Federico D'Alessandro is a story board artist for Marvel Films. He has worked on a sick number of high profile projects: Cap, Thor, Avengers... yup, all the big guns. So when he had a shot to make a animated short in the hopes of selling himself to the 'Halloween' movie rights holders and get the rights to make a full length animated feature, he had to take his shot. While he was on post for the short, the negotiation with Platinum Dunes studios fell through. Even though it wasn't meant to be, D'Alessandro felt compelled to finish the short because he had loved the franchise so much. The result? This 'Halloween' Animatic!!! Check it out after the jump....

My 3 Favorite Scary Movies Of All Time: Cal From The Canadian Cave of Cool Edition
Ever since that scene in Scream where Ghostface asks Ms Barrymore that same question people have been asking each other it with regularity. Actually, I'm pretty sure they have been asking each other that since the beginning of film itself. Scary movies are just so easy to talk about... and so easy to form an opinion of. For many reasons they are the genre of movies that you can point to and say "Yup, these are the ones I LOVE!!!" In honor of CCD's 1st annual All Horror Week, we decided to highlight some of our contributors and friends 3 favorite scary/horror movies of all time. These may not be the best, but they are each person's FAVORITE, so these lists should be quite fun. Here we go!
Cal is a great friend of the CCD family and runs one of the all time best websites on the whole net... this guy keeps us coming back for more everyday. So what if he likes kittens, adores Selena Gomez, and hates octopi with every inch of his moral fiber... whats so strange about that? My man Cal is good peoples as far as I am concerned, so we wanted to include him in our CCD All Horror Week. He has contributed some excellent cat pics with captions pertaining to serial killers (they are hysterical!), and now he checks in with his 3 favorite scary movies. Live, from the tundra, here come Cal's picks:
The first SAW movie was hypnotic to watch. Totally original and actually plausible if someone was psycho and mad at you enough...plus after a hour of keeping me riveted to the screen you discover that Jigsaw was THERE THE WHOLE TIME!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
SILENCE OF THE LAMBS (1991) - the unbelievable weight of dread hung over this movie. Not only was Buffalo Bill terrifying but knowing that all it took was a SINGLE PAPER CLIP to allow Lecter to escape was more than I could bear. Not only did he get out but he left his calling card behind. Anyone that smart and that many moves ahead of the authorities is terrifying to me.
The first HALLOWEEN. We all forget how few movies actually has a supernaturally evil and indestructible serial killer in them. This was the granddaddy of the all. The way his facial expression never changed and how he sat up when we thought the terror was over changed my life. I really try to avoid those kinds of movies to this day.

My 3 Favorite Scary Movies Of All Time: James West Edition
Ever since that scene in Scream where Ghostface asks Ms Barrymore that same question people have been asking each other it with regularity. Actually, I'm pretty sure they have been asking each other that since the beginning of film itself. Scary movies are just so easy to talk about... and so easy to form an opinion of. These may not be the best, but they are each person's FAVORITE, so these lists should be quite fun. Here we go!So, what does resident comic geek and all around great guy Cousin James West have to say when it comes to the scary movie debate? This kid got some solid ass picks. Who says the youngsters don't know whats really quality... no torture porn or mindless horror here. On another note, you might have stolen my thunder with one of your picks... Damn, I hate going last! With no further ado, I give you James West's 3 favorite scary movies:
Evil Dead 2 (1987) – It’s over the top without being cringe worthy, it’s a send-up without being a parody, it doesn’t hold back for a second, it’s gory, it’s funny, it has action, and it made Bruce Campbell into Bruce Campbell. What’s there not to love? Pretty groovy (had to do it!).
John Carpenter’s Halloween (1978) - The movie pits excellent characters against a legendary villain. Mike Myers is realistic while still having a supernatural air about him…this movie just has an atmosphere of what Halloween should be like. (Editors note: I removed a video James posted here to make it its own post. It was to good to put n the middle of another post. Sorry kid... you just got jacked!!!)
John Carpenter’s The Thing (1982) - This movie just attacks you on all levels. It’s got some of the most realistic, disgusting effects in any movie ever. It creates an atmosphere of paranoia that’s almost unparalleled. On top of that, it makes you connect the dots afterwards and ask yourself questions about what really happened.
Honorable mention: An American Werewolf in London!
Wu Tang Wednesday: Wu Tang Clan ft Michael Myers - C.R.E.A.M. (Halloween Movie Theme Remix)
Check out what happens when Raekwon da Chef, Method Man & Inspektah Dek tangle with Mr. Myers's Theme Music... priceless!!! Perfect for CCD's All Horror Week, no???

Funniest Rape/Horror Movie Joke I Have Heard In Awhile
I was perusing my Blogroll as I do everyday when I came across the "Whats On Tonight" post over at Warming Glow, CCD's favorite TV site. Anyway, when came to the AMC show list, this is what I got.... wow, just wow:
![]() |
| Oh look... It's Ole Rape Eyes!!! |
- Halloween (AMC) — When it comes to scary movies, I prefer spooky to slashy: I’ll always take The Shining and The Exorcist over Freddy and Jason and Michael Myers. Rosemary’s Baby doesn’t make my list, though. I don’t know, the scene where Satan rapes Rosemary… I just expected more from a rape expert like Roman Polanski.
Thank you so much for that... it put a smile on my face, and if you don't care for rape humor... well, fuck you then and try to develop a sense of humor... that was a good one. Anyway, check out Warming Glow by clicking here. Know any good rape based jokes??? Leave em in the comments section below. (No true stories Tommy L and Joe Esq, just the JOKES.... hehehe)

My 3 Favorite Scary Movies Of All Time: Kristen "KMG" Grillo Edition
Ever since that scene in Scream where Ghostface asks Ms Barrymore that same question people have been asking each other it with regularity. First up, we got the movie trailer assasin herself, Kristen "KMG" Grillo. She has written Trailer Trash Talking here on CCD for a minute, and even though her productivity has been down lately (step your game up yo!!!) she is poised to make a serious comeback soon. She also took alot of the CCD pics from the floor of the 2010 NYC Comic Con. With no further, I present Kristen Grillo's 3 Favorite Scary Movies Of All Time:
The Blair Witch Project (1999) -
Say what you will about this low budget horror mockumentary , the marketing of this movie was brilliantly executed by a bunch of nobodies and while the ending may leave some (not I) sort of empty, the hair on my neck still stands whenever I think of that creepy house scene at the end.
George Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968) -
Romero is the Godfather of Zombie Horror. Though I usually forget about it throughout the year, Night of The Living Dead is a huge reminder of why I loved Halloween (and horror) as a little California Raisin (a costume my mother unfortunately dressed me in as a child). "They're coming to get you, Barbara!"

John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) -
He wasn't in your dreams. He wasn't a hockey faced mongoloid who drowned in a lake (although I have a great amount of respect for the first few installments of Friday the 13th). He was real. And his evil felt real. The best of its time and, in my opinion, nothing has ever come close to it's style since it's release.
