'Sin City: A Dame To Kill For' Gets A Trailer.... Only Took 9 YEARS !!!

I remember being super excited to see Robert Rodriguez's version of Sin City back in 2005... I had read the books, and since this was the early days of Internet there was not a lot to go on in terms of what to expect. After all, they were a bunch of Sin City books and you couldn't really tell which ones they would be adapting. While I was really happy with the stories they did use for part 1 of the film, I did really want to see 'A Dame To Kill For' hit the screen. The movie was a huge success, and considering the rising stock of comic movies at the time I thought for sure we would see a sequel shortly. I couldn't wait to see the cast reunite in Basin City... and a sequel was announced early on. But as time dragged on, all we were given were rumors... no actual filming, no progress on the project. It seemed like a fantasy project, one that was often talked about by everyone rumored to be involved but never actually realizing its potential. And then the stories started pouring out last year about filming starting, and that 'A Dame To Kill For' would be the meat of the story being adapted for the film. I was over the moon... I couldn't wait. And then yesterday during the NBA playoffs I caught the first trailer for the film. Yup, exactly what I needed in my life. It looks the same (which is a good thing, even though it takes place 9 years later) and feels the same, and that makes me very happy. Seeing old faces like Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Powers Boothe, and others made me very content... and seeing new faces like Ava Green, Joesph Gordon Levitt & Josh Brolin made the film something I yearned for even more. I can't even begin to express how excited I am. I will be re-reading my over sized library editions of my Sin City books in preparation, and I can't wait to see what Rodriguez and co-director Frank Miller have for us this time around. if it is a success, lets hope it doesn't take another decade to get out number 3. Get Ready For A Robert Rodriguez Double Dip This Fall...

Robert Rodriguez is one of my favorite film makers working in Hollywood right now. Why you ask? Well, for one his an original thinker who finds very practical ways to make fantastic movies. secondly, he has been making some of the best genre movies of the last 15 years (Desperado, Machete, Grindhouse, Spy Kids, Sin City) all very unique to their own genre, but all very Rodriguez in their delivery. And finally because my man R Rod is returning to two of his original films to give us sequels, and he is doing so in less then 3 weeks apart this Fall...

Is 'Blacktino' The Next 'Superbad'???

I got hit up with a ton of emails asking me if I had seen this trailer, and then I saw that my boy Cal posted about it at The Cave of Cool. As soon as I got in, I had to give it a gander. Here it is...

Wow... I am in. I love the teenage era comedies that are in the vein of 'Juno', 'Napoleon Dynamite' & 'Superbad', and this looks like one of those types of films. A half black, half Spanish theater geek that is going through the awkward years of High School? Yes please!!! Count me in.

The young man that stars in the film as 'Stefan Daily', Austin Marshall, is a newcomer that bears a striking resemblance to first time director Aaron Burns. Burns was a visual effects artist on the 'Grindhouse' double feature, so he comes from good film making stock (Tarantino & Rodriguez are OK... lol). That also explains why 'Blacktino' is the talk of the upcoming SXSW Film Festival, given Robert Rodriguez's connection to the Austin festival. I am really looking forward to this one. I might even have to check the torrent sites after the March 11th premiere at SXSW to get this one early (what... you want me to lie?). 

Here is the official synopsis, according to the movies website:

'Blacktino' is a dark teen comedy about an overweight half-black, half-latino nerd named Stefan Daily. He was raised by his black grandmother in a medium sized suburb of Austin, TX. Struggling to find his place in a mostly white high school, Stefan finds sanctuary among the eclectic mix of social outcasts in the school's Theatre Department. In the tradition of the great teen comedies of the last thirty years 'Blacktino' will ensure that the torch of teen angst continues to burn bright.

First Grindhouse, Then Machete, And Now...

... we get Hobo With A Shotgun!!! This was an idea that materialized from a contest to create a faux trailer when Grind House came out. Tarantino, Rodriguez, and the studio thought it would be cool to have people submit these crazy trailers, and out of those submissions we get that first look at the deadly homeless man taking out bad guys one shell at a time. Now, we get a red band trailer for the green lit movie and it features Rutger "F'n" Hauer... nice!!! I can not wait for this one. OHC 's Of The Day: Electra & Elise Avellan

Twins? Twins? Are you friggin kiddin... TWINS?!?! Alright, alright, settle down fellas. Its not that type of party. We here at CCD have a bit of self respect, you know what I mean (no we don't). Anyway, todays Obscure Hot Chicks of the day are Electra and Elise Avellan, or as you Tarantino/Rodriguez/Grindhouse fans know them: The Crazy Babysitter Twins!!! They were featured in both films of the dual billed Grindhouse, Planet Terror and Death Proof, and played the same role in each. They were portrayed as a bunch of crazy ass babysitters (hence their nicknames... duh?!?)  and light the screen up with tough talk and gunplay. They are the real life nieces of Robert Rodriguez, and they have just turned 24 years old. The stock on these two baby faced actress is definetly on the rise. They have a great looking horror movie, The Black Waters of Echo Pond, coming soon to movie theaters in the US (it has been released internationally) and that film features a creepy ass trailer and 50's style horror comics posters.

They also have Lifeblood and Not Another Not Movie, which as you can tell is a movie that makes fun of movies that make fun of movies... say that 3 times fast!!! But where you are sure to see them is in the upcoming Mex-ploitation masterpiece Machete, which comes out this Friday, September 3rd. From the looks of it they will be reprising their "crazy Babysitter" roles, and were featured in Maxim back in 2008 (we got those pics for you son... slow down!) These girls look like a lot of fun, and they look like they are HAVING fun, which is a great thing for young actresses making money to make believe (Got that Kristen Stewart?) Make sure you see Machete this weekend, and remember these words to live by: One pretty girl is good, but two identical ones are EVEN BETTER!!!

Can Machete Possibly Be Any Awesomer??? Um... Nope!

The official trailer for Robert Rodriguez's Machete has been released, and I can honestly say that I am anticipating this movie more then before... and since I have been waiting to see how this would turn out since that faux trailer from Death Proof/ Planet Terror, that says alot. The trailer looks phenomenal, and I can not believe the cast. Trejo is gonna be great, and Jeff Fahey looks cool as the bad guy. But Bobby De Niro? Steven Seagal? Don Johnson and Cheech Marin, Nash Bridges style? Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jessica Alba looking hot as shit? How can the answer be yes to all of the above? I know... because its going to be FUCKING AWESOME!!! Check out the trailer, plus a few newly released Grindhouse style pics. Meet Mr. Black

So, a few months back we got this teaser poster from the Robert Rodriguez produced, Nimrod Antal directed reboot Predators... and we were all intrigued. Whats with the jawbone and helmet? Gosh this dude looks big. I was on the hook. The cast is impressive ( Adrien Brody, Michelle Rodriguez, Lawrence Fishburne) and I can not wait for July 9th. Then I came across these new photos, and I... well, lets just say that my nerd boner is at full flagpole attention. With no further ado, I would like to introduce you to Mr. Black, the Predator featured in the poster above and the guy who will probably be trying to gut the humans in the film as efficiently as possible.
