am brought to something, and then find something even cooler once I am there. You can see the whole 'The Creature Project' by clicking here, and check out my personal faves after the jump...

The Horror Anthology TV Show 'Monsters' FINALLY Gets A Home Video Release
Wow... it's about time!!!! One of my favorite childhood TV shows is finally getting a box set, and it can't be soon enough! 'Monsters' aired back in the late 80's (88-91) and ran for three seasons ...to a total of 72 episodes. It was conceived in the vein of 'The Twilight Zone' & 'Tales From The Darkside', which it shared a producer with. The show was a week-to-week, self-contained horror fest that featured original stories as well as adaptions from great horror writers such a Stephen King and Robert Bloch. And it also featured a bunch of young actors BEFORE they were famous, such as Steve Buschemi, Tony Shaloub and Gina Gershon. It also featured one of the best introduction scenes in the history of TV... and if you don't remember it, check it out after the jump! Now the show is finally going to get the box set treatment, coming at the end of Feb 2014. I, for one, will be buying this one. I can't wait to share these scares with my 10 year old son.... I was his age when the show aired ...and I loved it. So I am interested to see if he likes it. Check out some clips after the jump...

Phil Postma Is Starting A Mad Monster Party & Your Invited!!!!!
Brother Postma is back with a further demonstration of his enormous talent and imagination. He has taken the classic Mad Monster Party characters and returned them to their monster movie roots. I have long championed his work because he needs to be working in Hollywood doing design work. There is no style of animation that he cannot take and make better.

Where Do Monsters Go On Vacation?
Why... Hotel Transylvania of course!!! What a great idea for an animated movie. Take the classic Universal Monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, Mummy, etc) and place them on vacation in a monsters only resort that is made for them to get some rest & relaxation away from the general public, and then introduce a regular person into the mix to throw everything off. This sounds perfect!!! Think about how much trouble the little girl (Boo) caused in the monster world in Monsters Inc... it is the classic role reversal story made more interesting due to the presence of monsters. Add in a great voice cast (Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Selena Gomez, Steve Buschemi, Ceelo Green, David Spade) from the regulars at Happy Madison and you get one hell of a good looking animated film... I hope Sandler & his crew sticks to these animated movies instead of the latest shit movies he has been putting up on the big screen. Check out the full trailer after the jump...

OHC Of the Day The Day: Whitney Able
With the recent release of Magnolia film's 'Monsters' directed by, newcomer, Gareth Edwards some fans have sprung up of the beauty that is the film's star, Whitney Able. Besides being featured on random episodes of CSI: NY and the new incarnation of 'Nikita' on CW TV, Mz. Able has garnered the coveted 83rd spot on Maxim's100 list. She's had a small film career so far...but we here at CCD think she's destined for Hollywood success. Look for her in upcoming films 'Pound of Flesh' with CCD all-time favorite Maclolm McDowell, 'Man Without a Head' alongside fellow hotties Taryn Manning & Shannyn Sossamon, and 'Everything Will Happen When You Die' with John Hawkes & Nick Stahl amongst some other spooky sounding flicks. Without further ado...we give you Whitney Able. And you're welcome.
