I have been tracking the progress of John Dies In The End for a long time. The story for this movie started way back in the early 2000s as a web serial that was posted online for free. Author David Wong posted this crazy slapstick paranormal story for free online and then later received a real book deal to publish the story with additional materials. The story caught the eye of legendary horror master Don (Phantasm, Bubba Ho-Tep) Coscarelli and he decided to adapt the movie to film... and he grabbed a hell of a cast to do it. Paul Giammati & Clancy Brown? Yup, I can get with that. Then the film got picked up for VOD & theater distribution by Magnet Releasing, and I was completely sold. These guys just do indy film right, and I just knew that if they grabbed a hold of this film it would have to be pretty cool. Then they released this anti piracy PSA to discourage people from downloading John Dies In the End, and I think they better listen. This is pretty funny stuff, and makes me want to see the film even more. Looks like I know what my night is looking like. John Dies In The End is available right now on Video on Demand and is going to have a short theatrical run in February. Enjoy the clip after the jump...

John Dies At The End Has The Coolest Promo Ploy... Ever!!!!

The ABC's of Death: 26 Ways To Die... Choose One!!!!
This is a very interesting anthology horror film project from the gang over at Magnet. 26 different directors. 26 short films. Shot in 15 countries around the globe. All of the clips having one thing in common: they deal with death in some way, shape or form. There are some great directors on this list (check out the list after the jump), from Nacho Vigalondo to Ti West. My interest is piqued. Magnet has been hitting homers left & right lately (Tucker & Dale vs Evil, V/H/S, The Innkeepers) so I will definitely give it a shot. It will be hitting a limited theatrical run and VOD towards the end of January. Enjoy the trailer after the jump....

V/H/S Dominates The Magnet Releasing Booth At 2012 NY Comic Con
One of the coolest booths on the floor of the 2012 NY Comic Con had to be Magnet Releasing. The independent distribution company boasts an impressive collection of back titles such as Hobo With A Shotgun, God Bless America, and Monsters (to name a few) and they are just getting stronger and stronger withe each release. The booth at comic con featured 6 alternate posters for their newest release, V/H/S, as well as a cool ass add for The ABC's of Death.Jeff has checked out V/H/S already (I am literally about to watch it as we speak) and loved the flick, and I have heard nothing but good things from my favorite horror bloggers like Johnny over at Freddy In Space. The Magnet gang was giving away T Shirts, posters, buttons, and also selling DVDs & Blu Rays of their catalog for 15 & 20 bucks... which is hella cheap for indy films! The guys working the booth were also super cool, so kudos to them for putting a killer staff in place. Check out the posters after the jump and some pics of the booth as well....
