The 'Voltron' Team Gets The Perillo Treatment...

I have always been a big fan of Dave Perillo's work, pretty much since I started checking out artists on the web back in 2007 or 2008. I had the pleasure of meeting Dave at the 2013 Wizard World Comic Show with Tom Whalen, and the dudes were super humble for such talented and popular guys. They downplayed who they were and how popular they were, and were selling prints for really cheap... but the dopest thing was how cool they really were. Just fun guys. Dave is currently participating in a Voltron exhibit at Acidfree Galleries with a bunch of artists, and his might be the best of the bunch. His style shines through, and I was immediately taken back to the early 80s due to the fact that Perillo included the team as well as the big guy. Another well executed piece from a modern master. Wishbook Pages From Christmas Past

At this time of year I get nostalgic for the best parts of Christmas from my childhood and there was truly nothing better than looking at the toys in the Sears Wishbook catalogue. For a collector like me it's great to see all the accessories and vehicles you could get to go with the terrific action figures from those times. Just look at those PRICES! If I ever get my time machine to work I will head straight to the 70s. With 100 dollars I could go to any year in that decade and buy everything on the page. This Voltron Cosplay Is The Truth....

I came across this unreal cosplay project over at Geeks Are Sexy that features one of the most intense and intricate pieces of Cosplay ever created and executed. Voltron was probably my favorite 80s cartoon, even higher on the list than He-Man, G.I. Joe, or Thundercats. But given the fact that Voltron is a 100 story robot, the chances of him being the subject of cosplay is usually not an option. But size did not stop this talented group of cosplayers as they created 5 individual lions that all could be assembled to form a complete Voltron robot. Holy. Fucking .Shit. Join Or Die by Olly Moss

Olly Moss is a legend in the fan art game, and he stuff really kills. I usually don't post much of his stuff up here on CCD because his work gets put up on SO MANY websites. But I couldn't possibly ignore this incredible piece he put together featuring Voltron. Moss decided to take his mash up to the 18th century with a classic remix of the 'Join or Die' flag from the US Revolution and added his own geek spin to it with every bodies favorite 5 Lions. Even though I was a huge He-Man, G.I. Joe and Transformers fan growing up in the 80's, there was really only one cartoon that did it for me... Voltron!!! Voltron was such a fun show, and I couldn't get enough of it. The notion that 5 kids were controlling these  robotic lions was so cool, and the super robot that the lions formed was insane. They fought crazy aliens, dealt with each others antics, and ended each episode with an epic robot battle where someone was gonna get a sword to the head. It was a ton of fun!!!  I also had the die cast metal version of the Voltron robot, and those puppies weighed about 5 lbs each and could concuss a child if they were used as a weapon... It's a new year here at CCD, but our contributors both near and far are promising for a big one in 2012. Robert Burden Takes You Behind The Scenes In Creating Geek Art Masterpieces!!!

Just because an artists likes to paint geeky items doesn't meet he isn't a serious artist. Even though Robert Burden may be creating works of art portraying properties such as Star Wars and Thundercats, these are fantastic oil paintings that require a huge amount of work ethic and skill. Oh, and they look amazing!!! The colors, the detail, and the sheer size on these pieces put Burden in a class all by himself. Don't you love living in the era of the fan film? While most of them are pretty lame, usually from trying too hard, there are a few that sneak in that are absolutely perfect. Made by smart filmmakers who use their resources well and take a less is more approach, it's amazing how they can nail character and mood in such a small form.

Voltron, Superheroes & Indy... Oh My by Soliton

I came across artist Soliton's art page a few days ago and I am completely enamored by his awesome work. To be honest, besides how great the artwork is itself (this kids got talent for sure!) Lego Iconic Vol #1

I am such a huge Lego nerd that words can not explain. Soooo I've decided to use my favorite blog site CCD.com as an outlet to get some of this stuff that I see every day, built out of bricks, out of my skull and onto the blogosphere where it can't hurt my cerebral cortex.
