31 In 31: Day 1 - Mandy (2018)

This year to celebrate the Halloween month I have decided to watch 31 Horror Movies that I have never seen before in 31 Days... 31 in 31. I love Horror Films, but instead of watching the standard classics and usual fan favorites (trust me... I will watch many of them TOO!) I am going to venture out into some uncharted territory with my selections. Wish me luck....

Day 1- Mandy (2018)

I Am Posting The Trailer For 'Rage' Simply Because It Has Nic Cage In It... You Got A Problem With That?

Nic Cage may be one of my favorite actors, but I can't deny that he does tend to get himself into some shitty movies. But the fact that he continues to produce multiple films a year at least leaves the possibility that he may surprise you in one of these roles eventually. 'Rage' might just be that movie this year... even if it looks to be a straight American set remake of 'Taken'. Cage stars as an ex con trying to get past his terrible past. He is just trying to live his life after doing his time, and he wants no part of the streets. But it seems the streets still want a piece of him, or at least his family. So they kidnap his teen daughter played by Aubrey Peeples (the actress playing Jem in the upcoming Jem & The Holograms movie) and start on a path of drawing him out of retirement to pay for something he had done long ago. Add in Danny Glover as an overprotective friend cop and we got ourselves a stew going! I liked the way Cage worked with Amber Heard in Drive Angry (a good, fun solid movie despite a ridiculous premise), so maybe Cage could generate some screen chemistry with Peeples and make this movie work. I'm in... how about you? The film hits theaters July 11th. Check out the trailer after the jump...

The Expendables 2... Starring Nic Cage????

One of the most anticipated films of this summer has to be The Expendables 2, the sequel to teh hard hitting action flick that features every 80s action star that wasn't in the first flick. Between the two movies we are talking some heavy hitters: Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, Statham, Li, Lundren, Norris, JCVD, etc... but how could they leave out the man who makes everything better, Nic Cage??? Digital artist Matheus Candido does his best to remedy that with his version for the most bad ass action team to ever grace the big screen. And just as a hint, he includes everybodies bee hating favorite movie star!!!! Check it out after the jump....

Check Out The Promo Posters You Never Saw From 'Kick Ass'

'Kick Ass' is such a wonderful adventure of a movie... basically it is the kind of movie that you watch and say "I can't believe they got away with making this crazy fucking movie!!!". The level of violence, inappropriate situations for the teenage characters, and especially Chloe Moretz's 12 year old bad ass Hit Girl... they are all things that could kill a movie before it starts. Yet they got it done, and it is glorious. So now that they are talking about 'Kick Ass 2', some older promo materials is starting to see the light of day. Check out these four posters that feature Kick Ass, Hit Girl, Big Daddy, and Red Mist. These are pretty cool, showing both the costumed & human side of each characters. And if you are going to make a Kick Ass 2, you must get Moretz back and there must be some flashbacks featuring Big Daddy (Nic Cage FTW!!!). The posters are after the jump...

The Nic Cage Terror Alert Trilogy

Conan O'Brien has been flying a bit under the radar at his new home over at TBS. But just because he isn't in the spotlight so much doesn't mean he is tanking on his shows original content. The guys over at Team Coco have long been impressive with their original skits, and last month they ran a trilogy of of spots for the "Nic Cage Terror Alert System" that had me rolling on the floor. In the skits the Department of Defense has replaced the typical color coding of the Terror Alert system with warnings that correspond with Nic Cage's acting roles. The worse the threat, the crazy the reaction from Cage. These three clips will make your day. My fave is the 3rd, because it has a hidden PSA at the end as well. A Very Muppet Wicker Man

You would be hard pressed to find any horror fan, especially one with a love of 70's horror, that has a bad thing to say about The Wicker Man. It is one of Christopher Lee's finest performances and an insane movie that I feel is a must see for any true horror fan.On the other hand, plenty of people have said negative things about Nic Cage's remake... and almost all the time they are negative things. I for one am not one of those people. I love the new flick. More then anything. Not because it is better than the original... quite the contrary. It pales in comparison to the original. But it is unique in it's own corniness, and I would watch Nic Cage peel potatoes. Especially if he peeled said potatoes while kicking random women in the stomach. But these two movies are nothing compared to the epic mash-up put together by Paul O'Connell. He removed Lee, Cage and all the other humans and inserted the one thing that makes any film better... Muppets!!!

