Nova Prime, Rhomann Dey and Yondu Get Character Posters For Guardians of the Galaxy!!!

Any good movie has great starring characters, but it is the strength of the supporting cast that will really cement the property as across-the-board amazing. We have been going wild hearing about the five main characters that will make up the 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (Star Lord, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Drax and Gamora), and we were also intrigued when Ronan the Accuser and The Collector were named as villains. But who else will be making appearances/cameos in this film to fill out the character components of this film and may provide Easter Eggs  for future Marvel Cinematic movie universe films? Well it seems that the Nova Corps will play a huge role in the movie, with characters Nova Prime (played by Glenn Close) and Rhomann Dey (played by John C Reilly) occupying key positions among the intergalactic police force. Will Richard Rider (the full time hero known as Nova in the comics) be one of those cops? Maybe. But theses two alone prove that the Corps will be intricately involved in story lines for future movies to come. Then we have Yondu. Yondu was an original member of the Guardians of the Galaxy back in 1969 when the comic premiered. But in this inclination he will not really occupy that role. It seems he will be the adoptive dad-type for Star Lord, and will start Peter Quill down the path of scoundrel and law breaker before he becomes a hero. After a heist they pull together , Quill vamooses with their goods and Yondu and his gang of outlaws called the Ravagers follow him and the rest of the Guardians across the universe trying to get it back. A dual role of father figure and, later, foil for Yondu, played by director James Gunn's favorite co-contributor Michael Rooker. Can't wait to see all these characters play out on the screen... two more weeks baby! Check out the three posters after the jump....

Cinemax's New Show 'The Knick' Might Be Something To Look Forward To This Summer...

Stephen Soderberg... check. Clive Owen... check. Period drama about the dawn of modern surgery... check. How the hell can you NOT be excited about this kind of program? It is poised to be fantastic, and the more I see about 'The Knick' the more I am excited for what may come. Period dramas always peak my interest... they just appeal to the inner History teacher in me. But this setting makes me even more intrigued, considering my love for medical dramas in the past. Cinemax has been real clever in its marketing campaign for the show, with those short burst 30 second teaser spots that feature fast cuts. But the set of character posters that were just released really got me in the mood for some turn of the century surgery drama! We see that the show will look at the medical field from all types of angles... the church, government, medical, and much more... this show looks like it is going to be DARK. I am in... the show starts on 8/8. Check out all 11 posters after the jump...

Jupiter Ascending - Just What Kind Of Batshit Crazy Space Epic Do The Wachowski's Have Coming Out?

There are not many more polarizing figures in the Hollywood landscape than the Wachowskis. The brothers (or former brothers, now that one is living as a woman...) have been making waves from their very first movie Bound. No one wanted to finance the Matrix films, and when they finally did find someone to greenlite those we got one of the greatest sci-fi movies of all time... and a couple of ill conceived sequels as well. But there is no denying that the Matrix franchise proved that original properties could be made into tentpole movies that might even spawn franchises... and that is a good thing no matter how you feel about Neo & the leather clad gangs further adventures. These dudes are extra ambitious when it comes to their projects. Need proof? Check out Speed Racer, V for Vendetta, and Cloud Atlas for proof. All of those films were met with mixed reception from fans, but all of them showed just how committed to their vision for their projects they can be. They do not bend, they do not compromise... nope, they make THEIR films THEIR ways whether the public & the studios likes it or not. Check out their latest project, Jupiter Ascending. Channing Tatum as a intergalactic bad-ass bounty hunter. Mila Kunis as his target and also the potential future leader of the universe. Time travel, gods ruling over the universe, alien bounty hunters... yup, this sounds exactly like a Wachowski film to me. Then there is the casting of Tatum as the lead. This also seems like a very Wachowski thing to do, very similar to Keanu Reeves casting in the Matrix. From the trailer I get the unique look and feel of the Wachowskis, and I am very intrigued by the concept. Cloud Atlas helped sell me on anything future these guys did, because that film looked to be a mess going in and was executed incredibly. I don't know if this puppy will live up to their past accomplishments or be any good, but I will certainly be giving it a shot. Oh, and Eddard Stark himself (Sean Bean) will be along for the ride as well. That is just another reason to get on board. The film release July 18th, 2014. Check out the trailer & posters after the jump....

So 47 Ronin Looks Pretty Bad Ass....

I have been hearing about the movie '47 Ronin' for quite a bit... but then after it was delayed it seemed to have fallen off the radar. Grumblings of the director fighting with studio big wigs over budget concerns and talks of pacing problems had thoughts on the movie skewing towards the shitty but, I recently came across some character posters and an extended trailer that made me start to think quite the opposite... on the contrary, I think Keanu may have another surprise hit on his hands (a la 'The Matrix'). C'mon, don't even front... nobody knew 'The Matrix' was gonna blow up and spawn 2 sequels when it first came out. But between the action, the beautiful settings, and what looks to be an interesting cast (wait till you see a certain tattooed character in the character posters/trailer) are all making me quite anxious to see this film. Well, we will be getting our chance ...this Christmas (wamp wamp), but after the jump you can see some character posters & a full 2.5 minute trailer. That should hold you over till the main course...

Lone Ranger Character One Sheets

I am fascinated with the upcoming The Lone Ranger. I wonder how this will will come out in the same way I wondered how John Carter would come out. I know both properties pretty well and I liked John Carter - then everyone starting piling on. Most everyone from a certain era knows the story of the Lone Ranger and his partner Tonto as they deliver justice in the old west. I liked Armie Hammer playing TWO parts in The Social Network. Tom Wilkinson is always solid and I have deep love for Ruth Wilson who I last saw in Luther's first season. Check out the posters and trailer after the jump...

Catching Fire Cast Portraits From the Capitol

As an avid fan of the Hunger Games books and someone who liked the first movie well enough, I am super excited to see the sequel Catching Fire when it gets the big screen treatment this November. I love Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss, and I think the second book has the most action and adventure of the three. i also think that the first book consists of a lot of set up, so the second one is non stop action in the arena. As the publicity for the second film starts to build, here are 5 shots of key cast members in their best clothing (or at least the best clothing a resident of Panem would wear) if they were visiting the Capitol. Great job highlighting all the interesting characters that are helping Katniss in their own way.  You can see the gallery of posters after the jump. Catching Fire hits theaters this November...
