Taxi Driver: The 35th Anniversary Will Be Re-Released In Theaters

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of Martin Scorcese's titular "good guy that does bad things" movie that brought the rise of Robert De Niro to a head, AMC theaters has decided to show the film in a beautiful Digitally Restored version of it for a few days in late March. I think this is a great idea, one that should be embraced by both studios and theaters alike. Think about it... both sides are complaining that they are losing money hand over fist. What better way to lure people back to the theater then by offering classics on the big screen? They are a sure thing (they are already successful), people already love them (they have a built in audience), and will surely generate money from people who want to see a past film in an actual theater (in this case something I was not able to do, since 'Taxi Driver' was released in 1976 & I was born in 1979). They should consider it more often.

The showings will be on March 19th & March 22nd, and only at selected AMC theaters. Click here to see which ones in your area will be showing the film. Shockingly, they list over 20 theaters in the NYC area, but I was only able to find two that were truly in NY. The others are found in NJ, albeit not far from the NY border. OHC of the Day: TV Carpio

With a name like TV, its no wonder that Miss Carpio would strive to become famous. It also helps when your mom is a huge singing sensation in Hong Kong and your pops owns a huge textile company. With parents like those you are free to explore some options with your career... and that's just what young Teresa Victoria (TV.... get it?) did. She made some small television appearances on Law & Order, and had a small role in Spike Lee's She Hate Me. She also had a run on Broadway in the play Rent. Then her life changed for the best. She was cast in the all Beatles musical movie Across The Universe, and she played a character by the name of Prudence alongside stars Jim Sturgess & Evan Rachel Wood. She sang a wonderful rendition of I Want To Hold Your Hand (see the video below!!!). That role would open up one of the biggest opportunities of TV's career. The director of the Academy & Golden Globe nominated film, Julie Taymor, would ambitiously (and some would say insanely) develop Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark with collaborators Bono & The Edge of U2. The Broadway musical is the most expensive stage show EVER (over 65 mil!!!) and is experiencing quite a few ups and downs as it tries to gain its footing for a 2010 holiday opening. Carpio plays one of the many villains in the play, Miss Arrow. Whether or not the play is a success is going to be one of the seasons greatest questions, but either way TV's career is on the upswing. Besides her commitment to Turn Off The Dark, you can catch her alongside Robert DeNiro & Bradley Cooper in  Neil Burger's next film Limitless, in which she shares some steamy moments with the heartthrob from The Hangover. Who said that to much TV was bad for you??? With high profile performances like these, she won't be an Obscure Hot Chick for very long!!!

Can Machete Possibly Be Any Awesomer??? Um... Nope!

The official trailer for Robert Rodriguez's Machete has been released, and I can honestly say that I am anticipating this movie more then before... and since I have been waiting to see how this would turn out since that faux trailer from Death Proof/ Planet Terror, that says alot. The trailer looks phenomenal, and I can not believe the cast. Trejo is gonna be great, and Jeff Fahey looks cool as the bad guy. But Bobby De Niro? Steven Seagal? Don Johnson and Cheech Marin, Nash Bridges style? Lindsay Lohan, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jessica Alba looking hot as shit? How can the answer be yes to all of the above?
