Will 'Gone Girl' Possibly Be Able To Live Up To The Hype?

'Gone Girl' is David Fincher's newest film, and it could not have more expectations set upon it even before it opens. Even though it opens in October, long after Summer Movie season, it sports an epic cast and is based on a huge selling novel of the same name. The adaption has been a long time coming... and considering Fincher's controversial handling of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo adaption (I liked it, not everyone did) it is an interesting project for him to bounce back with. The pressure is there, and having Batman as your star (I mean Ben Affleck, not Adam West!) certainly puts even more eyes on the movie and how it will turn out. Everyone I talk to who has read the book raves about how it twists and turns, and how much mystery it actually contains. I can't think of anyone better than Fincher to take this kind of film on. A long form trailer is finally here, and it looks interesting to say the least. I really like the supporting cast as well (Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, Emily Ratajkowski, Patrick Fugit and Tyler Perry) and think they can make for an eclectic movie. Empire Magazine (Australia) x Joshua Budich Pays Homage To The Best Auteurs Of Our World...

Joshua Budich is a very talented artist and certainly one I assume would be up to the task of creating a epic cover for a magazine. But when it comes to tackling the amount of talent that is present in the "Filmmaker" issue of Australia's Empire Magazine, it is definitely a challenge for any artist to get it just right. Budich nails it, not only featuring 7 top filmmakers on the cover (Copolla, Spielberg, Weedon, del Torro, Fincher, Lynch and Cameron) but also including interesting tidbits of art from past works of the auteurs. But Budich based his art choices on what these directors ACTUALLY contributed to this issue, so there are Easter Egg hints as to what is discussed right there on the cover! The final result is nothing short of amazing, pretty much as good as a Mondo poster in its entirety. The issue is packed full of contributions from everyone mentioned above, as well as even more... Is Keyzer Soze John Doe? Is John Doe Keyzer Soze? A Video Explanation By Tony Stark

The Usual Suspects & Se7en were two classic movies that were released in 1995 and share a few key components. Most notably the villain in both films is played by a relatively young in his career actor, Kevin Spacey. Up until that point Spacey had been a supporting bit actor in a few TV shows & movies, but after 1995 he became a much sort after commodity. Both films were created by promising young directors (Bryan Singer on The Usual Suspects, David Fincher on Se7en) early on in their careers, and both featured twisting plots that ultimately lead to dramatic final act twist of events. Epic final act twists... the kind that are legendary in the film industry. Also the kind that pretty much can't exist anymore due to the Internet and the instant fact sharing culture that we live in. So even though the films shared a star and young visionary directors, could they possibly be related in some way? Videoographer Tony Stark put together a rather interesting theory video over on his Vimeo page and for a fan of either (or both) films is a worthy watch. Is it a bit of a stretch and maybe slightly far fetched? Sure... but it is fun nonetheless. Enjoy the video after the jump....

James Cameron continued the characters bad-assness in Aliens, and then David Fincher shaved her head and put her in an even more precarious situation in his Aliens 3. Artist Ross Burt has decided to highlight the evolution of Ridley in three pieces that he designed for each of the movies, and in honor of the tough as nails chick that she was I decided to post them for you here. Test Footage For 'The Goon' Leave Me Wanting More...

This is a very short (sad face) early test clip of what the possible David Fincher adaption of Eric Powell's awesome comic book 'The Goon' might end up looking like. Now Thats How You Make A Movie Trailer!!!!

I have been getting quite angry at movie trailers lately... it seems like not only do they show most of the good parts in the trailer, they give away most of the plot as well. Why? This is so wack. Anywho, here is the trailer from 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo' from the genius that is David Fincher. Now this is how you make a trailer. I read the book, and also saw the Swedish version of the movie, and I still didn't get alot of what I saw even though it intrigued me very much. Isn't that the point? The music is great, and the block lettering at the end sealed the deal for me. See for yourself:




I am really excited for this one. Rooney Mara (a former OHC her on CCD, thank you very much!) looks great as Lizbeth Salander, and Daniel Craig is always great. The "Feel Bad Movie of Christmas"... hahaha, what a great tagline! The movie comes out Christmas of 2011. I for one am psyched... how about you?
