Jimmy Fallon, The Roots & Mariah Carey Perform 'All I Want For Christmas' With Kindergarten Instruments... And Kindergartners!!!!
I may not watch Jimmy Fallon's late night show all that often, but I certainly think that the SNL alum has found a certain niche with his quirky musical performances. He has The Roots, the hardest working band in show business, at his disposal. So why not use them as creatively as possible? Fallon taps the gang to utilize kindergarten musical instruments (kazoos, mini xylophone, triangles, etc) and gets the queen of the Christmas song Mariah herself to perform a rendition of her classic 'All I Want For Christmas', and boy is it fantastic. And the four kindergarten kids singing back up... yeah, that is the icing on the cake! Gotta love the creativity. Keep em coming Jimmy!!!! Catch the video after the jump...

Great Moments In Christmas Song History Vol #3: Santa Claus Is coming To Town by Bruce Sprinsteen
The Boss. Brucey Bruce. The legend of the Boardwalk. The King of New Jersey!!! My man Bruce Springsteen is a legend among music legends. He is the kind of musician that EVERYBODY loves at least a couple of songs from. My personal favorite would have to be "Thunder Road". But any child of the late 70's & early 80's is sure to love Bruce's classic rendition of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town". Originally performed by Bruce and The E Street Band at a college gig way back in 1975, the song wasn't released commercially by Bruce until 1985 as a B side to his single "My Hometown" (which is one of my favorite Bruce songs...). Ever since I was a tiny tot I remember hearing this song blaring through the car radio speakers, with Bruce's gruff singing voice mouthing the famous words in a way that no one ever has (or ever will) before. Ya gotta love The Boss's rendition. It is what Christmas here in the North East is all about. click after the jump for the video...

Great moments In Christmas Song History Vol #2: Snoopy's Christmas by The Royal Guardsmen
I love Christmas songs... I really do. I love that the day after Thanksgiving 106.7 FM begins a month long, 24 hour a day Christmas music blitz. All Christmas songs, all the time. But even though I like the usual suspects (who doesn't like All I Want for Christmas by Mariah... C'mon), I tend to skew in a more obscure direction for my holiday favorites. Over the next few days I plan on sharing some of those choices with you. Today we will take a look at the exploits of Snoopy as he battles his old nemesis The Red Baron in the Christmas Classic Snoopy's Christmas (Christmas Bells) by The Royal Guardsmen. Cal's Favorite Christmas Song!!!
I like the Chipmunk Song for the 'HOOLA HOOP' part...as far traditional songs go I like Silver Bells because I can imagine the scene. For a weirder choice I like the Boney M Christmas Album and that Little Drummer Boy/Piece on Earth thing did by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. Now that is the most unlikely combination that there ever was at holiday time.As complex and well thought out as usual... thats why we love ya Cal!!! Well, here you go buddy. Hope you enjoy... and Merry Christmas to all my Canadian Brothers & Sisters!!!
