Geek and Sundry Vlogs has a stable of great geek related videos over at their Youtube page. That is a given... but some are definitely more appealing to my particular geek sensibilities than others. Critical Hit Cocktails does just that, with host Mitch Hutts, takes nerd friendly characters and properties and comes up with awesome drink recipes to satisfy your geeky palate. They make both alcoholic and non alcoholic recipes, and the best part is that if you take some of their non alcoholic drinks and just add a spirit of your choice you can still get a buzz out of it! These are great, and Hutts minds the classics for his inspiration. TMNT, Harry Potter... hell, the newest video is a Star Lord inspired drink, which is fitting since Guardians of the Galaxy is killing it right now. The best part is the instructions are easy to follow and the ingredients are simple and easy to obtain. So in just a few minutes you can turn yourself into the Nerdiest Mixologist of all time! All of them are fun, so make sure you check em all out... I will be making some of these behind the bar this weekend, so I will let you know how they shake out!

The Legend of Dark Link
I caught this awesome Internet video over at The Warp Zone on Youtube and I was laughing hysterically the whole time. It traces back what really happened when Link wandered into that cave and met the wizard to get his sword. Let's just say he wasn't the only one out adventuring that day... Dark Link was right there with him!!! Gotta love some racist humor, especially when it involves kid punching... Check it out after the jump...

'Thug Notes' - One Hoodlum's Take On Classic Literature Of the Past
Now I am as much of a Hip Hop head as one my age can be, and I was lucky enough to be a teen in the golden era of Hip Hop culture. I wear Jordans, and I still pretty much wear the same style of clothes that I have my whole life (Hoodie sweatshirts and jeans never really go out of style). So when I see an enterprising hood star take to the Internet to use his street styles to show that Hip Hop kids can get down with classic literature... well, I just have to give my props! Sparky Sweets, PhD. ( I swear that is his name, and I love him even more for it!) breaks down some of the classics you have grown up with. Classic Literature, Original Gangster (yup, that is the shows tagline!). Books like Lord of the Flies, Dune, The Count of Monte Cristo, and even To Kill A Mockingbird. My man Sparky breaks down the books with keen insights and intelligent observations, yet does so by busting out slang and hilarious hood analogies. They also feature animated vignettes to help convey the story. This is a great concept, and I would love to get my man Sparky Sweets on the CCD Podcast at some point. We shall see. For now, check out all their videos on the Thug Notes website and their Youtube page. You can also see the Dune and To Kill A Mockingbird one embedded after the jump... happy HOOD reading ya'll !!!!

The Andre The Giant Show: Episode #2 - Special Guest Pete Holmes
Andre is back on the set of his hugely (pun intended) successful talk show, and this time he is joined by former talk show host and stand up comedian Pete Holmes. Holmes reminisces about the life of a talk show host with Andre, discuss what loving with The Giant is all about, and even compare notes on what Andre's unique voice may be most useful for. All in all another great episode. You can tune in to future episodes by clicking here and subscribing. Also you can find Mike O'Gorman (the star of the show) over on Facebook. Go show him some love and tell 'em CCD sent you!!! Check out the video after the jump...

The Andre The Giant Show: Episode #1 With Guest Bryan Cogman (Game of Thrones Producer)
I like when people take chances... it is one of the only ways you can show your talents off. You can't be cookie cutter if you want to be noticed. Andre the Giant impressions are a dime a dozen... his unique voice makes him an easy idea when someone wants to make an impression funny. Jason Segal has mastered it, and turned it into material across numerous platforms like his movies and even SNL. So if you can find a way to bring a new spin to something that is old hat, well then you have the opportunity to be special. Comedian Mike O'Gorman might be on to something with his latest project, The Andre the Giant show on Youtube. O'Gorman becomes the 8th Wonder of the World and gets behind the desk (albeit a pretty tall desk) to conduct his own late night talk show. The first episode taps Game of Thrones producer Bryan Cogman as the special guest. The wig is great, the voice is spot on, as is the aloof nature that we would expect Andre to have exhibited if he was a host. The jokes are good (Andre's face when he finds out Game of Thrones is a book = Priceless), and what happens when Andre encounters Cogman's copy of Game of Thrones is one of the funniest things I have seen in a while! I hope they make many more of these. They have their own Youtube channel, and so far one episode is posted. Subscribe on Youtube to not miss a single episode! Check it out embedded after the jump...

'Ex-Men': Cyclops - A Short Film by Pete Holmes
Pete Holmes is a crazy comedian with a show on TBS and has a pretty funny Youtube channel with a bunch of funny skits and crazy stuff filling its table of contents. But one of the funniest things I saw while I was over there had to be 'Ex-Men', a skit that portrays Professor X of the X-Men in the role of a CEO and Cyclops in the role of a about to be downsized employee. Everything is a business, even a team of mutant super heroes! The idea behind this is kind of genius, the name of the skit is brilliant, and the actors look and sound exactly what I would like to imagine Professor X & Cyclops to be. Check out the full skit after the jump...