So Just How Crazy Is Nick Cage? Lets Check The Nick Cage Matrix

From the guys over at The Shiznit created this insanely awesome graph (click to enlarge) to plot all of Nick Cage's film roles. Using Brilliant, Serious, Mental & Rubbish as the axises, we get a interesting look into the film career of one of CCD's favorite actors. I just have one question:

  

I Have A Whole New Respect For Kristen Stewart

Wow... just wow. I never thought those words would come out of my mouth. I have made fun of the single-emotioned Kristen Stewart for a long time here on CCD. As someone who read the Twilight books (yeah, I read em... so what? They are good!!!) and seen the movies, I can not understand why this young actress that is making crazy paper and starring in a huge franchise is always looking so sad... it don't make any sense. While she may not have any other emotion other then emo, she does have impeccable common sense.

What am I babbling about, you ask? Well, it seems that Zack Snyder had wanted K Stew for Lois Lane in his new Superman reboot/relaunch to appear alongside opposite of the recently cast Henry Cavill. Really? Why? I don't see it... and neither does Kristen. Check out what the Daily News has to say:

 According to the New York Daily News, Stewart met with Snyder and his producer/wife Deborah to discuss the role. Snyder didn’t formally offer the role to her, but had “definite interest.” Stewart, however “ultimately passed” indicating she was “caught off guard” by the success of Twilight and wanted to concentrate on “smaller, independent films.” The best part is that the News reports Snyder felt “slighted” by the actress and that she “wasted his time.” When contacting Stewart’s publicist, all they would say was that she “did not read for the role” which could easily mean she took a meeting. Snyder’s people didn’t comment.

So Snyder wanted her for the role, and she went to hear the pitch, but immediately told him no thank you. And now he is pissy. Guess what? I think that was really brave of her. First of, Superman would have been a payday for her. Like it or not, she is an established box office draw. She would have got some big bucks either up front or on the back end. But she did not like the part. Good for her. As for not wanting to get involved in another franchise, I ask you this: Can you blame her? This whole Twilight experience must have been quite trying and exhausting. When it's all said and done, this has been her whole life for like 5 years. I'm glad she is trying to make different types of movies.. I for one loved her 'Adventureland'. Lastly, I think K Stew is a hottie... I truly love her emo ass!!! But by not casting her, it opens the door for a ton of young hot actresses to play the role of Lois Lane. Three of CCD's former OHC's (Obscure Hot Chicks) of the day, Emily Browning, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Jennifer Lawrence are all being considered... as well as ever other actress in Hollywood. This could be a career maker for someone...

All in all, I respect K Stew for saying "Thanks but no thanks". Now only if she could get Nic Cage to start doing the same... if she could do that, I would love her even more!!!

Check Out This Wicker Man/The New Yorker Cartoon Mash-up.... Wait, What???

This is one of the craziest, and by default coolest, things I have ever seen. The New Yorker Magazine is one of the foremost known magazines in all the world. They are especially famous for their dry humored cartoons that are a mix of politics and other "meh" worthy topics. All in all, pretty dry stuff. Well artist Wonder-Tonic decided to breathe some life into the New Yorker's cartoons... and what better way to do that then go to Nic Cage and The Wicker Man for inspiration!!! How's it get burned? How'd it get burned? HOW'D IT GET BURNED!!!! I love batshit crazy Nc Cage, so I love that movie by default... and so I must love these. Hope you enjoy.

No One Does Crazy Like Nic Cage Does Crazy

There is no reason to say anything about this clip. It speaks for itself... honestly, it does. Look at it this way: If you like Nic Cage, this is the clip for you. If you hate him and his carzy fucking face, well... you are a dick and should watch it to further foster your misguided feelings of hate for Mr Cage. Hope you enjoy:
