Just More Proof On Exactly Why Zack Snyder Is One Of My Favorite People In Film And Why Joel Silver Sucks Ass...

Zack Snyder has been on my radar since I walked into the theater and plopped down my cash in the hopes of a mildly entertaining remake of George Romero's classic film Dawn of the Dead. Not only did I get that... I got way more! It was perfectly cast and extremely well shot, and basically started the whole 'zombies can move fast' sub genre. He followed that up with 300, which so blurred the lines of the 'Comics to Film' genre that at times during the movie I literally felt as if I was reading Frank Miller's classic comic panel for panel up on the big screen. After that, the kid could do no wrong in my eyes. Then it was announced that he would be heading up the big screen adaption of Watchmen. The Internet almost imploded in on its self, as an adaption of Watchmen had been kicked around for years and had names like Terry Gilliam as director and Joel Silver as a producer attached at various points. They were going to give this grail of a franchise to a nubie with two films under his belt? This seemed like a possible problem in the making. But to be honest, I was confident everything would work out A-OK. In my opinion I was more than correct...

As part of the ongoing celebration of the 75th anniversary of Superman, Warner Bros. Animation’s Bruce Timm and Man of Steel director Zack Snyder collaborated on a two-minute film that observes some of Superman’s more memorable adventures. The animation includes homages to original creators Jerry Siegel & Joe Shuster to contemporary artists like Jim Lee, with stops along the way that give props to Curt Swan, Dan Jurgens, Neal Adams, Andy Warhol, Fleisher Studios, Alex Ross, the Smallville television series, Christopher Reeve, George Reeves, Henry Cavil and Timm’s own work on Superman: The Animated Series.

2 Different Trailers For 'The Man of Steel', From Each One Of Superman's Pops!!!

One of the things that pissed me off the other day way that when I went to The Dark Knight Rises I was hosed on the new Superman trailer. I am not the hugest Supes fan but I am a fan of Zack Snyder, and so I will give him the benefit of the doubt with this one. It is sporting a strong cast, most notably in the area of Superman's two dads. Pa Kent is being played by Kevin Costner & Jor - El is being played by Russell Crowe. These are both guys that I absolutely adore and would pretty much watch act in anything, so if these are the two guys that shape young Henry Cavill's mind as Superman then I am definitely down from the start.   They have released two separate teaser trailers for the film, each showing the same footage but featuring different voice-overs from each of Superman's dads. pretty cool way to draw attention to the film a full year before it is released. Catch both of the trailers after the jump.

Amy Adams Is Lois Lane... And I Never Wanted To Be Superman More in My Entire Life!!!

I was a bit skeptical to run this story until it was 100% verified, but it seems that Amy Adams has been tapped to play Lois Lane in the 'Superman' reboot film by Zack Snyder. I think this is wonderful since I worship the ground that this hot piece of ginger ass walks on and love to see her in anything. Shit, Snyder could have made her Superman himself if he wanted to and I would be on board for this puppy. Yeah, I love her.

Adams joins a very intriguing cast that features Henry Cavill as Supes, Kevin Costner & Diane Lane as Ma & Pa Kent, and a yet to be determined villain. No word on whether Nuclear Man from Superman 4 will be back... but if he is lets hope he uses his nuclear power to melt Adam's top off and let us catch a look at those fabulous ta-ta's.

Yeah, I know. Adams, a short red head, looks a lot different then the traditional Lois Lane of the comics (tall, skinny and dark haired). But Lane was always a spitfire, and Adams showed she can play a loudmouth in her Oscar nominated role from The Fighter. I like the choice, but then again I am blinded by whether the carpet matches the pubes on Adams. What do you guys think? tell us in the comment section below.

These Sucker Punch Animated Shorts Make Me Even More Excited For Zack Snyder's New Movie

I am super excited for Zack Snyder's magnum opus Sucker Punch, which is opening on March 25th. Hot chicks in little to no clothing using guns and swords to kill dragons & nazi foot soldiers... yeah, I'm in. Snyder released these two animated shorts to provide a little background information for some of the villians the girls will be facing. Pretty awesome stuff:

Trenches

Dragon

What do you guys think... is Sucker punch gonna be any good? Are you guys excited to see it? Let us know in the comment section below. Thanks to Jeff Bond for the tip & Cinema Blend for the clip.

Even More Sucker Punch Posters... And This Time They Are Vinatage!!!

We have been highlighting tons of images and clips from Zack Snyder's upcoming opus 'Sucker Punch'. I have totally fallen in love with Emily Browning, I can not possibly get enough Jaime Chung, and the rest of these hot bitches can all get it. That's not even bringing up the zombie Nazi's, the fighter pilot sequences, the dragons, the ninja warriors, the guns... yeah, not even all of that stuff. I can NOT wait for this fucking flick... and as we close into the month of its release, we get treated to even cooler 40's era propaganda posters featuring the 5 main characters. Wow... Mr. Snyder, your vision sure seems original. I hope it all makes sense and leads to a great movie. That's what we need to lead into your turn as the new director of The Man of Steel. What do you guys think... is 'Sucker Punch' gonna be worth it? Tell us in the comment section below.

Thanks to /Film for the tip... you guys rock!

So.... Ursa, Huh???

Last week the Internet was abuzz with rumors of who the female characters would be in the upcoming Superman reboot by director Zack Snyder. Everybody assumes Lois Lane will be in the film, and we ran a story about Kristen Stewart saying that she didn't think she was right for the part despite being Zack Snyder's favorite... which we praised. Then all sorts of rumors began to spread about actresses like Alice Eve, Rosamund Pike, Diane Kruger, and a million others being considered for a roll... but could these beautiful ladies possibly be Lois? Probably not... how about villainess, Ursa, instead!!!

I am totally OK with this... but I am a bit confused. Snyder has said that Zod would not be the villain in his movie. But if Ursa is in the film, doesn't that pretty much guarantee that we will see some of the ole General from Krypton? Ursa was created for the original Richard Donner Superman films, and now she is even in DC Comics continuity. She is a bad ass... and I love her and Zod. I can not possibly take another Superman film with Lex Luthor as the villain. I just can't do it. A Superman film needs someone that can go toe to toe & blow for blow with Supes. And the Kryptonian three of Zod, Ursa, and Non are just that. I like this idea... A LOT.

Now here is the kicker. Maybe Snyder isn't lying. Maybe Zod will not be in the film. Maybe it will be Ursa trying to get Zod out of the Phantom Zone and setting up future sequels. That would be fine by me. I am also loving the fact that there are so many beautiful women up for this role... no matter who they pick, she is sure to be gorgeous. Sarah Douglas, the actress who played Ursa in the Superman films, was super sexy and seductive as the villainess. Lets hope whoever they cast will make us swoon and provide a challenge for the big boyscout. Who do you guys think should play Ursa in the new Superman film? Tell us in the comment section below!!!

I Have A Whole New Respect For Kristen Stewart

Wow... just wow. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth. I have made fun of the single-emotioned Kristen Stewart for a long time here on CCD. As someone who read the Twilight books (yeah, I read em... so what? They are good!!!) and seen the movies, I can not understand why this young actress that is making crazy paper and starring in a huge franchise is always looking so sad... it don't make any sense. While she may not have any other emotion other then emo, she does have impeccable common sense.

What am I babbling about, you ask? Well, it seems that Zack Snyder had wanted K Stew for Lois Lane in his new Superman reboot/relaunch to appear alongside opposite of the recently cast Henry Cavill. Really? Why? I don't see it... and neither does Kristen. Check out what the Daily News has to say:
According to the New York Daily News, Stewart met with Snyder and his producer/wife Deborah to discuss the role. Snyder didn’t formally offer the role to her, but had “definite interest.” Stewart, however “ultimately passed” indicating she was “caught off guard” by the success of Twilight and wanted to concentrate on “smaller, independent films.” The best part is that the News reports Snyder felt “slighted” by the actress and that she “wasted his time.” When contacting Stewart’s publicist, all they would say was that she “did not read for the role” which could easily mean she took a meeting. Snyder’s people didn’t comment.
So Snyder wanted her for the role, and she went to hear the pitch, but immediately told him no thank you. And now he is pissy. Guess what? I think that was really brave of her. First of, Superman would have been a payday for her. Like it or not, she is an established box office draw. She would have got some big bucks either up front or on the back end. But she did not like the part. Good for her. As for not wanting to get involved in another franchise, I ask you this: Can you blame her? This whole Twilight experience must have been quite trying and exhausting. When it's all said and done, this has been her whole life for like 5 years. I'm glad she is trying to make different types of movies.. I for one loved her 'Adventureland'. Lastly, I think K Stew is a hottie... I truly love her emo ass!!! But by not casting her, it opens the door for a ton of young hot actresses to play the role of Lois Lane. Three of CCD's former OHC's (Obscure Hot Chicks) of the day, Emily Browning, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Jennifer Lawrence are all being considered... as well as ever other actress in Hollywood. This could be a career maker for someone...

All in all, I respect K Stew for saying "Thanks but no thanks". Now only if she could get Nic Cage to start doing the same... if she could do that, I would love her even more!!!

OHC of the Day: Emily Browning

You gotta love it when a child actor that you admire can make the transition to an adult actor/actress... it's a rarity in the Hollywood of old. But in this day and age of endless opportunities in the acting world, it happens more and more. Emily Browning fits this profile to a T. You will probably recognize her from her role as Violet in the wonderful 'Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events', or maybe you remember her angst filled teenage role in The Uninvited (a very underrated movie... check this one). She was also author Stephanie Myers first choice to play Bella Swan in the Twilight series... and she would have probably gotten the role had it not be for a bout of exhaustion. Instead we got the always cheery Kristen Stewart (meh meh!!!) Either way, if you don't know Ms. Browning, you will soon. She is playing the lead role of Baby Doll in Zack Snyder's upcoming movie Sucker Punch... and I would be lying if I said that this one isn't one of my most anticipated films of the year. It looks great, and Browning seems to be holding her own with the bevy of beauties that are in this flick. She has grown into a beautiful young lady. You can also catch her in a live action remake of 'Sleeping Beauty' that was filmed in her home country of Australia. She may today's Obscure Hot Chick, but she is tomorrows Hollywood superstar. Remember where you saw her first....

This Is The Superman.... Really???

So, according to E! Online actor Henry Cavill (most notably of Tudors fame) has been cast as the new Man of Steel in Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise. He is also appearing in the visually stunning director Tarsem's upcoming film Immortals. I really trust Snyder (considering how good 300 & Watchmen were), and Christopher "I am amazing" Nolan is the producer... so I'm sure this is fine. But to be honest with you, I don't know how I feel about this one... I kinda liked True Blood's Joe Manganiello (Alcide the werewolf) for the part better. What do you guys think? Does Mr. Cavill have what it takes to be Clark Kent/Superman? Let us know in the comment section below.

Will This Nude Wolfman Be The Next Man Of Steel?

Easy girls.... simmer down now. We all know just how much you guys love Joe Manganiello, aka Alcide from True Blood fame. You love him for what a great actor he is and how wonderful he delivers his lines... oh, fuck it... lets be real. You guys love ole Alcide because he has a stomach like a washboard and the face of an angel. A ruggishly hairy angel... but an angel none the less. Well, the Internet rumor mill is churning and the Wolfman is being mentioned for the role of Kal-El himself in Zack Snyder's reboot of the Superman franchise. Jon Hamm of Mad Men has long been rumored to be what Snyder and producer Chris "The Dark Knight" Nolan are looking for in the new Superman... and actor who is 35-40 years old and can be convincing in their vision of the franchise. Manganiello is certainly in that wheelhouse, and he is in top physical condition (right KMG and the rest of you ladies out there???), so lets see how it goes. You know how the Internet works. On his Twitter, Manganiello had this to say:

Just to be clear... as of today, I am not "negotiating" to play Superman... but keep your fingers crossed and thanks for the wishful thinking!!!
This is clearly a denial, but one that is peppered with a specific denial. He may not be negotiating to play the role just yet... but that does not mean he is not discussing the actual role. He is just not up to the specific point where they are talking money. I personally love the idea of Joe the Wolf as Superman, and that's where I stand on the topic. How bout you guys? What do you think about True Blood's most honorable wolf taking over in the Big Red Cape? Let us know in the comment section below. Oh, and just to jog your memory (especially you ladies), here is one more picture of Joey Abs himself.... now, what say you ladies??? Yea or Nay?
