Blood Car: Bringing Grindhouse Movies Into The 21st Century!!!

Blood Car. Wow. What a genius idea! I sure am glad that we live in an era when Grindhouse-style films are back en vogue to make. Listen, here is the truth... films like this are fun, they have lots of tits & blood/gore, and really do not rely on a feasible story to be enjoyable. Plus it has a self explanatory title that seems to be close to what the story seems to actually be about. That's what made them great in the past, and that is what is making them popular again now. 'Blood Car' is continuing down the path that was blazed by the Taratino/Rodriguez Grindhouse double feature, 'Machete', 'Rubber' and Hobo With A Shotgun'... and it is doing it in a way that seems quite fun to be a part of. Sean Hartter Posterized The CCD Family.... HOLY SHIT!!!!

Ask and you shall receive. It's that simple... or at least it is when you have super talented artists for friends!!! When my boy Sean Hartter made a custom movie poster for the gang over at Super Punch, I expressed how much i would really like to have him do on for us here at CCD. But before I could even send my request to Mr. Hartter, he had sent me an email saying that our very own Hartter original was in the works. Not only is my man SH talented, but he also works quick. Less than 24 hours later, CCD has it's very own faux grindhouse style VHS box art movie poster!!!! Click after the jump to see it for yourself...

'Death Sled II: Steel Belted Romeos' May Be The Craziest Short Film I Have Ever Seen...

Thanks to an anonymous commentator (sign in as a member and tell us who ya are!!!) in a story I ran about The Human Centipede II trailer, I was directed to a link for this awesome short film by director Danny Plotnick entitled Death Sled II: Steel Belted Romeos. With my interests fully piqued, I clicked the Youtube play button and was mystified by the gritty grindhouse-ness of this wonderful 10 minute film. Is 'Blacktino' The Next 'Superbad'???

I got hit up with a ton of emails asking me if I had seen this trailer, and then I saw that my boy Cal posted about it at The Cave of Cool. As soon as I got in, I had to give it a gander. Here it is...

Wow... I am in. I love the teenage era comedies that are in the vein of 'Juno', 'Napoleon Dynamite' & 'Superbad', and this looks like one of those types of films. A half black, half Spanish theater geek that is going through the awkward years of High School? Yes please!!! Count me in.

The young man that stars in the film as 'Stefan Daily', Austin Marshall, is a newcomer that bears a striking resemblance to first time director Aaron Burns. Burns was a visual effects artist on the 'Grindhouse' double feature, so he comes from good film making stock (Tarantino & Rodriguez are OK... lol). That also explains why 'Blacktino' is the talk of the upcoming SXSW Film Festival, given Robert Rodriguez's connection to the Austin festival. I am really looking forward to this one. I might even have to check the torrent sites after the March 11th premiere at SXSW to get this one early (what... you want me to lie?). 

Here is the official synopsis, according to the movies website:

'Blacktino' is a dark teen comedy about an overweight half-black, half-latino nerd named Stefan Daily. He was raised by his black grandmother in a medium sized suburb of Austin, TX. Struggling to find his place in a mostly white high school, Stefan finds sanctuary among the eclectic mix of social outcasts in the school's Theatre Department. In the tradition of the great teen comedies of the last thirty years 'Blacktino' will ensure that the torch of teen angst continues to burn bright.

Robert Rodriguez, Nike & Kobe Bryant Team Up For "The Black Mamba" Mini Movie

I saw the teaser trailer and posters for Robert Rodriguez's mini movie for Nike & Kobe Bryant called 'The Black Mamba' a few weeks ago, but held up on posting about it untill the complete film came out during All Star Weekend. After Bryant's MVP performance in Sunday nights All Star Game, I felt it was fitting to feature this cool poster and the complete short film here for you guys. I hope you enjoy Rodriguez's offbeat, zany grindhouse long form sneaker commercial/movie featuring Danny Trejo, Bruce Willis, and the rest of the Rodriguez regulars. Go get 'em Kobe... you really are the shit!!!

First Grindhouse, Then Machete, And Now...

... we get Hobo With A Shotgun!!! This was an idea that materialized from a contest to create a faux trailer when Grind House came out. Tarantino, Rodriguez, and the studio thought it would be cool to have people submit these crazy trailers, and out of those submissions we get that first look at the deadly homeless man taking out bad guys one shell at a time. Now, we get a red band trailer for the green lit movie and it features Rutger "F'n" Hauer... nice!!! I can not wait for this one. OHC 's Of The Day: Electra & Elise Avellan

Twins? Twins? Are you friggin kiddin... TWINS?!?! Alright, alright, settle down fellas. Its not that type of party. We here at CCD have a bit of self respect, you know what I mean (no we don't). Anyway, todays Obscure Hot Chicks of the day are Electra and Elise Avellan, or as you Tarantino/Rodriguez/Grindhouse fans know them: The Crazy Babysitter Twins!!! They were featured in both films of the dual billed Grindhouse, Planet Terror and Death Proof, and played the same role in each. They were portrayed as a bunch of crazy ass babysitters (hence their nicknames... duh?!?)  and light the screen up with tough talk and gunplay. They are the real life nieces of Robert Rodriguez, and they have just turned 24 years old. The stock on these two baby faced actress is definetly on the rise. They have a great looking horror movie, The Black Waters of Echo Pond, coming soon to movie theaters in the US (it has been released internationally) and that film features a creepy ass trailer and 50's style horror comics posters.

They also have Lifeblood and Not Another Not Movie, which as you can tell is a movie that makes fun of movies that make fun of movies... say that 3 times fast!!! But where you are sure to see them is in the upcoming Mex-ploitation masterpiece Machete, which comes out this Friday, September 3rd. From the looks of it they will be reprising their "crazy Babysitter" roles, and were featured in Maxim back in 2008 (we got those pics for you son... slow down!) These girls look like a lot of fun, and they look like they are HAVING fun, which is a great thing for young actresses making money to make believe (Got that Kristen Stewart?) Make sure you see Machete this weekend, and remember these words to live by: One pretty girl is good, but two identical ones are EVEN BETTER!!!
