Are 'The Walking Dead' and 'Toy Story' The Exact Same Thing?

When I was firsts sent this link by my friend Jen over on Facebook I had to laugh at the very thought of it. What could The Walking Dead possibly have in common with Toy Story. One is a gruesome survival story about a lawman trying to lead a group of his fellow survivors into the uncertain future of a zombie apocalypse. The other is the story of a lawman trying to lead his fellow toy compatriots into an uncertain future after their owner gets older. Wait a sec... maybe there is more to this theory than I originally thought!!! You will be surprised by how close these two properties actually are...

First up, an old stand-by, Profound Whatever, offers this re-imagining of Disney's lucky hare (whose name  he mixed with that of JFK assassin, Lee Harvey Oswald of course) armed to the whiskers in heavy artillery. The tubes used for spent bullet casings were an awesome touch and ya' gotta love the new design that's been popping up for fingers and hands for this scale creation. Mickey...watch the f*ck out!

Hollywood Is Dead... Just Ask Matt Busch

I came across the work of Matt Busch awhile ago when I saw a Star Wars novel at Barnes & Noble called "Death Troopers". I have never been such a avid reader of the extended universe Star Wars books, but this one looked really intriguing because it crossed zombies up with Star Wars... what the fuck else could you want in a 400 pg book? Just look at this cover:

So when I finally came across his website, Hollywood is Dead, a few days ago I was blown away by all the cool imagery he has created. He takes older Hollywood posters and "zombifies" them into undead masterpieces. These are not just some random photoshopped quickie jobs... you can see the artistic work that goes into each and every one. He even changes the actors names, the credits, and the titles of the films to reflect the seriousness of his mission to showcase an undead Hollywood. Like! Like? Volume #5

With all of the buzz around who may be the next Nolan casted 'Dark Knight' co-star, tumblr.com was abuzz with this unattributed work the posits CCD favorite Neil Patrick Harris as the next incarnation of Edward Nigma himself...'The Riddler' and noticeably Phillip Seymour Hoffman has made top billing...as 'Penguin' I presume. This work remains unattributed since it's probably been bouncing around since the first installment of Nolan's film trilogy. If you know who this creative son of a gun is...please feel free to let us, at CCD, know!

Toy Story 3 Is The Place To Be

Over the weekend I went to the movies. I wanted to see Get Him To The Greek, and had no problem getting tickets... because everybody at the theater was there to see Toy Story 3. Holy shit... I never really thought of the massive appeal that this movie is going to have. All the children who were youngsters when the first two came out are in their 20's now, so they are going to want to see how Andy and the gang end up. Then you factor in all the young children now who love Woody and Buzz and are dragging their parents to see the movie, and you get one ecclectic mix of movie goers who are rumored to have pushed the film close to $110 Million dollars over its opening weekend. Predictably, the other film opening this weekend, Jonah Hex, got crushed by the juggernaut that was Toy Story 3. I have not seen it yet, but I'm sure Mikey will get me to go check it out. DVD Release Day - March 22, 2010

The Blind Side - (Sandra Bullock, Tim McGraw, Quinton Aaron)

Trust me guys... Oscar got this one right. Sandra Bullock sparkles as the tough as nails rich lady with a heart the size of planet Earth. She feels bad for a large homeless boy named Big Mike that goes to here childrens school. So she does what any logical upper class white mother would do... she invites the boy to come live in the house with her husband and their two teenage kids!!! She takes a chance on Mike, and he learns what it is like to have a family that cares for him. This would suck the big one if it was  a typically made up story, but thats the best part: THIS IS A TRUE STORY!!! Michael Orr is currently playing in the NFL for the Baltimore Ravens, and most likely this is because of the kindness that was afforded to him way back when. This one is a tear jerker, and Bullock gives the performance of her long, outstanding career. You will love this one, trust us. When they talk about feel good movies, this is what they have in mind.

The Fantastic Mr. Fox - (George Clooney, Meryll Streep, Jason Schwartzman)

Wes Anderson is a wonderful director. This is not open for debate, this is a fact. I love when actors and directors take chances after they achieve a certain level of greatness. Tom Cruise has been sucking it up lately as an actor, but when he took a chance a poking some fun at himself and stole the show as the dancing movie mogul in Tropic Thunder. Thats what I mean by taking a chance... and it paid off. Anderson is known for his quirky movies and collaborating with Luke and Owen Wilson and Bill Murray repeatedly. He took a shot and adapted this stop motion version of the Roald Dahl classic novel. And boy did he nail it. It helps when you get George Clooney and Meryll Streep involved, because they are somewhat known to be pretty decent actors... WTF!!! This cast is incredible, from Clooney and Streep, to frequent Anderson collaborators Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman. This also features so many cameos they can not ven be named. This movie was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film award at this years Academy Awards, and it could have easily been one of the best picture nominees... no bullshit. If it wasn't for the mega hit UP, Fox would have won the category easily. Nothing wrong with coming in second to UP (great flick). Good for both adults and kids, this one won't disappoint.
