I have a longstanding tradition of being a monstrous football fan, so the Super Bowl is always really important to me regardless of who the teams playing are. But lets be honest. As a pop culture junkie and TV aficionado extraordinaire, I am also a huge fan of the TV commercials that accompany the game as well. I am going to share my faves with you from this year, in no particular order. All the commercials were great, but these are the ones that stood out to me... enjoy my picks after the jump!

I just came across an leaked version of the Mercedes Benz collaboration with sexy ass Kate Upton for the new CLA car that will run during the Super Bowl. It involves a sexy car, sexy ass Kate, some short shorts... all the makings of a classic ad. But Mercedes dropped the ball a bit, as much as they could in a commercial starring Kate Upton's boobs in a tank top. First mistake, those sandals. Put her in some 6 inch stilettos asap. Second mistake, Kate needs to be washing that car.Is that predictable? Sure... but Kate is a dirty girl and needs to clean up! Finally, what is with the jean shorts and tank top? This girl is a bikini model... the BIKINI MODEL! Please get her in a bikini!!! Well, with those errors withstanding it is still a hot commercial. Check it out about two weeks early after the jump...
What country is this, Afghanistan? Peta is known for pushing the boundaries wit there ads and they definitely did with this spot promoting a vegetarian lifestyle.How could this not make it pass the NFL & network TV censors? This is a very cool parody of the VW Darth Vader Super Bowl commercial mashed up with the recent acceleration troubles Toyota has been going through. This is well done. I love the force choke being applied to the mom... nice touch. Enjoy.
The commercials are some of the best parts of the Super Bowl. Very rarely does the big game live up to the hype... usually there is a blowout. This years game was very good, but the commercials were awesome as always. Here are the ones that I like the best:
Audi - Release The Hounds
This one is hysterical... showing how luxurious an Audi can be. Props for the crazy stunts, the dodo, and for really getting Kenny G for the commercial. That was great.
Eminem - Brisk Ice Tea (I got some demands)
I always loved the Brisk commercials that featured real people in claymation form... the Sinatra & Rocky ones were some of the best. But this one is quite funny, and to be straightforward it is probably the truest commercial I have ever seen. Can't you see Em asking for this stuff??? I could...
Career Builder - Parking Lot
Monkeys. In Suits. Driving Cars. That's all... I'm sold.
Doritos - House Sitting
That magical Doritos dust sure can accomplish a lot.... this one is quite funny from the perennial powerhouse that is Doritos.
Chevy - Cast of Glee Sings "See The USA"
I am a big fan of the show Glee, and love the way that Chevy chose to use the cast in this campaign. It started with a 30 second teaser spot outlining Sue Sylvester's latest plot to sabotage the Glee Club, and the second one being the full 2 minute Chevy video. Great job from a great show. One question: Where is Shue, Quinn, and Finn???
But my favorite commercial of the day goes to the NFL:
NFL - Best Fans Ever
Wow... the NFL salutes its fans all over the country by going back and superimposing league apparel onto characters from your favorite TV shows. Norm in a Pats jersey, The Fonz in a Packers jersey, Marsha Brady getting smacked in the nose wearing a San Diego Chargers shirt... this one was great. Plus, you gotta love them for including South Park at the end. Great job.
