The CCD Podcast: Episode #79 - Marvel's Jessica Jones Full Season Review AKA "The Meanest, Toughest Sexiest Show EVER MADE!!!"

When Marvel decided to partner up with Netflix to produce original content I immediately was intrigued by the characters they were choosing to go with. They planned on Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist for individual series... and then culminating in a Defenders movie. This is ambitious. I mean, almost everyone knows who the Hulk or Captain America is. But these guys? After Daredevil the list is relegated to really know obscure comic characters. But the inclusion of Jones was an eye brow raiser for me. I had loved the Brian Michael Bendis run in the early 2000s and the idea of a super powered private eye who doesn't want anyone to know she is "special" appeals to me. So I waited with patience... but all of that patience went out the window when Daredevil came out and I saw just how AMAZING it could be! So we made it our mission to watch ALL 13 EPISODES and have a special podcast reviewing the whole series! Jessica Jones Trailer And Primer On The Character

Jessica Jones, staring the beautifully dark Krysten Ritter is the strangest show to expect to come to cable television. FINALLY, someone in the Hollywood found out what do with her. Comedy was an OK place for her but I think this will truly be her breakout role. This project was always a risk especially after the hit that Netflix's Daredevil was. Jessica Jones is probably the LEAST known Marvel property out there but that is why I think her show will be fantastic. People will show up to learn about this new character while experiencing the first time appearance of fan favorite characters like Luke Cage.

On this edition of the CCD Podcast (#4... can you believe it!) we discuss nerdy news bits like who will be show-running & starring in Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil Show (even more Cox... YEAH!), aging Terminators and why they can't get that franchise right, and Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg's Sausage Party... oh, yeah, we also TALK SOME GODZILLA!!! We review the newest Godzilla installment, remember the golden Toho years & the not so golden 1998 installment, and even work in a Mac Tonight reference. Yup, this episode was off the chain. Marvel's Netflix/TV Universe Has A Bright Future, And They Are Looking To Get Off To A Good Start Quickly...

So even though this was a tough week for Marvel's cinematic wing (they lost Edgar Wright as a director of 'Ant Man'), things are certainly looking up for the Netflix/TV division and are looking quite promising. The first season of S.H.I.E.L.D. is in the books and although the show started slow it did a fantastic job of meshing the cinematic and TV universes mid-season with Cap 2 (which came out smack in the middle of the season. It was done flawlessly. Now there are rumors of the 'Peggy Carter, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.' spin-off, period show (set back in the 40s and 50s) and the Netflix series that are finally getting cast ...and wow, Marvel doesn't seem to be playing around! First up... 'Daredevil'! We got our Matt Murdock, and also a show runner.
