20 Questions: Star Wars Edition

God knows I love me some Star Wars... so I have been seein the meme going around the net at some of my favorite sites (Byzantium Shores, Cal's Cave of Cool, etc) and had to get involved. So here are my answers to "20 questions: Star Wars Edition". Answer all or some of the questions with your answers in the comment section below. Would love to hear you opinions... especially you Joey Esq!!!!!

01. Who is your favorite character from the original trilogy?

Han Solo, bar none. That mofo is bad ass, takes no shit, knows when to get the F outta dodge, and at the end of the day is a true hero. Not to mention that if he didn't save Luke on Hoth there would have been no Empire Strikes Back & Return of the Jedi as we know it.

02.How would you rank the original trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?

Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
A New Hope
03. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the original trilogy?

The Taun Taun scene on Hoth were Luke is on patrol and gets attacked by the Wampa & the scene in the Jabba's dungeon where Luke fights the Rancor. Those are MY favorite parts. Also, I love the scene when Leia infiltrates Jabba's palace with that bounty hunter outfit on. I love that F'n helmet she wears!!!!

04. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the original trilogy?

Probably when Lando betrays Han and Vader walks in... its a "Holy Shit!!!" moment that I did not see coming and it was wonderful to see Mikey (my sons) face when it happened. It was wild!!!

05. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the original trilogy?

The Imperial Walker toy from Empire Strikes Back is one of the all time greatest toys EVER made. I do not have mine anymore, but wish I did. I also used to love the figure holder cases that they used to make. I had the one that was a huge Vader head, and when you unsnapped it and opened it there were 20 or so figures inside. Those were cool as shit.

06. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the original trilogy?

Greedo... by far. Why not explore that backstory a bit. I'm just kidding. Obi Wan dies a very unsatisfying death. He "chooses" to die in order to make way and inspire the rise of Luke, but at the time we did not know that. After seeing 3 movies worth of ass kicking Obi Wan (the prequels) after the fact, it is not so dissapponting anymore. But at the time, I was crushed and couldn't understand why it happened.
07. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the original trilogy?

I like Luke's flying car that he used on Tatooine, the X-34 Landspeeder. I had this toy, and it was SOOOO fucking cool. Love it. The Imperial Walker & Tie Fighter are also high on my admiration list.

08. Who is your favorite character from the prequel trilogy?

Mace Windu. Bad ass, and Sam Jackson played him. Wonderful. I especially love him in the Clone Wars cartoon shorts. He kicks General Grevious's ass in those, which was awesome. Which brings me to my favorite villian, General Grevious. Gangster. 4 arms = 4 Lightsabers. Plus dude uses his feet to wield them mid fight.... what??? I also like that he keeps the lightsabers of the Jedi that he kills. Further proof of how gangster he is.

09. How would you rank the prequel trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?

Revenge of the Sith
Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones (which I really like, but most don't)
10. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the prequel trilogy?

The underwater scene with the sea monsters in Phantom Menace, Anakin chasing the rouge bounty hunter in Attack of the Clones, and the Obi Wan/ Jango Fett fight in the rain. I also love the scene where Anakin blows Mace out the window while Mace is fighting Darth Sidious... its the beginning of his descent.

11. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the prequel trilogy?

The above Mace/Darth Sidious/Anakin fight. The epic turn of Anakin over to the Dark Side. It was a longtime coming, and for me it was EPICALLY SATISFYING. Very emotional, and extremely sad... but how can you not identify with Anakin wanting to save his loved ones.

12. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the prequel trilogy?

I am a big fan of all the Vader toys that have removable helmets. I never remember them having any Vadetr figures that you can take the helmet off of when we were kids, and I feel like its an easy enough thing to do. I am also a huge fan of the Star War: Galatic Heroes toys, which are the mini toy two packs that are modeled after "Marvel Superhero Squad"-type toys. Very cool.

13. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the prequel trilogy?

Darth Maul & Qui Gon. Both had tremedous upside and were gone to quick. I have a similar feeling to Qui Gon as I do about Obi Wan dying (see #6 above), but having seen episodes 4,5,6 I knew why he sacrificied himself. I really like the way Yoda brings up the fact that Qui Gon "sacrificed" himself and that he is "not truly dead". A very cool nugget that Lucas put in there.

14. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the prequel trilogy?

I like the pod racers and the ship that they travel on to pick up baby Ani on Tatooine. Both are very cool.

15. If you could get a personalized Star Wars themed license plate for your car, what would it say?

Free Han!!! or Sith Lord

16. Do you have a favorite Star Wars based video game?

I absolutely loved the Jedi Power Battles for Dreamcast. It was sick to play as all the Jedi's in a walkabout style game. I know its not the best, but I loved it. Also, the Lego Star Wars games are wonderful, just wonderful.
17. Have you read any of the Star Wars books (expanded universe), and if so, what are your favorites?

I haven't, but I want to.
18. Are you a fan of the “Clone Wars” cartoon series?

Very much so. I like the side stories that the cartoon tells, and I do not agree that it waters down the brand... I think it giives anybody else that wants more just that. If you are content with the movies, you can ignore them. I love em!

19. What (or who) do you hope to see in upcoming Star Wars TV series?

I want it to be well execute and character driven like The Walking Dead. It can be done. Thats all I ask. i would also like to see cameos by past cast members in MINOR roles. Hamill, Ford, Portman, Jackson... just some small roles that they can play as a treat to true Star Wars Fans. They should also use obscure actors as well. Iif they were in the 6 movies, try and include em.
20. If you were stranded on a desert island with one Star Wars character, who would you want it to be and why?

I'll go with Chewy, cause he is a bad ass and can protect me. He is also a wild beast so he can probably hunt his ass off. Plus, he is the most loyal character in the whole series. He will never let you down. Chewy rocks!!!

  1. 01. Who is your favorite character from the original trilogy?
Luke, of course. I never thought I was cool enough to be Han, so I always liked Luke. Especially Return of the Jedi Luke. The all black + green saber was badass. Out of all the original characters, he's the one who developed the most, I think...which I like.

02.How would you rank the original trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?
    Jedi-Empire-Hope
I'd like to note that while I fully recognize Empire as being the best movie, Jedi just holds a special place in my heart.

    03. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the original trilogy?
    Luke vs. Vader. Both times.

    04. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the original trilogy?
    Vader's redemption, hands down.

    05. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the original trilogy?
I have a stormtrooper on the shelf behind my bed, actually.

    06. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the original trilogy?
Boba Fett...all this talk of what a badass he is and then he like, trips. Weak.

    07. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the original trilogy?
The only ship that made the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs.

    08. Who is your favorite character from the prequel trilogy?
The relatively unknown jedi of Kit Fisto. He had green skin and all these cool Predator-like green tendrils coming from his head. AND he was able to fend off the Emperor for like...3 seconds. More than most jedis can boast about.

    09. How would you rank the prequel trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?
    Sith-Clones-Menace

    10. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the prequel trilogy?
Qui-Gon/Obi-Wan vs. Darth Maul and the Jedi assault on Genosha.

    11. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the prequel trilogy?
The birth of Luke and Leia.

    12. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the prequel trilogy?
I've got a bunch of the little figures downstairs.

    13. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the prequel trilogy?
Uhhh, not sure. Probably going back to Kit Fisto again...I really liked Kit Fisto.

    14. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the prequel trilogy?
    The Jedi Starfighter.

    15. If you could get a personalized Star Wars themed license plate for your car, what would it say?

    SLAVE1

    16. Do you have a favorite Star Wars based video game?
Star Wars Battlefront II. Many an hour have been lost to that game.

    17. Have you read any of the Star Wars books (expanded universe), and if so, what are your favorites?
I started to but I was lost, so I put it down and haven't picked one up since then.

    18. Are you a fan of the “Clone Wars” cartoon series?
I could never get into the new one, but I liked the original Genndy Tartakovsky shorts.

    19. What (or who) do you hope to see in upcoming Star Wars TV series?
What happens in between III and IV. Maybe chronicling the days of a young Han Solo.

    20. If you were stranded on a desert island with one Star Wars character, who would you want it to be and why?
    Leia...no explanation necessary.

  2. I saw this over at Cal's and hoped you jump on it. Good deal! Here's mine. I'm gonna read the both of yours afterwards. I didn't want them to taint my responses. I may change a few if you convince me otherwise after reading them.

    01. Who is your favorite character from the original trilogy?
Han Solo. He was the most interesting and just a cool all-around character. A former Imperial soldier with an indentured Wookie servant, best friend to the coolest black guy in the galaxy, who didn't want to be involved too heavily in the rebel alliance to overthrow the empire but, always found himself doing so. Probably just for a piece of ass...but, hey...whatever!

02.How would you rank the original trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?
Empire Strikes Back, A New Hope, Return of the Jedi

    03. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the original trilogy?
The battle of Hoth: The opening sequence of 'Empire Strikes Back'. Imperial AT-ATs, Rebel Snow speeders, 'Clash of the Titan' stop-animation Tauntauns....and Vader and his Hoth Storm Troopers storm the rebel base just a little to late!
Luke, Han dressed in Storm trooper gear & Leia are trapped in the trash compacter with a deadly dianoga about to meet their doom!

    04. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the original trilogy?
Han Solo being frozen to test the carbonite machine's safety before it can be used on Luke to turn him over to Vader. this is the last time we'd see Han alive in the sequel and it's a sad but great moment between Leia and Han 'I love you!'...'I know.'

    05. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the original trilogy?
My favorite toys were my droid maker play set from ROTJ. A reissue of a Jawa droid maker from ANH. Also my Dagobah play set. A lot of action went down there. I recall a day when the Dukes of Hazard got stranded there on accident while fleeing Boss hog in his Caddy. Honorable mention, My Wampa and Tauntauns. They managed to get stuck on Dagobah at times as well. Everyone got a chance to ride the Tauntaun...even though they were doomed to have Luke's legs each time. Those were simpler times.

    06. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the original trilogy?
Boba Fett dies hurdling into the Sarlacc pit. He could have been used for so many more cool things to come. Why?! WHY?! Gone too soon! (if I'm not mistaken, in the new edits he flies out but that seems almost LESS satisfying. I'm no fan of course-correcting.)

    07. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the original trilogy?
ROTJ Speederbikes! Hands down. I wish I had 10 of them!

    08. Who is your favorite character from the prequel trilogy?
Hard to choose. Darth Maul had the best look and Boba Fett-type of mystique. He was really the Boba Fett of the prequels. I also liked Plo Koon and wish he played a greater role. Honorable mention goes to Jar Jar Binks, seriously, he kept things fun and reminded me what it was like to enjoy Star Wars as a child.

    09. How would you rank the prequel trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?
Revenge of the Sith, Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones

    10. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the prequel trilogy?
-Order 66 gets the Jedi knights ambushed on various planets by their own clone commandos. Heartbreaking!
-I also agree with Mike on the Obi Wan/Jango Fett duel in the rain.
-But THE best action sequence has to be Obi Wan & Qui Gon Jin taking on Darth Maul. So intense. the sequence was peppered in amongst the other action which was happening on different fronts..than Obi Wan gets trapped behind the force fields out of reach of his mentor and Maul. So crazy!

  3. 11. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the prequel trilogy?
Toss up between Order 66 scenes/Darth Maul vs. Obi wan & Qui Gon but, most probably Anakin vs. Obi Wan. "You were my brother, Anakin, I loved you!" (tear)

    12. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the prequel trilogy?
Countless novels and coloring books. A ton of Star Wars Legos, Jango Fett and Darth Maul 3 3/4 in. and 12in. Some of the Clone Troopers...those by far are my favorites to collect...it was almost as overdo on how many different styles of gear were revealed for the precursor Storm Troopers in the Original Trilogy...but, I love each one!

    13. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the prequel trilogy?
Tough call. All deaths seemed pretty satisfying and merited in this trilogy. If I'd have to pick one, it'd either be Darth Maul (because I'd rather he was just the 'Darth Vader' of the trilogy that had more of a story arc as a villain rather than just being in one film and being replaced by Count Dooku and General Grievous...but his ACTUAL death was pretty goddamn satisfying...as he falls down the pit it is revealed he has been sliced in two? Fuck Yes!) Or General Grievous (he was kinda given too much of a role in my estimation. Somehow he was responsible for countless Jedi deaths although he was mostly just a droid. His quick death was well warranted but I believe he was given way too much power over the Jedi to begin with. He did pilot a badass ship that looked like the Batmobile from 'Batman The Animated Series' with wings.)

    14. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the prequel trilogy?
    General Grievous' ship!

    15. If you could get a personalized Star Wars themed license plate for your car, what would it say?
    'IMWITJARJAR'

    16. Do you have a favorite Star Wars based video game?
PS2 Jango Fett Bounty Hunter...hands down THE best and most challenging Star Wars game I ever played.

    17. Have you read any of the Star Wars books (expanded universe), and if so, what are your favorites?
Timothy Zahn's Trilogy were the best novels I've ever read. 'Heir to the Empire', 'Dark Force Rising', 'Last Command'. A MUST read, Mike! It's sick where the author takes the beloved characters we know from the original trilogy. These could ultimately make a great sequel trilogy. I recently got 'Star Wars: Deathtroopers' (the zombie Storm Trooper novel) and Star Wars: Allegiance (a newer Zahn novel) both of which I've been meaning to crack open and/or get back to reading but, have been procrastinating with.

    18. Are you a fan of the “Clone Wars” cartoon series?
The regular animated shorts that were released BEFORE Episode 3 were almost BETTER than the prequels in certain ways to me. I've only seen a handful of the fully CG Animated episodes. They didn't hook me in but I've heard they've gotten a lot better as they've gone along. I will get to them eventually.

    19. What (or who) do you hope to see in upcoming Star Wars TV series?
The main thing I'd like to see is Vader the Imperials and his bounty hunters tracking down the remaining Jedi throughout the Galaxy. Leading up to episode 4. I'm OK with any direction they decide to take that.

    20. If you were stranded on a desert island with one Star Wars character, who would you want it to be and why?
Slave girl Padme. Is that a character? It should be!

  4. 1. Who is your favorite character from the original trilogy?

Han Solo. His path of redemption form pirate to galactic leader. Lucas is the master at taking classic characters/stories and putting an intriguing spin on them.

    2. How would you rank the original trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?

Star Wars, hands down my favorite movie of all time. (It's NOT A New Hope, nor episode iv. It always was, and will forever be Star Wars.)
    Empire
Jedi ("The muppets were a real bummer", but no movie has used all three planes in an air/space battle as completely, or as well as Jedi.)

    3. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the original trilogy?

The trench run from Star Wars and the entire attack on the incomplete Death Star. Failure in either spells complete doom. For those that have read the books, this is the third Death Star. Han was present for its destruction.

    4. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the original trilogy?

Boba getting away with Han. To this day I still hope that he's rescued.

    5. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the original trilogy?

I still have all my action figures (The Star Wars action figures were time in history that 3 inches and action were used in the same sentence.), and my X-wing and taun taun. Plus I still have my Jedi glasses from Burger King.

    6. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the original trilogy?

Obi-wan. I almost cried. That's saying a lot for me. I cheered when Travis shot Ol' Yeller.

    7. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the original trilogy?

The Falcon. Hands down, bar none. I mean it out flew several Star Destroyers, their compliments, and the Executioner. It was also so freaking fast that it was able to fly closer to the Maw black hole cluster, that it was the first ship to do it in less than 12 parsecs.

    8. Who is your favorite character from the prequel trilogy?

    Qui-Gon Jinn

    9. How would you rank the prequel trilogy, in order from favorite to least favorite?

    Sith, Menace, Clones

    10. What are two of your favorite action scenes from the prequel trilogy?

The Gungan army emerging from the fog and Anakin leading the clones into the Jedi temple. Both were short but powerful.

As far as complete scenes? Qui-gon and Obi-wan vs. Darth Maul. Yoda vs. Tyranus.

My favorite image from all the Star Wars movies was of Darth Maul igniting both blades of his light saber.

  5. 11. What do you consider the most emotional scene from the prequel trilogy?

Anakin killing the tuskan raiders, and then relating the story to Padme. Without the loss of his mother (and his reaction to that loss), the Emperor would never have been able to turn him.

    12. Do you have any favorite toys or collectibles based off the prequel trilogy?

    Lego storm trooper.

    13. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the prequel trilogy?

Qui-gon Jinn. Darth Maul was a close second.

    14. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the prequel trilogy?

Qui-gon's transport from the beginning of Menace.

    15. If you could get a personalized Star Wars themed license plate for your car, what would it say?

    NOT EPISODES

    16. Do you have a favorite Star Wars based video game?

    Lego Star Wars

    17. Have you read any of the Star Wars books (expanded universe), and if so, what are your favorites?

I've read over 100. I can't remember if Boba Fett's escape from the Sarlacc is in "Tales of the Bounty Hunters" of "Tales of Jabba's palace." I think it was Jabba's palace. He walks out, barely alive, and it more than justifies his quick end in Jedi. Grand Admiral Thrawn. Best. Star. Wars. Character. Ever. Zahn's first trilogy is a must read for ANY fiction fan. Stay away from "The Crystal Star" and "Dark saber." Dark saber has some good moments, but overall, if you ate those books, the spatter marks on the toilet would be a better read.

    18. Are you a fan of the “Clone Wars” cartoon series?

The first series was better. Grievous' capture of Palpintine was epic.

19.What (or who) do you hope to see in upcoming Star Wars TV series?

Lucas passing the reigns to someone else. It's his baby, but he's gotten a god complex where Star Wars is concerned. He needs to be involved in the process, but he can no longer have the last word.

    20. If you were stranded on a desert island with one Star Wars character, who would you want it to be and why?

Barriss Offee, Bultar Swan, Depa Billaba, Adi Gallia, Luminara Unduli, Jania Solo, Mara Jade, and the list of female Jedi goes on. Any one of them. Even if I don't have Jedi powers, these beautiful women could teach me a lot.

  6. "6. Which character had the most unsatisfying death in the original trilogy?

Obi-wan. I almost cried. That's saying a lot for me. I cheered when Travis shot Ol' Yeller."

    SPOILER ALERT!! sheesh!

    haha just kidding.

"14. What’s your favorite ship or vehicle from the prequel trilogy?

Qui-gon's transport from the beginning of Menace."

Why can't I recall what this looks like. Post a link pleeeeeeease.

You're responses made for a great read and reminder of how great Star Wars is as a whole. Excellent job with this.

I'd love to read some more responses from others.