Geek Construction Done Right - Man At Arms: Mjolnir
Man At Arms is a cool series that allows a master blacksmith Tony Swatton a chance to hone his craft and apply it to weaponry from geek culture. He has made a ton of weapons for movies, TV shows, and much more... and Awe Me has decided to create a web series based on his cool ass creations, and they are fantastic. I have watched about 7 of them already... but the one that is most recent has the most baring on current events. Thor is hot right now thanks to The Dark World, and Swatton makes a copy of Mjolnir that is just crazy! It is hollow, yet still weighs TWENTY POUNDS!!!! Good lawd! Not this is not the first time we have seen replica weapons made. Our good buddies over at Skelton Key Studios have killed many a replica (check out where we featured them here and here)... but those were not PRACTICAL weapons in the sense that they were fakes that just looked really great. These are usable weapons being made by Swatton... just check the video for proof of that. Make sure you check out all the videos they have, and check out the Mjolnir list after the jump...

The GI Joe PSA's Get Tweaked A Little Bit...
I was always a fan of GI Joe, it was right up there with He Man and the Thundercats in my book. But the dumbest part of the show was the PSAs at the end of every episode... the preachy nonsense that ensued after a 30 minute show of people shooting at each other never quite made sense to me... So of course somebody re-dubbed the PSAs and uploaded them on Youtube. Now they are lewd, crude, and full of the child abusing dialogue that we here at CCD know and love! Check em out after the jump...

"Breaking Bad Meets Seinfeld" by Matin Comedy
Breaking Bad is on the way toward its series finale, and it has been getting more and more serious as the episodes have carried on through this last season. Shit is getting real in New Mexico, and there isn't anything funny about it. Key characters are dead, shit is not looking good for any of the surviving characters, and it is a generally bleak outlook for everyone involved in Heisenberg's inner and extended circle. But that doesn't mean that there haven't been some humorous moments throughout the shows run!!! What about that time Walt threw a pizza on the roof of the garage? Or the time Walt confronted Skylar's boss about the proposed affair he suspected them of having? Those were funny... right? Well they become infinitely funnier when they are set to a laugh track and the funny Seinfeld music is added in. Thanks to Matin Comedy for making these videos and posting them on Youtube. Nice to look at what has become such a dark series in a funny light every once and awhile. It's amazing what a bit of music and a laugh track can do to lighten the mood. Trailers From Hell: Director Ti West Takes On Clue
I have been a fan of Trailers From Hell for quite a while now, a web series that sits down with famous directors and allows them to talk briefly about some of their favorite movies and the trailers that were made for them. I like that TFH includes luminaries such as Joe Dante (Gremlins), Roger Corman (countless producer of B movies extraordinaire), Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead), Lloyd Kaufman (Troma films), and many others newcomers as well to get a few comments on the movies they love and the trailers that help promote them. One of those newcomers is Ti West, director of the criminally underrated 'House of the Devil' and The Innkeepers. West is one of the hottest young horror directors in Hollywood, and he picked an interesting choice for his Trailers From Hell debut: He picks apart Clue, on of my personal favorite movies and the movie that happened to be the film that West saw first in the cinema. It is good to get some feedback on classic movies from heavyweights in the game, especially when it is short and sweet... I also love that they are not breaking down serious films, more of the garden variety fun stuff that they liked when they were kids. Check out the hundreds of videos that Trailers From Hell have up on their Youtube page, and check out Ti West talking up the murder mystery after the jump...

