Farewell Spartacus...

Andy Whitfield made a huge impression on me from the very first episode of Spartacus that I ever watched on Starz. He had that "it" factor that certain actors/actresses just possess, and he lit up the screen with swagger as the Thracian slave turned warrior hero. Over the weekend he succumbed to his two year long battle with cancer and died at age 39. R.I.P. Andy... thanks for all the blood-soaked memories!!!

Guess Whose Back???

In this past weeks Entertainment Weekly, Starz unveiled their new Spartacus. Actor Liam McIntyre is taking over for the cancer afflicted (and utterly awesome... get well soon brother!) Andy Whitfield, and he is displaying his Thracian might in all its glory. Spartacus: Vengeance is all set to air in January 2012 and I for one can' t wait to see where this show can possibly go next. It may be the most violent and sexual show to ever air on TV, and it all looks so magical. I loved both season 1 (Blood In The Sand) and the prequel miniseries (Gods of the Arena), and if you haven't seen them you should get over to Netflix Instant Streaming and make it happen ASAP. Check after the jump for some more pics of McIntyre in his Spartacus attire and a short (I mean really short) teaser trailer and tell us your thoughts in the comment section below. Netflix Instant Streaming Picks Of The Day: 3//2011

Hello all.. it has been a bit since I made any Netflix Instant recommendations. Not from lack of watching... oh, I have been streaming more then ever! I have watched 100's of TV shows and movies through my Wii. I get my 7.99's worth every month, believe that. But these are some of the things I did watch and I think you should give a try. Trust me... my taste is awesome.

Most of you guys have probably read young adult books like 'The Hardy Boys', 'Nancy Drew', or 'Encyclopedia Brown' in your life. These books were great because you got to live through the actions of these young geniuses as they solved child crimes. Cool, but nothing to crazy. These books inspired many kids to do the same... but what happens when these kids grow up? This is the jist of The 'Mystery Team'. Three best friends spend their childhood solving child-like crimes around their neighborhood. Flash forward 10 years, and they are still at it. These 18 year olds are running around busting kids for small infractions and living the pure life they hoped to achieve as child detectives. The problem is the rest of the world has changed... dramatically. These 3 guys will make you laugh till you cry with their naivete. Throw in my favorite nerd crush, Aubrey Plaza, as their new client (this is the hottest she's ever looked!!!) and this one is a winner. Donald Glover will have you rolling on the floor. This is an absolute must see for fans of quirky movies like Napoleon Dynamite & the show Community.

Spartacus - Blood & Sand (13 ep) & Gods Of The Arena (6 ep) - Andy Whitfield, Lucy Lawless, John Hannah, Manu Bennett, Peter Mensah, Jaime Murray, Dustin Clare

Wow... just wow. Starz killed this show. Gladiators. Tits. Sword fights. Tits. Drama. Action. Tits. Politics. Violence. Tits. Love. Honor. Treachery. Betrayal. Did I mention the TITS!!!! There is so much sex and violence in Spartacus that it becomes second nature. You stop even noticing it, and it just because unreal fun (except the tits, I never stopped noticing the tits) You will become obsessed with Batiatus and his house of Gladiators. I recommend watching 'Gods of the Arena' first since its a prequel... it will work much better. Just be careful because at the very end of the last show (episode 6) there is a spoiler flash forward to the end of 'Blood and Sand' episode 13. But otherwise, watching it in order will make you enjoy it so much more. You should watch this show on the general principle that Lucy Lawless is smoking hot at 43 and shows off her lovely goods. Trust me, seeing 'Xena' in action is worth the time alone.

