10 Awesomely Sexy Gender Swapping Cosplayers From SDCC 2012

Cosplay is reaching all new heights with every convention that comes and goes. More companies are making kick ass costumes, people are becoming better at creating costumes themselves, and the creativity level has gone far past the norms of just silly Superman's & Batman's. But one of the coolest things that is happening more and more is gender swapping costumes. I am noticing more and more gender swapped characters at these things, and to be honest its a trend I am digging in full. Think about it... there are mad male characters for girls to slut up, and I would much rather see a sexy Chewbacca or Thor than a chubby nerd in those roles (even though most of those nerds have cool costumes as well!). So I decided to peruse the galleries of Cosplayers that were posted over at Dorkly and highlight the top 10 gender swaps that appeared at this years comic con in San Diego. Prepare for the sexiness... enjoy the pics after the jump!

Steampunk Star Wars, Done Right by Bjornn Hurri

Star Wars is definitely one of the more popular topics of fan art... everyone likes taking their own try at re-designing classic characters such as Chewbacca or Yoda. The Steam Punk variety of these re-creations seem to become more and more popular lately. But when an artist comes through with designs as cool as these, they deserve to be highlighted. Artist Bjornn Hurri has done just that, and this gallery is sick!!!! Since Luke, R2D2 & Darth Vader are missing I would venture to guess that Hurri is not done yet. Click after the jump to see all of your favorite characters from a galaxy far, far away given the old Steam Punk once over...

The Chewy Trilogy

Check out these recut versions of the original Star Wars trilogy, this time with everyones favorite Wookie as the center of attention. These re-edited versions of movies put Chewy front and center and cut out all the other boring details. I never knew that the same sound could be expressed so many different ways. Enjoy.

A Star Wars Medley

Here is a few various Star Wars tidbits I found while perusing the internet over the past few days. With yesterday being Star Wars Day and with the 2011 Brooklyn Star Wars Marathon on the horizon (July 3rd @ The Wicked Monk) I thought it would be imperative to share them with you guys. Hope you enjoy.

First up, we got a awesome fan video of Corey Vidal (accapella singer extraordinaire) singing a tribute to John Williams. This isn't for the average person, but will warm the heart of any true Star Wars fan.

Next up, here is a deleted... er,um, an ADDED scene from Star Wars by artist Kerry Callen. Very fitting with the original tone of Episode IV, no?

And finally, here is another clip... this one features Chewbacca and his hatred of shoveling snow. You guessed it, Chewy is not the happiest camper.

'I'd Buy That...As a Tee!' ...Volume 3 by Jeff Bond

Spring has sprung and I could use a few new unique T-Shirts to really make a statement without saying a word. A Statement like "I'm a geek that doesn't take much of anything seriously...I'm approachable and easily abused."

Here's some of the T-shirts I have my eye on to do just the trick but, there's only one problem....they aren't for sale yet! Please click the links below to the  Threadless.com voting pages for each and give these beauties '5' ratings so I can throw 'em on my charge card one day.

'Bigfoot Spotted On....' Endor! Only that's NO 'Bigfoot' that's the one and only Chewbacca milling about amongst the shrubbery. I love that if you actually do cozy up a bit closer to 'Read What Locals Are Saying' as the t-shirts suggests, you'll find nothing but, the native language of the cute and cuddly Ewoks! Unless, of course, you read 'Ewok'...than please feel free to translate for me in the comment section below

'Insane For Brain' is a play on the Cypress Hill lyric, of course..but, this shirt would look kinda loco plastered around my chest cavity when I'm front and center for the next season of 'Walking Dead' on AMC!

**Please click on 'READ MORE' below for quite a few more Tees!***

Check out this awesome George Lucas as Chewbacca T-shirt 'George's Secret' from Split Reason. It will run about 20 bucks, but a very cool and original take on the Star Wars characters is well worth it.

Star Wars: Asian Warrior Edition

Artist Steve Bialik & Spoke Editions present his interpretations of what certain Star Wars characters would look like if  they were born in the era of Samurais and Ninjas... and they are awesome. Not only are they phenomenal, but they are for sael... nice! Just click the link above and you will be brought to Spoke Editions Big Cartel page, which is like a marketplace for artists to sell their work. The prints will run you $15 bucks a pop, or six will cost you $75 bucks... not to bad. They are 11x27 prints and are limited, so act fast. I love the way Bialik chose to use fan favorites such as Boba Fett & Admiral Akbar alongside all the rest of the usuall suspects (Luke, Leia, Jabba, Han, Chewy & the Emperor). Here you go... enjoy! Tell us what you think in the comment section below.

Luke

Admiral Akbar

Now Thats A Star Wars Prequel Even Joe Esq Will Like...

...OK, maybe not (lets see his comments after he views it!!!). This was a student film by Daniel Smith, and it was the winner of the Star Wars Fan Movie Challenge. I posted the cleaned up version of the film that played at Celebration V last month, but it is pretty much the same original short film Smith completed. There is also a 3-D version of the clip. You can watch that by clicking here, but you need 3-D glasses (even the old fashion cardboard ones will do!!!) Tell us what you think about this short in the comments below. Thanks to Io9 for being the best at helping me pass my day.
