Frank Browning & Freddy In Space Bring Us Some Tasty Horror Themed Ice Cream Treats in Series 4 Of 'Ben & Jerry's Horror Ice Cream Flavors'

I have frequently talked up my buddy Johnny's excellent horror website, Freddy In Space. The thing that Johnny does that makes his site so fantastic is that he knows he is the small guy on the block... in other words, there are many horror based web sites that are corporate run and have much more access to things than he does. But what he lacks in funding and access he makes up for in originality... and boy does Johnny have originality by the ton. Johnny has come up with tons of original posts, and they are unique to his blog. That what makes the Freddy In Space experience so fantastic. This summer Johnny teamed up with artist Frank Browning to come up with some awesomely horrific tasty treats... well at least mock ups of them anyway. There have been three series so far. 100 Days Of Monsters by Patrick Carson Sparrow

I love when I come across great artists and there fantastic work, but I even love it more when they come recommended from a good friend and have an ambitious project in the works. Artist Patrick Carson Sparrow is one of those cases... my main man Johnny from Freddy In Space has been singing his praises for years, as most of his art is horror themed. But his recent '100 monsters in 100 days' project has really captured my attention. Sparrow just decided to do 100 sketches of his favorite monsters, creatures, and killers and post 1 a day on his Facebook page. He has been remarkably efficient (most people who do these types of challenges fall off and fall behind) and he picks some great choices... not the run of the mill choices and the proof that Sparrow is the real deal when it comes to a horror fan. Vintage VHS Box Art by Frank Browning For Freddy In Space

I have long extolled Freddy In Space as one of my favorite blogs on the 'Net, and by far one of the best horror blogs around. One reason is because my main man Johnny that runs the site is a gentleman and a scholar... lol. But the other reason is that Johnny embraces his role a s a little guy in a big industry, and he realizes that he can't compete with huge blogs for things like exclusive content and set visits. So he sets out to create some original content that is unique to his blog, and he does this by collaborating with very talented people. One of the people he is working with on some of these projects is Frank Browning. Browning is a very talented artists that creates magnificent retro style art with a very unique touch. So he was the perfect choice by Johnny to create VHS styled boxes for modern horror classics that obviously never have been released in VHS format. This is a really cool concept because one of the coolest aspects of renting videos was definitely browsing the boxes at your local mom & pop video store. I have chosen to watch countless movies through the years based on their VHS box art, so seeing some of my favorite modern horror movies getting the 80s retro box art treatment is fantastic. The thing I love about these has to be the various shots that are highlighted... it is not like modern DVD art that rely on one or two pictures, but rather 6-8 smaller photos that may not be of the most important elements from the movie. Take the Trick 'r Treat box for example, which chooses to highlight vampire Anna Paquin and some of the other lesser known characters on the cover and leaves main attraction Sam for a back of the box shot. I am eagerly awaiting round 2 of these, and Johnny has solicited requests in the comment section for movies we would want to see receive this treatment from Browning. James Gunn Has A New Short Called 'Humanzee' & It's Just As Twisted As You Would Expect

Check out this new short film from 'Slither' & 'Super' director James Gunn that features himself raising a half human, half chimpanzee hybrid monster as a child of his own. It also features porn star Jenna Haze... but unfortunately she is not getting nude (sorry fellas!!!). I am a big fan of Gunn's work (he also wrote 'Dawn of the Dead' for Zack Snyder), so I think you will enjoy this one. It's Halloween Time... That Means A New Banner From Tommy L!!!

It's Halloween time and CCD is getting in the holiday spirit. We are gearing up for "CCD Horror Week" October 25th through October 31st, and CCD's resident artist extraordinaire Tommy Lombardozzi hits us with a wonderful banner to get us all in the spook-tastic mood!!! Look forward to a ton of horror/Halloween related posts coming in the future, as well as a (I'm hoping) collaboration with Johnny from Freddy In Space (my favorite horror blog!!!)... I took one look at this fan video of some ghetto dude serenading his crackhead/ half naked girlfriend and playing out the classic "Johnny and Baby" moves from Dirty Dancing. This had to be the cause of Swayze's death... had to. Check it out for yourself:
