'Holy Motors' - The Strangest Film To Come Out Of Cannes This Year

The Cannes film festival is still one of the most important film festivals in the world in terms of breaking films and creating buzz. The festival is single handily responsible for the careers of such directors as Quentin Tarantino & Kevin Smith, and has made the Weinstein Company one of the biggest players in the movie industry. Those of you non film snobs may not know much about the festival besides its name... so here is a quick crash course. The main award of the festival is called the Palm d'Or. The winner of the Palm d'Or gets all types of free press, praise, and usually ends up a successful film do to the push from the win. But when there is an upset (as there was this year) sometimes more than one film can benefit from just being nominated. This year a movie called 'Amour' took the top prize, but it is the very weird and bizarre 'Holy Motors' that is generating the most buzz. It comes from controversial film director Leos Carax & has a few recognizable names starring in it (Kylie Minogue, Eva Mendes), and judging by the trailer it is bat shit crazy. Maybe that is why it didn't get the win... it may have been too weird for its own good. Glenn Beck Really Is A Fucktard

This is an awesome clip compiled from actual audio of Glenn Beck talking about the new half black, half Latino Spider-Man. Beck compares the appearance of Miles Morales to Barack Obama and then uses this groundbreaking character portrayal to belittle Michelle Obama for calling for change in American history. This guy is such a dickbag, and he says hateful shit like this ALL THE TIME. It fits so well with the images of the crazy J. Jonah Jameson from the old Spidey cartoons. Oh, and to the other guy who is in this clip who says "I don't know... I'm not a comic geek." I say a big fuck you. You're damn right your not a comic geek. Jeff sent me this trailer the other day and I honestly can't be more excited about this upcoming film. First, said trailer:

This movie looks wonderful. When I say wonderful I mean racially insensitive, full of slapstick silliness, and generally offensive. That's usually a winner in my book... so I'm in! Need proof that the man behind the camera of such visually disturbing movies as Pan's Labrinth and the Hellboy films is truly batshit insane? Look no further then his 1991 Mexican Alka Seltzer commercial where the maniac director uses his 30 seconds of commercial for a stomach medicine to have himself (yup, thats him!) turn into a full on werewolf due to a stomach ailment. Yup, I just wrote that. He becomes a werewolf cause he got heartburn. Check it out:

Check Out This Wicker Man/The New Yorker Cartoon Mash-up.... Wait, What???

This is one of the craziest, and by default coolest, things I have ever seen. The New Yorker Magazine is one of the foremost known magazines in all the world. They are especially famous for their dry humored cartoons that are a mix of politics and other "meh" worthy topics. All in all, pretty dry stuff. Well artist Wonder-Tonic decided to breathe some life into the New Yorker's cartoons... and what better way to do that then go to Nic Cage and The Wicker Man for inspiration!!! How's it get burned? How'd it get burned? HOW'D IT GET BURNED!!!! I love batshit crazy Nc Cage, so I love that movie by default... and so I must love these. Hope you enjoy.
