A Very CCD Halloween - Part 2 - "Science Fiction/Double Feature"

Cultural Compulsive Disorder's Halloween bash is in full swing! This time CCD is cranking out a little "Science Fiction/Double Feature" as featured in the grandaddy of cult classics, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." The gang puts their own spin on the classic, nostalgic love letter to B movies times long gone, but not forgotten.

Cartoon Styled Movie Posters by Ive Bastrash

One of my favorite cartoons back in the day was the Beetlejuice cartoon. I loved it because it expanded the universe of the movie and gave us a cool look at some of the awesome characters that were put forth in the movie in a new cartoon style. Artist Ive Bastarsh has taken a cue from the idea of cartoonizing (I know that is not a word... so what?) some of your favorite movies & their characters and came up with a killer series of posters to take a look at what these films would look like if they were cartoons. Well done... well done indeed. You can take a look at more of his work by clicking here to get onto his Deviant Art page & you can see the ones that I like the best after the jump...

Gallery 1988 Presents Crazy 4 Cult In NYC... And CCD Was There!!!

The CCD crew decided to venture into Manhattan and check out the Gallery 1988 art show Craxzy 4 Cult for ourselves on its opening night last week. It is a dope show, and my only knock on it was that it was in too small a space. People who were waiting to buy prints and pieces formed a line along one whole side of the gallery and prevented people from seeing that half of the show. But for the pieces that I did get a shot to see... all I can say is wow! There are some great pieces in the show, and I had to bust out the camera on my tablet to take some photos for all of you guys to see for yourself. It was crazy packed and hard to take pics, but I did my best. Not all of these will appear online (some are featured over at gallery 1988's website and many other sites like ours) so this might be the only chance you get to see it. The show runs through September, so try and get down to 64 Ganservoort St. and see the magnificent work for yourself. Check out my pics after the jump...

3 Nerd-tastic Videos To Start Your Day Off Right!

I have a plethora of nerd videos to share with you guys today, and given the fact they are so nerd-erific I didn't want to sit on them any longer. I had to share these all today, so all you guys out there hard at work will recieve a bit of a pick me up to get through another brutal Monday!!! First up, we got the cast of Dr. Who (during the David Tenant run) having a bit of behind the scenes fun to the Proclaimers hit '500 Miles'. Next up, a nudist chick from Portland re-enacts the classic Taun Taun scene from Empire Strikes Back in real life (you have to see this gruesome shit), and finally we have my favorite comic author Neil Gaiman teamed up with wife Amanda Palmer, musician Steven Merrit, and superstar Moby to sing "Science Fiction, Double Feature" from my favorite flick Rocky Horror Picture Show on the Craig Ferguson show. If this doesn't get your geek sensibilities going today, I don't know what will. Enjoy after the jump!

Rocky Horror by Kiss My Dress

One of the things I love about CCD's All Horror Week is finding all types of cool horror themed art from some under appreciated artists on the web. The first artist I plan on featuring is Liz, aka Kiss My Dress. She did two amazing Rocky Horror themed charcoal pencil drawings and as soon as I saw them I knew it was how I was going to lead of the week. Click after the jump to see both sketches for yourself...

The Rocky Horror DC Comics Picture Show

This wonderful piece of artwork is entitled 'He's the Hero' by Leigh Kellogg.  Everybody knows how much I love 'Rocky Horror...', so this mash-up with some of DC Comic's mightiest heroes is a must post for me.

That's Wonder Woman as 'Janet', Superman as 'Brad', Robin as 'Columbia', Harley Quinn as 'Magenta', Joker as 'Riff Raff', and Batman as 'Dr. Frank-N-Furter'. Here is what the artist had to say about it:
Here's a piece that I did late last year for a Rocky Horror live show group. It’s an homage to the original movie poster showing the cast with a superhero twist, and was used as part of a promo for a special show. I also did the chorus line of legs, but as a separate piece so it could be moved wherever the printer wanted. “He’s the hero, oh yes, the hero."
OK... so who would you guys have play the wheelchair-bound 'Dr. Scott', greaser 'Eddie', and the monster himself 'Rocky'? Tell us in the comments section below.

Rocky Horror, I Love You!!!

I absolutely adore The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Its one of my all time favorite movies, ever... not just horror movies, ALL MOVIES!!! In honor of the fact that I have watched this movie like 40,000 times at home, over 6 times in the theater, and once on Broadway I have decided to include my 5 favorite songs from the movie. I hope you enjoy these wonderful musical numbers... If you are a fan of Rocky Horror, leave a comment in the section below. Now.... Lets... Do... The... Time... Warp... Again!!!

Science Fiction/ Double Feature

Toucha, Toucha,Toucha Touch Me

Hot Patootie (Saturday Night)

There's A Light

I'm Going Home

*****Bonus Choice*****

I really thought they did a great job on the Glee Rocky Horror episode. They found a cool way to incorporate the musical into the flow of the show without just straight ripping it off. This was the highlight, by far...

Check Out Russell Crowe In Rocky Horror....

Thanks to CCD reader Bianca Sunshyne Papas, we get this excellent fan shot video of Russell Crowe performing as both Eddie & Dr. Scott in a 1987 stage version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show from Melbourne, Australia. Looks like a fun production... shout out to Bianca for sharing, and Jezebel.com for the post. It's a long way from Gladiator & A Beautiful Mind, but Russ represents well. Check it out!!
