Nike is a huge sponsor of this years World Cup, and they are a huge player in the international soccer market. The only major player they do not have on their roster is Messi (albeit he is the best), but Nike is busting out all of its stars for its latest ad campaign entitled 'Risk Everything'. There are three films in all, and they are all pretty cool. 'Risk Everything' features Neymar of Brazil, Reynaldo of Portugal and Rooney of England as they undergo their World Cup journeys. 'Winner Stays' is a cool one in which kids play a pick up game of soccer at the park in which the winner stays on the pitch. The kids transform into all of the worlds greats, and they highlight typical moves from these guys. 'The Last Game' is animated and shows us a fictional future where soccer players are ruled out by Clones, who replace players who are human and therefore take risks. The clones become the stars of soccer, and the 'Originals" are sent packing... no longer the stars they once where. But the 'Originals', lead by the older Brazilian legend Ronaldo, come back strong for one last game. Ibrahimovic, Christiano Ronaldo, Iniesta, Brazilians Neymar & Luis, Rooney and Tim Howard lead the charge against The Clones... will they win? A great marketing campaign for Nike in this World Cup year. Catch all three videos after the jump...

Being Captain America Is Enough To Get The Girl Everytime
This ad for Gucci Guilty (who should sent a brother some swag just for mentioning their product)employs the look of Sin City and that's no surprise as it was directed by Frank Miller, the creator and director of the iconic stories. Both the comic books and motion pictures were revelations to me at a time in my life when I was reading more adult graphic novels. I loved the movie and it seems to me that if Miller can line his pockets with a little commercial advertising cash then he could be working on a sequel film. Only let someone else handle the script. We learned from the Spirit that he needs a little help in that area. However, as a visual craftsman, he is top notch, honest. I like the combination of Frank Miller's groovy style with advertising. It works magic in short bursts.

Happy 50th Bday Michael Jordan!!!!
Michael Jordan is one of the greatest basketball players of all time. That is not a question. Before Lebron James, he was by far the greatest I have ever seen in my life. But MJ is much more than a basketball player. The dud helped usher in the new era of the NBA back in the mid 80s, and he helped change the status quo of what was accepted in terms of play and style. MJ had so much swag. The gold chain he rocked during the dunk contest? Gangster. The crazy colorways of his kicks, the baggy shorts and slouched socks? Signature MJ. Taking his shoe line to dizzying heights, and becoming the quintessential spokesperson for a plethora of companies (Mickey D's, Gatorade, Hanes, etc)? Getting money from all angles. And the 6 rings that he won for the Chicago Bulls? Proof ON THE COURT that the boy could ball. The dunks were gravity defying, the storylines (flu game vs Utah, getting Isiah banned from The Dream Team, etc) were legendary, and the sneakers .. oh my god the sneakers!!!! The sneakers may be the biggest contribution that MJ has had on my life, cause I have had at least 1 pair of each of the 20+ yearly editions that Nike has been putting out since MJs rookie year. I always wanted to hate MJ for what he continued to do to my hometown NY Knicks, but I couldn't because he was just too much fun to watch. Happy bday Mike... Damn You Terry Richardson... Candice Swanepoel Too???
What did I do wrong in life and what did Terry Richardson do right that allows for such injustice to exist in this world? This guy must have rescued orphans from giant Tsiti flies in the jungle (if you get that movie reference then you are my people) or ran into a burning building to save old people in order to have a "Job" like he does. He literally photographs and videotapes the hottest women on the planet... and he gets them down to the most minimal clothing possible and doing some of the silliest shit ever. What the fuck do I have to do to be around people like this? This time Richardson has eschewed his normal accomplice Kate Upton and brought in Victoria Secret stunner Candice Swanepoel to star in his new Juicy Couture commercial called 'California Dreaming'. He shot it at his usual haunt, the Chateau Mormot, and even got himself into the commercial with his stupid glasses and ridiculous plaid shirt (seriously, does this guy really only own one shirt?). I hate you Terry Richardson... and by hate I mean I WANT TO BE YOU IN EVERY WAY!!!! Catch the video after the jump...

The Scariest Thing Ever Shown On Canadian TV by Cal From The Cave of Cool
When I was a kid we watched a lot of programs like Hockey on the CBC. In between programs the network had access to the vast archives of short films found at the National Film Board (NFB). They replaced the commercials that the CBC didn't need to run the network. Ask any Canadian if they remember this short film and most all of them will have some horrific memory attatched. It's a freakshow and my Monday contribution to Halloween week. It don't get scarier up here than this for me. Click after the jump to see the video...

Commercially Acclaimed Vol#10 - The Educators (FootLocker)
TV commercials are a part of our everyday lives as TV viewers. Even though Tivo and DVR have allowed us to "skip through" the commercials, the advertising companies a still trying to peak our interests by coming up with creative commercials. To me, great commercials are an art form and are under appreciated by a society that is always trying to speed through things. Think about it... how many times did you see a great commercial that made you laugh hysterically or want to go out and purchase the advertised product??? And how many times has the best part of the Super Bowl been the commercials during a blow out game??? Whether you want to admit it or not, commercials are cool as shit... and here are some of my favorites.
Being someone who has been both a teacher and a coach, as soon as I saw this commercial I had to throw it up. It features New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck (Go G-men!) and Eagles wide reciever Desean Jackson, NBAers Amare "NY Knick" Stoudemire and Rajon "Boston Celtics" Rondo, and Sanya Richards, a Team USA sprinter getting some of the student body ready for sports in the upcoming school year. Thats one hell of a teaching program... damn son! Whose been eating hummus??? Also you can see the Air Max 2010, Nike Air Hyperdunk 2010, Nike Air Wavy, Nike Trainer 1.2, and the Nike LunarGlide appearing throughout the spot. Enjoy the commercial...

Snickers + Zombies = Survival
I have been watching a lot of the 2010 World Cup this week, and I keep seeing this new Snickers/Zombies at the office commercial... it's so cool that I wanted to share it with you guys. The only problem is I couldn't find it ANYWHERE (It's like I made it up in my head. No mention of it AT ALL on the web) Hopefully I will find it for you guys soon.
But when I was searching for the commercial on Youtube, I did come across this fanmade Snickers/Zombie commercial by Blinky 88888, and I thought it was pretty cool in a "Shaun of the Dead" type way. So I included it here. Nothing satifies like a Snickers...lol!!!

Super Bowl XLIV: What Was Your Favorite Advertisements?
So Super Bowl XLIV is over now, and what a game it was. The Saints came through and pulled out the upset, defeating the Colts 31-17. While the game is a huge event, and fans all over wait for this game with baited breath, there is another reason people watch the big game... The Commercials!!! Everyone gets a kick out of the commercials, and to be perfectly honest with you it's the commercials that more people are talking about the next day. The networks charge top dollar for the spots that air during the game, and companies want to make sure that you remember the spots that you watched for years to come. Here are my favorite and least favorite Ad's of the game this year.
Favorites:
Sneak Attack Ninja by Doritos
Betty White by Snickers
Least Favorite:
Men Without Pants by Dockers
Taco Bell: It Rocks, It Rocks by Taco Bell
So there you go, just my opinion of the best and worst of Super Bowl XLIV. Hulu has set up this channel on it's page called Adzone, a site where you can see all of yesterdays Ad's in one spot.
Enjoy, and let me know the ones you liked the best or hated the least. Congrats New Orleans, you deserve it!!!
