New York Comic Con 2013 - Day 3 Cosplay

Day 3... often times the day that I consider the best at NY Comic Con. 2013 was no exception... the people really brought it when it came to costumes and cosplay. We saw some pop stars (the first pic... a great one),  some 80's TV stars, villains galore (I never remember seeing this many bad guys) and especially the sexy ladies... wow, we even got a Santa from a galaxy Far, Far Away! Growing Up Heroes - A New Tumblr That Shows The Fun Side Of Dressing Up

I find a lot of cool sites in my travels of the Internet, but I am always a happy camper when one of my cohorts here at CCD stumbles upon something cool and passes it along. Jeff Bond sent me this fantastic Tumblr called 'Growing Up Heroes', a website that allows people to upload pictures of themselves dressed up as Superheroes. The pictures are from 1960-now and some of them bring back a ton of memories!!! I have been through countless pages so far, and I plan on submitting all of my son Mikey's Halloween photos shortly because he has been some killer heroes (The Thing, Cap, Iron Man, Green Lantern, Hellboy, Obi Wan... and he did all of those long before their respective movies came out... all by his choice!). Holy Suit Of Armor Batman!!!!

This may be one of the coolest handmade cosplay costumes I have ever seen... ever! Deviant art user Azmal created an amazing medieval Batman suit of armor constructed out of leather, with a bat symbol emblazoned long sword to go with it. Holy fucking shit this is rad. Check out some really cool shots of Azmal putting the suit to good use after the jump...

Stormtroopers Prefer Leather

Here is a site for people who prefer their Harley over a Speedbike.
Check out this site, UD Replicas, they make replicas of garments used on the silver screen and make it into reality with the use of leather. I think it's time for me to trade in my leather jacket for a cool looking Dark Knight replica.

Now These Are Good Parents!!!

If I saw this crew on the train, I would have to smile and shake these parents hands. This is what a parent should do to make their children have fun. I love this more then I can express. Via Super Punch.

Baby Boba Fett All Growed Up!!!

Jeff sent this one over to me with a real cool thought:

How great would it be if someone rangled Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, et. al and did just a photgraphy shoot as how they would look revisiting the characters they might have played in a hypothetical prequel film. (i.e. General Solo in his 40's-50's, Peter Mayhew as a few hundred year old, grey haired wookie!...etc.)

I couldn't agree more... so how bout it A-Squared? Get cracking on that ASAP, will ya!!!

So... This Is The New Wonder Woman, Huh?

Oh man. What a disappointment. When I heard veteran TV wunderkind David E. Kelly was tackling the story of Diana Prince on the small screen, I have to admit I was kind of happy. I would have liked to see Joss Whedon get his shot at 'Wonder Woman' (he had been trying for awhile, but now he has God's work to do with 'The Avengers' movie), but surely Kelly would be able to do the greatest woman superhero of all time? Especially after he promised a mature and non-campy version of the goddess. They cast Adrianne Palicki, which was a great start (she is f'n hot, no?). But then we get the first shot of her in the costume... and well to be honest, I HAVE LOST ALL HOPE FOR THIS SHOW.

First of all, this is how 'Wonder Woman' looked in the golden age of comics:

Next, here is Lynda Carter's version of Wonder Woman on the 70's TV show:

Notice how Carter's WW is pretty spot on... despite the fact that show was a shell of the comic book story that it was adapting, at least Carter's WW LOOKED THE PART!!!

Now, we get this version. I'll let the picture speak for me:

Holy shit. C'mon David... you gotta be kidding me, right? First of all, WTF is up with the blue pants and boots? Never have I ever imagined this would happen. You can't even get the colors right? Get the fuck outta here. They are doing this same shit with the new 'Spider-man' costume as well. Just cause there is a bit of blue in the original costume doesn't mean you need to O.D. on it. Next, keep the bracelets smaller. No need for them to go all the way up the arm. But that's just minor compared to the pants and boots. And what the fuck is up with that seam running up the crotch of the horrendous pants? You couldn't get those stretchies in one piece? C'mon man... I can't. How are we supposed to get a good look at Ms. Palicki's camel toe with that distracting line running right up the pipe? That's got to be the most disappointing thing of all.

So in closing, I didn't have high hopes for the show, but honestly I thought it might have a shot. Now... not so much. What do you guys think? Am I going on about nothing or is this costume the abomination I see it as? Let us know in the comment section below.
