I love me some mash-ups, especially if they involve some of my favorite 80's movies. Artist Joshua Gilbert has plenty of talent for making some killer movie posters (he has some great stuff for sale on Etsy by clicking here), but he knocked out two mash-ups that take the cake. How about a Labyrinth/Pac-Man mash-up that features and awesome grid like board with Jareth holding the baby Toby hostage in the middle. Think that is the coolest it could get? How about Dark Crystal Donkey Kong? Skeksi Kong... are you fucking kidding me? These are two fantastic pieces that need to be shared with my fellow 80s babies. Check out more of Gilbert's art over at his Deviant Art page, buy some of his work on Etsy, and you can check out the Labyrinth and Dark Crystal pieces after the jump...

Game On, World by Nike +
Video Games are no longer a fringe entertainment, they have gone extremely mainstream. Characters & game situations are recognized by many a person young and old... show a person who doesn't know who Mario is or doesn't know what a warp pipe does, and I will show you someone who has lived under a rock for the past 30 years. Nike recognized this, and decided to appeal to the gamers inside all of us to sell us on the new Nike + athletic program. They use recognizable situations from some of the greatest games of all time (Mario Brothers, Donkey Kong, etc) to show what it is like to work out in the brave new world of Nike +. The gang at Nike always makes fantastic commercials, and this one is no exception. Well done... check out the full video after the jump.

Mount Playmore by ???
I found this excellent design for a t-shirt over at Busted Tees and I am pissed because the site does not name the designer of the shirt. It is entitled Mount Playmore, and features the Nintendo Holy Quadumvirate of Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus Aran, and Link set in stone like they rightfully deserve. I hate not being able to being able to give credit to an artist, but this one was too good not to share. You can pick this one up for 20 bucks by clicking here and can see the detailed photo of the design after the jump...

First up this week, we have a handful of Super Mario Bros. designs that'll make your flower fiery....
'Mushroom Guillotine' shows what happens to Toad if Super Mario doesn't make it to, yet, another castle to save him in time. I love this design!

Princess Peach Becomes The Bride
This is a cool mashup of the Super Mario Brothers/Donkey Kong video games and Kill Bill. Princess Peach is in all her glory as The Bride, but this time instead of the Crazy 88's it's Koopa Troopa's, Goomba's, Bowser, and Donkey Kong himself she is taking on. Great piece. Wish I knew who the artist was.

Whomever is still unsure that Harry Potter is bad-ass, a week before the finale of the finales, need look no further than 'Scar Face'. A mash-up of epic proportions! Now if only someone would make a T-shirt with Tony Montana battling Death Eaters than that would just make my day.
'Drinky Kong'...A monkey after my own heart!

Video Games vs. Real Life Volume 2
You may have seen the original artwork of Aled Lewis gracing the chests of many Threadless.com tee shirts but, I came upon a few of these great works of his through various websites, tumblrs and blogspots for a previous post a couple of weeks ago and was amazed to find out they were attributed to the same artist. In his works, Lewis has transposed some of our favorite video game characters into existing real life web photos. Since my original post, Aled Lewis hasn't let up. Mashing up new images almost daily. Sometimes comedy ensues and all times the result is pretty damn cool. Follow him on Flickr.com and let us know if any new ones pop-up! Maybe he'll take requests? I just can't get enough of them!

This Is The Likely Outcome Of Donkey Kong If It Weren't A Video Game
To quote the man responsible for this " If you come at an 800lb gorilla with a mallet on the 117th screen, then this is likely... ". You can check out some more cool work from FatHeed by clicking here.

Like! Like? Special Edition: The Art of Mark Henry
While perusing through the interwebs for art that agrees with me for my next installment of 'Like! Like?: Art edition', I came across the artwork of one, Mark Henry of Berlin (or Anjinanhut as he goes by on DeviantArt.com) and, after a further investigating, I was certain there was no way I could fit ALL the brilliant works he had created into a post as well as 20 or 30 other artists work so I decided he deserved a post all his own! His entire body of work is most impressive but, the ones that called out to me the most were of video game characters that I grown up with. New renditions of Earthworm Jim, Mega Man, and the Mario Bros. were just a few of the many characters that seemed alive on his post page mingling together, separately, on backgrounds of baby blue. I hope the new detail given to each puts a smile on your face as it did on mine. Enjoy and be sure to also check out the rest of his work over at DeviantArt by clicking here
First up Mega Man...or Rock Man as he's known in Japan....
