Postma Does The Amazing Spider-Ham - The Heores and the Villains

There are few characters that hold as special a place in my heart as Peter Porker, The Spectacular Spider Ham. The mock character made his first appearance back in 1983 and I remember the first day I saw an issue featuring the cartoon pig on the cover. I was like 4 or 5, totally emerged in comic books, and the idea that they could morph a classic character such as Spider Man into something fun and interesting appealed to me greatly. Over the years I have read many of the stories that featured the world of Peter Porker... but when I saw what artist Phil Postma did with the character in his unique artistic way, I was completely blown away. Postma Does The Ghostbusters

Once again Canadian artist Phil Postma finds a fresh and unique project to put his own personal design twist on them. This time he takes on iconic movie posters of the eighties and gives them a Ghostbuster theme - perfect for Halloween. The COBRA FILES By Postma

Once again Phil Postma nails the characters and adds that little bit extra by drawing these ones as action figure backing cards. Done is a style that would attract ANY age collector to the toys (which would also be wildly successful if created from these designs) he get's right to what makes the GI JOE Universe so great. It's all the characters and the balance of good and evil. Plus no one dies or can hit anything they are aiming at. Sure Cobra Commander is an idiot but he looks great. Brother Postma is back with a further demonstration of his enormous talent and imagination. He has taken the classic Mad Monster Party characters and returned them to their monster movie roots. I have long championed his work because he needs to be working in Hollywood doing design work. There is no style of animation that he cannot take and make better.

One of most amazing pop culture artists to me is Phil Postma. I could lay out ten versions of his character sets and you would be hard pressed to figure out if they were done by only one artist or several. The skill set he possesses is just remarkable. This is his latest set called Gotham Justice. Once again I wish that someone at DC would snatch this guy up and put his vision into animation. His stuff is that great.

Super Powers By Phil Postma - Part 1

Phil Postma returns with a great set of Super Powers inspired comic books covers. Why some smart creative entertainment giant doesn't snap this guy up is beyond me. This is the of the snappiest, more creative stuff out there. Just take some time to scroll through his archives. The sheer amount of imagination and talent is staggering. I never see him repeat himself. Each series is as different as the next and if you didn't know it, you could be fooled into to thinking it was done by another artist. The Chronicles Of Superman Part 1 by Phil Postma

Once again Phil Postma's site reveals more gems and amazing cartoon concepts. I like the look at his characters and think you could do a fun all ages Superman cartoon that would be interesting for everyone. Like The Brave and the Bold  cartoon did for Batman, you could use something in this classic style to reconnect the hero with the best parts of his history and go a little goofy with the whole idea of a 'Superman' when you wanted to. I imagine how these character must move in their space and I think that in itself would be fun to watch. Another winner from Brother Postma. Come back tomorrow for part two of the series. Cereal Monsters by Phil Postma

I have been featuring a bunch of Phil Postma's art here on CCD, and I must make a disclosure. I do not know the man, and I have no hidden agenda when sharing his stuff. I do not make any money, and not using the posts to curry good favor from Phil, and don't know if any benefit will ever come of them. But I know one thing: The more I look through Postma's back catalog, the more unbelievable shit that I come across that I feel like I just have to share!!!! Take his Cereal Monsters collection for example. He did the 5 classic REAL cereal monsters (Count Chocula, Frankenberry, Boo Berry, Frute Brute, and Yummy Mummy), but he also added 7 of his own cereal creations that are just fantastic. You know how you know that they are good? Because not only id the art fantastic, but I actually would want to eat these fictional cereals! Check out all 12 after the jump....

DC Heroes Done Pixar Style By Phil Postma

How cool would it be to have a new TV series done entirely in this style? Anything seems possible in this golden age for animation. Maybe somebody at Disney needs to pitch something other than John Carter 2. You can play around with some of the character designs (like having the characters look LESS like The Incredibles just wearing different costumes) but the concept is solid. The same goes for the Marvel figures. I like the bulky bodies on characters like Wolverine and Captain America. Seeing them in action would show off why they are superheroes. Marvel Heroes Done Pixar Style By Phil Postma

I would even settle for just an Ant-Man series done in this style of animation. You could do so much imaginative things in the environment Ant-Man operates in. He rides a bee and everything around him is 100 times larger than he is used to seeing. Ant-Man has a different perspective and way of thinking all the time when he is doing his superheroics.
