If we are going to talk any movies here at the CCD Podcast during the month of October we are going to have address the Halloween franchise. Considering the fact that co-founder of the podcast Jedi Rob is absolutely OBSESSED with the franchise, it is not a surprise that he has chosen the epic horror for one of our patented CCD Podcast Retrospectives!!! Jedi Rob grabbed our old buddy Steven Graves and good friend and old time contributor to the CCD Blog Kristen "KMG" Grillo to break down all of the movies, sequels, prequels, tv edits, remakes, outtakes, and anything else that makes up John Carpenter's signature franchise. Fantastic 'Halloween' Fan Film Makes You Wish This Animated Project Had Been Green Lit...

Federico D'Alessandro is a story board artist for Marvel Films. He has worked on a sick number of high profile projects: Cap, Thor, Avengers... yup, all the big guns. So when he had a shot to make a animated short in the hopes of selling himself to the 'Halloween' movie rights holders and get the rights to make a full length animated feature, he had to take his shot. While he was on post for the short, the negotiation with Platinum Dunes studios fell through. Even though it wasn't meant to be, D'Alessandro felt compelled to finish the short because he had loved the franchise so much. The result? This 'Halloween' Animatic!!! Halloween has come and gone, and boy am I sad. It is by far my favorite time of year and definitely my favorite holiday. So as I sit here a few days removed and anticipating another year of waiting for Halloween 2014 to come around, I lean towards my Canadian brother Kal for images to put a smile on his face. Ben Cooper Costumes Revisited

Anyone reading this who was a kid up through the mid-1980s probably spent at least a few Halloweens trolling for candy in a costume manufactured by the Ben Cooper Company.

Founded in 1937, Ben Cooper, Inc. specialized in inexpensive Halloween costumes based on fictional archetypes, historical figures, and pop culture characters. Starting with Superman in the 1950s, expanding in the 1960s and '70s, the company produced dozens of variations of costumes based on superheroes. Check out more after the jump...

Happy Halloween From Oscilloscope Laboratories

Oscilloscope Laboratories is a great independent film distribution company that was started by the recently deceased Adam Yauch (MCA of the Beastie Boys) back in the day and has a track record of distributing really cool foreign and independent films. They also are known for releasing a Halloween short every year, and this years entry is really spooky! It involves a singing cavalcade of children, all face painted and creeping the fuck out of the adults  in the piece. Fantastic!!! Check it out after the jump, it is superb as usual.

Odle Timey Halloween Was Much Creepier Than Current Time Halloween... MUCH CREEPIER INDEED!!!

Back in the day Halloween costume construction involved much more creativity than just dropping bye your local Party City and picking out which costume you will wear out of a package. Nope, the old times required people to use things like old & ripped clothes, and most masks were created out of paper mache (which would lead to some impressive masks by the way!) or odd shaped objects like buckets, etc. Before store bought costumes people were forced to be creative, and the results were often creeptastic to say the least. I was over at the Weird Tales website (one of the great magazines of all time... still kicking, albeit in a digital format, after all these years) and found an insane gallery of oldie time Halloween photos that are just spooky as hell... so take a trip down memory lane to see what creativity, hard work, and a little bit of imagination can turn out a hella good Halloween costume. Hi-C Horror from The Holidaze Blog

The gang over at the Holidaze Blog have been having a great time mocking up Hi-C juice boxes with a horror character theme for the Halloween season. They have had series 1 and series 2 in the past, and now we have series 3 to satisfy our horrific thirst! These are really cool, and I do enjoy the cleverness of the names of the particular juices and how they relate to the specific characters assigned to them. A great way to enjoy this wonderful Halloween with a nod back to the days of the brown bag lunch. Check them all out after the jump, the Wolfman Water is my fave by a long shot!

Slaughterhouse Starlets By Keith P. Rein

While it is the time of year to celebrate all the creepy, bloody and horrific things the world has to offer... but that doesn't mean we can't add a bit of sexiness to the mix too, does it? Artist Keith P. Rein (his website says the P stands for Penis... lol) has created a series of illustrations called 'Slaughterhouse Starlets' to help bridge the gap. Some of the sexiest young starlets Hollywood has to offer today (Emma Stone, Aubrey Plaza and Zooey Deschanel just to name a few) with a bit of a dangerous edge to them. Frightening Home Goods by Horror Decor

Halloween makes the month of October an acceptable time to decorate your home with blood streaked and stained items and monsters A-OK. Nobody will ever look at you sideways for your Frankenstein pot holders or Creature From the Black Lagoon shower curtain... you will be revered for it. But what if you wanted to kick up your horror house decor to the next level? Well, say no more... just bounce over to the Horror Decor website! They offer a plethora of horror themed merch for the crib, from lampshades to pillows... anything you can ever want to bring the spooky level up in your house. My all time favorite product that they offer has to be their VHS pillow, and oversized pillow that is shaped like a old VHS tape. But that is not what makes it so cool... the fact that it has a Velcro strip in the middle that allows you to attach specific movie labels (also made by Horror Decor, and only $5 bucks a game) to the pillow!!!
