Grey Poupon: The Lost Footage

I have very fond memories of TV commercials from my childhood. After all, I grew up in the last era before cable TV took over, and networks were the only outlet for advertisers to get their message out to their prospective customers. If you talk to anybody who watched TV during the 80s they would instantly know sayings like "Where's the Beef?", "Pardon me, are those Bugle Boy jeans your wearing?" and "Mikey Likes It!!" from the commercials they appeared in. But one of the most well known catch line and commercials has to be the two proper English gentleman being driven in Rolls Royce's through the countryside when one asks the other "Pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?"Who doesn't know that one? Well, last night during the Oscars they aired a very cool update on that commercial, called 'Grey Poupon: The Lost Footage'. You can't just abscond with a man's jar of Grey Poupon and not expect repercussions... LOL. The new commercial is amazing, and it holds true to the spirit of the old commercial while poking fun at itself just enough to make us laugh. Well done Grey Poupon... well done indeed! A Judge Dredd Children Cartoon... Wait, What????

My undying love for Judge Dredd will hopefully get a big pay off at the end of this year when we finally get a cinematic version of the futuristic lawman that is true to the comics in the form of bad ass Karl Urban and the new Judge Dredd movie. Now before you jump on my back and tell me about Sylvester Stallone's portrayal of Dredd (for the record, I like the movie... but it STRAYS immensely from the source material), I am going to show you something that will make Sly's version look even MORE faithful to the gritty comic. Recently an 1970's era episode of the British children's show Bod was uncovered, and it featured Mega City's meanest lawman facing off against the Angel Gang & the Dark Judges. Now despite the fact that in the comics this situation would definitively get bloody, Dredd handles the situation a bit more... kid friendly. Lost Animated "John Carter of Mars" Footage From The 1930's Is Blowing My Mind Right Now....

Ya gotta love Youtube and the rest of the magic that the 'Net brings to our fingertips. Just yesterday I wrote a post about the upcoming John Carter film from Disney and how I have high hopes for the franchise. But I couldn't help but wonder how a book series that has been around for almost 100 years and has a very famous author (Edgar Rice Burroughs also created Tarzan) has taken so long to formally hit the big screen. So I did a bit of wiki research and found out that legendary Looney Toons director Bob Clampett wanted to do an animated version of the Burroughs series because both he and the author felt that a real life version would have been just to expensive and not actually possible to pull off.
