I am a huge Judge Dredd fan... have been since the days of the 2000 A.D. comic and the abomination that was the Sylvester Stallone film. Like O.G., triple O.G. status. I really liked the Karl urban vehicle last year as well... even if no one else went to go see it in the theaters. So when I came across a fantastic fan film that featured 27 minutes of Mega City madness over on Bloody Pit of Rod, I just knew I would have to post it here on CCD for all my fellow Dredders... This movie is excellent, and is done with the full permission of the rights owners... which is really rare when it comes to fan films. There is a whole blog that is dedicated to the main of the film, and you can find it here. But if you are a fan of the character like I am, you will love what they do with it. Check out the full feature embedded after the jump...

CCD Holiday Geek Gift Guide - The Batman vs Judge Dredd Collection
As we creep closer and closer to Christmas I am coming across more and more cool gifts that I WANT FOR MYSELF. I know this is supposed to be the season of giving, but shit.....there are some really great geeky gifts out there and I want them! Take this excellent collection that includes all four of the cross over mini series from the nineties with Bats & Judge Dredd. Wow... great that they are all collected in one place, and for this price it is a must have for all Batman/Judge Dredd fans. The book also features a very cool cover by Mike Mignola. These stories were a true bright spot in the 90s, when comics went through an industry wide lull. With a cover price of around 30 bucks I would jump on it, but you can grab this book for like 18 bucks on Amazon by clicking here. Get it for all the comic geeks in your life.... trust me, they will love it. Click after the jump for some pics of the book itself....

Judge, Jury, & Executioner: The Dredd 3D Trailer Is Finally Here!!!
When I was growing up I often sought out forms of rarer forms of familiar entertainment that was offered. While most kids were content watching Freddy & Jason American horror movies, I was familiarizing myself with the Hammer catalouge of horror movies from England. When kids were playing Dungeons & Dragons, I purchased and had my friends playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle role playing game. And when it came to comics, my favorites were all over the map. Following the lead of some of the older kids at my local comic shop I began reading 2000 AD, and the main storyline in the British mag is Judge Dredd. What a great book... from the first time I read the stories of Mega City, I was hooked. Rampant crime, drugs, and violence engulf Mega City, and it is up to the Judges of the Hall of Justice to keep it all together. Judge Dredd is the best of the best, and he kicks some major ass. We got a pretty campy movie in 1995 from Sylvester Stallone, and while that movie was campy and fun it was very hard to buy Rocky as JD. But now we are getting a second chance at a film reality, with the new Dredd 3D that stars Karl Urban. Urban seems to have gotten the mannerisms and tone of the character down, and the film looks pretty action packed so far. Throw in the sexy ass Olivia Thirlby, and I am in. There is no firm release date yet, but one should be coming soon. You can check out the exclusive first trailer of the film after the jump.

A Judge Dredd Children Cartoon... Wait, What????
My undying love for Judge Dredd will hopefully get a big pay off at the end of this year when we finally get a cinematic version of the futuristic lawman that is true to the comics in the form of bad ass Karl Urban and the new Judge Dredd movie. Now before you jump on my back and tell me about Sylvester Stallone's portrayal of Dredd (for the record, I like the movie... but it STRAYS immensely from the source material), I am going to show you something that will make Sly's version look even MORE faithful to the gritty comic. Recently an 1970's era episode of the British children's show Bod was uncovered, and it featured Mega City's meanest lawman facing off against the Angel Gang & the Dark Judges. Now despite the fact that in the comics this situation would definitively get bloody, Dredd handles the situation a bit more... kid friendly. Take a minute after the jump and watch this recently discovered video...

Karl Urban Is Judge Dredd & I Am Offically Excited
I was thrilled that there was someone out there besides me who wanted to see Judge Dredd get a second chance on the big screen. The first attempt by Stallone & Co was a farce compared to the source material, and the campy sendup that resulted became a clear road map on "How Not To" adapt a comic book for the big screen. But the character of Dredd is so awesome that I had hoped to see him get another shot. Then Karl Urban (McCoy in JJ Abram's Star Trek) got tapped for the part and I was ecstatic. I have seen some action stills from the movie, but this is the 1st official profile shot of Urban (courtesy of Empire Magazine) with the Judge helmet on and I am speechless. This looks wonderful. I can't wait.. the film opens in December. see you there!!!

I Am Not 'Dredd-ing' This Movie...
(See what I did there... Dredd-ing... that's great)... Oh, um... I was thinking aloud again. Anyway, here is a crazy set pic from the new Judge Dredd movie, and it looks spot on to the amazing comic that it's based on (not like the way everything was wrong in the Stallone movie). Now while I can enjoy the Stallone Judge Dredd for its horribleness, I am truly looking forward to seeing Karl Urban play the Judge correctly. Anyway, here it is... enjoy:
