The Expendabros: An Online Contra-style Game That Crosses The Expendables With BroForce...

BroForce is an online game that is in the 8 Bit style of Contra, Double Dragon and Jackal... it channels the 80s aesthetic of the old NES side scrolling action games that we all grew up with and love so much. So a mash-up between the game company and the upcoming Expendables 3 is a pretty obvious choice to promote the movie. Enter Expendabros, a game that is exactly like BroForce but features Barney and the gang taking on terrorists, blowing shit up, and kicking ass in general across the board like it was 1986 all over again! The CCD Podcast: Episode #17 - The Best "Expendable" Movie Ever or 'More On Board... Moron Board.... Yeah, I Like That'

Whether you like the movies or not, the Expendable movie franchise is flourishing and has made a bunch of duckets over the past few years. Sly Stallone came up with the idea of a team of commandos who would be made up of past action stars that are now out of the spotlight. Even though that was what was teased, the first film finds us seeing old guys like Sly, Dolph Lundgren, and Arnold with newer action stars like Jason Statham, Jet Li and Terry Crews. It ended up being a lot of fun, and made lots of money... so in Expendables 2 they brought in lots of other 80s/90s former action stars like Chuck Norris, Bruce Willis, Jean Claude Van Damme and many more to make the sequel even bigger. And now we are on the dawn of The Expendables 3.... and we are getting even more former action stars!!! Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, and Harrison Ford are joining the already expansive cast, and I am sure it will be quite fun. So in honor of the franchise and all it has accomplished Jedi Rob, Mike D and Jeff Bond take a look back at the former movies that these guys have been in where they were kicking major ass. We are running down some of the classics of action cinema, and it is fun looking back at all the goofy shit these guys have done. Who Would You Want To See Cast In 'The Expendabelles' ???

So on the eve of the release of The Expendables 3, Sly Stallone is sitting pretty. He has hatched a successful action movie franchise from a kitchsche idea and turned into a money making machine. But he is always looking for the next step, and the truth of the matter is that he ain't getting any younger as he approaches 70 rather quick. So why not maybe getting the ladies into the Expendables game? They are kicking around an idea for a movie called 'The Expendabelles', which would see a female version of the squad possibly headed up by Ripley herself... SIGOURNEY WEAVER!!! Weaver would play Barney Ross's (Sly's character) ex-wife... and her team could be made of some older and newer action heroines. So who would make your dream team of Expendabelles? The Expendables 2... Starring Nic Cage????

One of the most anticipated films of this summer has to be The Expendables 2, the sequel to teh hard hitting action flick that features every 80s action star that wasn't in the first flick. Between the two movies we are talking some heavy hitters: Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Statham, Li, Lundren, Norris, JCVD, etc... but how could they leave out the man who makes everything better, Nic Cage??? Digital artist Matheus Candido does his best to remedy that with his version for the most bad ass action team to ever grace the big screen. And just as a hint, he includes everybodies bee hating favorite movie star!!!! Check it out after the jump....

So These Are The Character Posters For 'The Expendables 2'... ALL 12 OF THEM!!!

'The Expendables' was an excellent foray into the action genre, mainly because it featured a plethora of older action stars coming together to make a kick ass film. Since it was so much fun, highly regarded by both fans & critics alike, and made crazy cash... well,it was only a matter of time before a sequel was shot. Director Simon West did just that, and in just two short summers we have 'Expendables 2'. Not only are the mainstays from the original back (Sly, Jet Li, Jason Statham, Randy Couture, and Terry Crews, Bruce Willis, Arnie, etc), they have added some powerhouse action stars of the past (Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme) & some new bloods (Liam Hemsworth, Yu Nan) as well. It's gonna be epic... a great way to close out the Summer of 2012 movie season when it comes out on August 17th. Catch ALL 12 character posters after the jump....

Bruce Willis Talks Red, Expendables 2...

I am really looking forward to the movie Red, which comes out Oct. 15th... it continues the trend that was started by the Expendables in that there is no substitution for experience. Starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, John Malkohvich, and Helen Mirren as former CIA operatives who are Retired and Extremely Dangerous (RED... get it?) that need to be wiped out, and they are not going quietly. They plan on fighting back and proving that just because they are a bit older, doesn't mean that they kick any less ass. It looks great, and its based on a solid comic book (go read it first!), so I think it will be quite fun.

We came across a post over at Den of Geek that caught up with Willis doing press for Red, and he discusses the much rumored upcoming Expendables Pt. 2. Listen to what he had to say in an interview with Coming Soon:

"I talked to Sly, and he's going for all the marbles this time...and he's going to get EVERYBODY in this time. Even Stone Cold Steve Austin, who took two bullets in the original... he's coming back to. Hopefully, they'll start shooting it when while we're young enough to survive!"   

Now, the rumor of Willis coming back to play the bad guy in the Expendables 2 has been floating around for a minute, but the announcement that Sly is "getting EVERYBODY" for the movie really got my mind going. Who is Sly gonna reach out to? Which 80's era bad ass will be joining the Exependables team or popping up on Willis's rogue villian squad? Here are my top 5 guesses:

    Bruce Campbell- Come on, how can they leave out Ash? His witty one liners can lighten up the testosterone heavy movie and we all know he can kick some ass... just ask those pesky Deadites!