Chun-Li Is Jealous... And She Isn't Gonna Take It Anymore!!!
I am a huge fan of watching people slip and fall, especially on video. I have been an ardent viewer of America's Funniest Home Video's since the 80s, and my son has followed in my footsteps... he loved the show since he was like 2 years old and used to call it "People Fall Down" instead of its real name. Truth is, if I fell I KNOW FOR A FACT that it would be funny to watch and people will laugh... so fuck it, I am going to laugh to. But this video featuring Chun-Li of Street Fighter fame is taking the "People Fall Down" concept to a whole new level. The creators, Parodie Pub of France, have taken the famous Street Fighter 2 chick and super imposed her into scenes in which people wipe out... and wipe out hard. They use her special moves (various kicks, punches, hadoukens and trips) to justify how these people bust their asses, and the final results are absolutely spectacular. This may be the funnest way to spend 2 and a half minutes of your day. Check it out after the jump...
So.... Hank & Marie Watched The MTV Movie Awards...
I absolutely love this meme that is going to start trending on Youtube very hard in the vein of 'Hitler Reacts'. People are definitely going to start entering any crazy or outlandish video into the screen of Hank & Marie's living room TV and watch as the stare in disbelief and horror at whatever unfolds. In this case it is a fake-finger wearing, twerk team shaking Miley Cyrus and her over the top performance at the 2013 MTV awards. Marie might even be covering her mouth at the Beetlejuice-esque suit that Robin Thicke is sporting in this one. All in all a great execution on a meme featuring a great scene from 'Breaking Bad'. Astronaut Chris Hadfield Shows Us What Those Guys Do For Fun On The International Space Station... It's Bowie Time!!!!
I always wondered what astronauts do for fun up on those space ships and space stations. I am sure there are movies & video games, that sort of technology seems easy enough to supply given the technology involved in space travel. But karaoke... or better yet re-enacting a classic rock tune by making your own video? I would have never thought it possible. But astronaut Chris Hadfield has done just that, and boy has he picked just the right tune to do it. Hadfield takes on David Bowie's 'Space Oddity', a song that revolves around the communication between ground control on Earth and a lone astronaut named Major Tom who is on a mission in space (for those that live under a fucking rock... I am sure most of you knew what Space Oddity was about!). What a great idea, and it is executed perfectly. Gotta love the anti gravity shots, and the backgrounds of outer space and the stars. I love this video. Thanks to Rob & Cal for posting this over on Facebook. So perfect. Check out more of Chris Hadfield's videos over at his Youtube page (he has some good ones), and check out the Space Oddity video after the jump...

Drive For Sega Genesis... Wait, What?
I love when modern TV shows and films are given the 8 bit Nintendo/ 16 bit Sega/Super Nintendo treatment. It is old hat now, but still pretty cool. Youtuber Gunderson Munderson seems to have nailed it with his rendition of one of my more recent favorite films, Drive. He gets the vibe of the movie down with his buildings, and with his music choice (which, according to his notes on the Youtube vid was created with the same Yamaha music emulator that was used for all Genesis games). Very cool indeed... I would play the shit out of this game. Check out the video after the jump...

School Of Thrones - Episode 2 & 3
A few weeks back I posted the first episode of a very good web series entitled School of Thrones, which takes the characters of George R.R. Martin's Game of Thrones series and puts them in a high school setting like Beverly Hills 90210. The show has some excellent young actors and actresses in it, and they have two new episodes for you to enjoy up on their Youtube page. The web series is super ironic and plays on all the things we love about Game of Thrones, so if you want to have a little bit of fun with your Westeros characters than make sure you watch all three. New episodes air every week on Sunday, so subscribe on their Youtube page so you don't miss a beat! Check out episode 2 & 3 after the jump....

Now That Is One Bathroom Door I Don't Want To Be On Either Side Of...
Official Comedy is a Youtube channel that focuses on comedy sketches. One of their funnier bits is when they take two scenes from separate movies that are set in a similar locations and then mash them up. Take for example The Shining and Dumb & Dumber. Both feature memorable bathroom scenes, albeit under very different circumstances. Harry's diarrhea faces blend perfectly with the threatening persona of Jack Torrance... it turns out to be quite the interesting mash-up! Check it out after the jump....

Fresh Perspectives: So This Is Where The Idea For Those AT & T Commercials With The Kids Came From!!!!
I have been totally enamored by the AT & T commercials that have been airing over the past few months with comedian Beck Bennett starring as a straitlaced guy in a suit asking a group of kindergarten students what they think is better, fast or slow (as in the speed of 4G internet service on mobile devices). The kids give honest, rambling, answers... typical of what you would expect from a 5 year old. All the while Bennett is playing the straight man, and his low key reactions and statements back to the children are hysterical. My favorite is the Werewolf one (click here to see it). Something this funny and original couldn't have come from a corporate company like AT & T, so I did a bit of research. Turns out that the commercials are based on a sketch Youtube program that Beck Bennett ran called Fresh Perspectives. In the show Bennett and a 5 year old sit together in chairs and discuss major political and social topics, such as gay marriage, the Trayvon Martin shooting, and the Republican nomination for president. The results are no short of fantastic. These kids are hysterical, and Bennett is as condescending and sarcastic as ever. Great stuff from a cool comedian. Good to see great ideas get the mainstream treatment sometimes. Out of the mouths of babes.... really funny stuff. You can see all the Fresh Perspective clips over at Beck Bennett's Youtube page by clicking here, and check out my faves after the jump...

Movie Them Party: A Guy, His Keyboard and His Headphones Take Us Back... Way Back!!!
Movie themes, scores and song selections might be some of the most memorable parts of a film... but they are often the most overlooked. A good song placed in the opening credits of a film can start the whole process right, in the middle of a pivotal scene it can really drive it home, and in the closing credits could totally end the whole process on a wonderful note. I came across this wonderful little home made video made by Thomas O'Brien where he recreates some of the most magical movie musical moments (say that 4 times fast!) in history. Enjoy the journey...