Paul McCartney Is Dead: The Last Will & Testament of George Harrison  (Documentary)

My parents are huge 'Beatles' fans and I am a conspiracy theory nut, so this one was an instant watch as soon as I saw it on the "Just Added" list. I have heard rumors of a cover-up of Paul McCartney's death back in 1966 throughout the years. I always dismissed it as some silliness. I even asked my dad, and he often said it was some ridiculous nonsense. I started this "documentary" being very skeptical... but once I finished I found myself wondering if it could be true. This "documentary" is a narrative that supposedly belongs to former 'Beatle' George Harrison. Apparently the two tapes arrived at the company responsible for this doc, 'Highway 61 Entertainment', in a package from London with no return address. The package contained a mini-recorder & 2 tapes. When the tapes were played, the guys at 'Highway 61' were treated to a wild story told by someone who is supposedly George Harrison. The film animates the voice from the tapes and what the person is saying. It analyses clues, situations, and facts that will make you think twice of dismissing it as a fraud. I can honestly say I wanted to think of it as rubbish, but I can not stop thinking that it may be true. Only God & the Beatles no the truth... and Ringo ain't saying shit!!!!

Check these three out... I think you will like them. Tell us what you think in the comment section below if you have seen any of them. I would love to hear your opinion. Alright, I gotta go... more Instant Streaming to do!!!

Here Is A Good Reason To Get The Starz Package On Cable.... Magic City

Starz has some great original programming that most people have never heard of. Party Down was an amazing show, Spartacus: Blood In The Sand was filled with sex & violence, and they have a King Arthur-esque show coming up featuring a ton of hot British actors & actresses... and now we get this:

As Frank Sinatra rings in a new year in the grand ballroom of Miami Beach's most luxurious dream palace – the Miramar Hotel – its visionary leader, Ike Evans, must deal with the Mob, his complicated family and a city in the midst of dramatic change as Fidel Castro takes control of Cuba, just 200 miles offshore. By day the hotel at the center of "Magic City" is all diving clown acts and cha-cha lessons by the pool, but at night Miami Beach reveals a darker truth. Dopers, dealers, strippers, gangsters and those who arrest them drift together to hear the top nightclub acts perform. Just beneath the surface, racial tensions stir. Ike must deal with all of this, even while global intrigue is brewing right under his roof. (via Variety)
A 1960's era gangster show entitled "Magic City" based in Miami about the day to day operations of a hotel on the strip??? Holy. Fucking. Shit. This has some amazing potential. I can see it now... a ton of real hstorical characters like Frank Sinatra & Marilyn Monroe passing through while we see the main characters deal with this wacky era... Politics, crime, hotels, celebrities... this show will have it all. I'm in. And just for the record, Starz programming is available through Netflix Streaming... so get on Party Down & Spartacus now!!!! Thanks to Warming Glow for being the best TV blog on the planet... now go get us some more info!!!!

Kubrick Art... 'Nuff Said!!!

I was alerted to this artshow that is going on out in Cali sometime last week, but I wanted to really take a look at the art before I posted anything about it. Boy am I glad I got around to it. Artist Carlos Ramos really went above and beyond to rep the work of the man who I believe is the greatest film director of all time, Stanley Kubrick. The show is taking place at the Copro Gallery and I wish I could get out there before August 3rd... but all my East Coast peeps are going to have to settle for a sneak preview here. Click "Read More" to see the rest. Hope you guys enjoy. Let me know what you think of the pictures in the comment
section, will ya???

OHC of the Day: Tamsin Egerton

If you live on this side of the pond, most of you guys probably never heard of Tamsin Egerton. Thats understandable. She has not been featured in many movies or TV shows, but had a huge part in the resurection of the classic English bad girl boarding school series St. Trinian's and St. Trinian's 2 as one of the five main school girls with behavior problems (thats her up top all the way to the right). Catholic school girls that drink, have sex and commit crimes??? Yes please... a thank you! Wish they made TV shows and movies like this over here. Anyhow, the reason why I came across the young Ms. Egerton was because she has just been cast in the new Starz TV network show Camelot, as none other then wife/adulteress Guinevere, the woman married to King Arthur. She is sure to feature prominent in the series storylines, and the show seems like it will be cool.  Joseph (FlashForward) Fiennes and Eva (Casino Royale) Green lead the cast of this period drama, and if predecessors like Rome, The Tudors, and Spartacus: Blood in the Sand are any indication, cable networks are the right place for these sword and sandle epics to appear. Enjoy these pictures of thes beautiful chick, and make sure you check out those St. Trinian's films... god she is hot!!!