   Mel Gibson- Mad Max, Riggs, and one of the most underrated gangster roles of all time, Porter in Payback... in playing these roles Gibson has showed that he can kick some serious ass and hold his own with some action heavy weights... not to mention, after hearing those tapes I would be scared shitless of him as well.

   Kurt Russell- Stuntman Mike in Death Proof, MacReady in The Thing, Snake F'n Plissken... yeah, this guy needs to be on the team. I would love it if they gave him an eye patch as a homage to Kurt's "Escape" days... now that would be amazing.

   Chuck Norris- "Chuck Norris and Superman once fought each other on a bet. The loser had to start wearing their underwear on the outside of their pants.", "Chuck Norris died 20 years ago... death is just to scared to tell him yet.", "It is said that there are weapons of mass destruction in the middle east... this can not be true, since Chuck Norris lives in Oklahoma."... 'Nuff Said.

   Harrison Ford- Indy, Han Solo... come on bro, the dudes resume is pretty sick. So what if he's like 70? He could get it done... and lets not forget that he would love to erase Indy 4 as his last action effort. Swinging monkeys and people eating ants??? WTF George & Steve???

Ok Bruce Willis, Lets Get To Work...

Bruce Willis is one of my favorite actors, and to be honest with you guys, it's not why you think. It's not because of the Die Hard movies (I do love them) or The Last Boyscout (unreal!!!) or any of the other billion dollar movies he has made... no, its because of his role as Hudson Hawk.

Now I know that this is not his best work, but this is the film that made me love Willis as an actor. Not to mention the fact its one of my all time favorites (don't knock it till you re-watch it... it holds up!!!)

Anyway, over the weekend there has been some grumbles about some really cool projects that may include the great Bruce in some capacity, and to be perfectly frank, his involvement in both of these projects makes them much more exciting for me.

First up, Sylvester Stallone has joined Twitter and one of his first Tweets was that he had a great idea for The Expendables Pt. 2. Why not bring back possible CIA affiliate Church (who was played by Willis) and make him the new villain? He was not totally honest with Sly and the team when he hired them to overthrow the drug trade in Vilena, so maybe the gang wants to go exact some revenge on Mr. Church? I like this because its not often big name actors get to play villains, and this can be fun. Especially if we get to see these 5 guys back in action again:

Next, we have a rumor that Willis himself is calling executives over at Marvel's movie division and is expressing interest in portraying Benjamin Grimm in the new Fantastic Four reboot. He would appear shortly in the beginning of the movie, and would voice the CGI version of the Big Orange Machine throughout the rest of the movie. Also rumored to be involved in this film are Adrien Brody for Mr. Fantastic and Amber Heard as Invisible Girl, and True Bloods favorite good guy vamp Stephen Moyer as the evil Dr. Doom. I kinda liked the campyness of the two FF movies, but I know they were cheesy. Can they make a truly cutting edge/ sci-fi version of FF??? With this cast they can.... lets see how this all plays out. If these rumors are true, please Bruce: Say YES!!!!

1. Scott Pilgrim vs. The World - I have been fascinated with this movie since the first day I heard about it. First, the comic that it is based on was epic. The book has all this crazy magical/super power/kung-fu fighting stuff going on, but is played as part of normal everyday life. Secondly, Cera is a perfect match for the title character. Third, the amazing list of actors who will be portraying his slutty girlfriend Ramona Flower's seven evil boyfriend's is superb: Brandon Routh, Chris Evans, and Jason Schwartzman just to name a few. Fourthly, Mary Elizabeth Winstead is playing Ramona, and she is a joy to look at. And lastly, Edgar Wright is a fucking genius.... a perfect fit to direct this movie.

What a dream of mine it has been for me to see Schwarzenegger, Stallone, and others knee deep in explosions and gunfire...together. I have been eagerly awaiting this film's arrival...not just since it was announced a year or 2 ago....but since I was 9 years old.

Trailer Trash Talk Volume #1 by Kristen Grillo

Well hello folks! I am pretty excited to jump aboard the massive ship that is CCD. Since its debut earlier this year, I’ve been keeping up with the site and its many talented contributors. For me CCD is unlike anything that I’ve surfed across yet. In one place you have so many different things right at your fingertips. Instead of jumping around from one site to another in order to get my daily dose of geek that involves TV shows, movies, music, books, sports, art, etc., I can just make one easy pit stop right here. Mike D. has surely done a great job putting together a nice collaboration of entertainment in all its form and I am very pleased & thrilled to be apart of that. With that said, I’d like to introduce to you my own form of contribution: Movie Trailer Reviews.


I don’t know about you but one of my most favorite things about going to see a movie in the theaters is the anticipation of the previews. A trailer can really make or break a movie. I think it is one of the most important elements in film advertising. A good trailer will turn you on. It will get you excited and tingly. In fact, it’s so god damn good that you’re actually pissed off you’ll have to wait 14 more months to see it in it's full form. There's also another form of a successful movie trailer. The sneaky & deceitful kind where they actually make garbage look glorious. ::cough, cough – Transformers:: They're known as the bastard masters of manipulation. We’ve all fell for it. The trailer looks so fantastic that there is no way on EARTH this movie could suck. Riiight. Get real.

