Tim Burton's Original 'Nightmare Before Christmas' Poem Narrated by Christopher Lee!!!

The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of my all time favorite films... not animated films, films in general. There are many reasons why this is the case, but I think the fact that it transcends seasons and genres better than any other film I have ever encountered. It is a Halloween movie as much as it is a Christmas movie. It is an underdog story as well as a sinister plot to displace good ole Saint Nick. It is horror, comedy, action and adventure all rolled into one... and it is fantastic. The idea for the film came from a poem written by Tim Burton. He created the poem way back in 1982 and I have seen it once or twice, but never in this fashion. It is narrated by frequent Burton collaborator Christopher Lee, aka Lord Summerisle himself (if you know what that is, you are my people)!!! My pal Samurai Frog over at Electronic Cerebrectomy posted the video and I thought it was a great way to transition from All Horror Week to the 2012 holiday season. Enjoy the video after the jump...

These Vintage TV Guide Ads For Horror Movies Take You Back!!!!

The 80s were a great time to be a horror fan and a teenager. Due to the surge that was provided by Beta & VHS machines coming into a home, horror films were pushed to the forefront of teen viewing. Think about it... what would you rather watch with your girlfriend on a Friday night? You pop in a Jason movie and BOOK! she is sitting on your lap with her head buried in the crook of your neck before the first camper is killed.TV executives are not dumb, so they started to realize the potential of screening these types of films on the air... especially around Halloween time. And if they are going to do it, they were going to have to advertise. Enter TV Guide, and the over the top advertisements that accompanied these screenings. The gang over at Cool Ass Cinema consolidated a bunch of these, which I discovered after doing a Google search for the images after a seen a Friday the 13th ad was posted on Electric Cerebrectomy (check out both of those blogs... really cool stuff!). So I grabbed all of them and a few more I found to share with you guys for All Horror Week. Enjoy the vintage horror love after the jump...

Darn Dirty Grape Ape by Captain Ribman

I love all my peoples, especially the people associated with CCD. I am always scouring the Net for things to post here on CCD, but whenever I see cool shit on the Internet that others really love I usually grab them to post as well. This happened last night when I was perusing the eclectic blog Electronic Cerebrectomy. In one of his fan art roundups he posted an excellent mash up of Grape Ape & Planet of the Apes by Captain Ribman. Excellent execution and very well thought out, a perfect example on how you should go about performing a mash up of two properties. I also like that Grape Ape is a bit more obscure in comparison to Planet of the Apes. I know my main man Jeff Bond will love this one!!!! Catch the full picture after the jump...

Is The New Winnie The Pooh Movie A Remake Of The Black Cauldron?