So, let’s do the damn thing and get this started, shall we? Feel free to post your opinions, feedback, fun facts, gripes, bitchery and debauchery and such. In fact, I insist upon it!

First up is The Expendables, starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, (Stone Cold) Steve Austin, Arnold (mah man!) Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. Let me tell you, this is all the advertising I need. Just take a hot gander at this line up! To be honest, the importance of the plot goes right out the window here. They could be rescuing a truck load of puppies and stolen daffodils in Kansas for all I care; I’d still go see this movie. The fact that I’m seeing Stallone, Arnold, and Bruce crammed into one scene together, even if it's for two minutes, is more than enough bliss for me. Two minutes with these guys is all I need. And I can guarantee the supporting line up of Li, Statham, Crews & Lundgren will only add heavenly fuel to this glorious fire.


This preview leaves me feeling like this Expendables is a little similar to that of Stallone's Rambo released in 2008. A group of mercenaries goin’ off into the jungle to kill some dopey Vietnemese lookin’ basterds to rescue…..someone. Who? What?! Do they ever really say specifically?! Does it matter? Not really. We’re just here for the carnage, right? The led pumping, neck snapping, knife plunging, witty cornball one liner action fun! If Stallone was the only star driven vehicle here, I’d probably be less interested. I just watched that Rambo on cable the other night. How many times must I watch this fella perform the same old line o' work? I get it, pal. Your 63 years old and JACKED and not ready to hang up your bullet belt yet but at least you got a little creative with your casting this time. All these guys will bring different types of butchery to the table. That's a given. And for the people who love what each of them have been individually capable of in their past films will most certainly roll out to see them ham it up here in The Expendables. Count me in, suckas! I’ll be front & center with my war paint on. Will you?

The Expendables: Anticipation Grade = A... Sign Me Up!!! I'll be first in line

The Other Guys. Starring Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrel, Samuel L. Jackson, Eva Mendes, & Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.


When it comes to directing a comedy these days, there are usually only two men that you know will successfully deliver the goods: Judd Apatow & Adam McKay. Not too many people are familiar with Adam McKay’s work. You barely ever see his name as a driving force to promote his movies. With Apatow, it’s always the opposite. You’re always made aware that he’s “the guy” who brought you 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, & Superbad, a movie that he didn’t even direct (only produced). McKay on the other hand, rarely gets the notice he deserves. How do I know this? Because whenever I bring up his name, no one ever has a clue who I’m talking about. Until I mention what he’s done: Stepbrothers, Anchorman, Talladega Nights and he’s also the co-creater of the website I’m sure most of you frequently visit: www.funnyordie.com (“Ooooo, right. That guy!) If any of y’all are fans of these films, you’ll be happy to know that Mr. Underdog McKay has teamed up with Will Ferrell again to bring you The Other Guys, starring Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell, Samuel L. Jackson, Eva Mendes, & Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. It’s set to hit theaters this summer on August 6, 2010. The film’s premise is about two mismatched New York City detectives who try and seize an opportunity to step up like the city's top cops whom they idolize. Only…things don't quite go as planned. And of course, comedic hijinks ensue. Let’s see what the preview has to say for itself:


First things first: It is NEVER a mistake to have Samuel L. Jackson pop up within the first 10 seconds of a preview, while probably delivering one of the movies most funniest lines (“someone call 9-1-holy-shhh…”). Haha! How great he? Then we’re introduced to the oddest couple you ever did see: Sir Calvin Klein, rough guy Marky Mark sitting right across from that dopey Frank The Tank. What a strange sight, no? What I believe Wahlberg is trying to do with accepting a role like this is direct himself towards new acting territory. His recent efforts to stray away from the usual tough guy material and dip into more emotional roles, such as The Lovely Bones and The Happening, were not too well received. So what do you do when your career’s hittin’ a bit of a critical bump? Try and make ‘em laugh. Laughter’s the best medicine. It worked for guys like DeNiro, right? (Analyze This, Meet The Parents) Perhaps it’ll work for this guy. Hey, if the shoe fits, my man….

The action scenes look like your typical Hollywood fluff butter but it’s the comical interactions between our two main gents that are very engaging. Ferrell, in his usual goofball fashion, seems to comfortably play off of Wahlberg’s intimidating demeanor and it works really well. My favorite scene from the trailer is when we realize that the always supa-dupa fly n’ sexy Eva Mendes plays Will Ferrell’s wife. (For real?!) And just like that Wahlberg’s saying exactly what’s on our minds at that moment: “Come on, seriously….Who is that?” By the end of the trailer, I’ve really warmed up to these two guys being on the same screen together. And if the preview is that successful, imagine how the film must be. Of course it is way too early for us to get our hopes that high but judging from the sample slice we just tasted in the preview, I’m sure it is safe to say that we will get what we came for: an entertaining ensemble that will keep you laughin’ and snortin’ from start to finish.
