CCD Invades The Quentin vs. Coen Art Show!!!

I am a huge supporter of fan art, or art that is inspired by and features different takes on characters from an existing piece of work. Spoke Art is sponsoring a wonderful exhibit of fan art featuring the characters of Quentin Tarantino & The Coen Brother's movies at the Bold Hype Gallery... and boy is it a hell of good exhibit! The show runs from April 7th-April 9th, features over 100 artists, and they are serving White Russians free of charge... The Dude Abides!!!!

My good friend and awesome artist Tommy Lombardozzi  accompanied me to the exhibit, and we had a great time. Here we are in front of the centerpiece of the show, The Dude & Jules by artist Greg Gossel:

Tara Reid Plays EVERYBODY In 'The Big Lebowski Pt. 2'

Stay classy Ms Reid....

A few months back, Tara Reid gave some drunk rambling on how she was looking forward to the start of filming on 'The Big Lebowski Pt. 2'. She couldn't wait to get cracking... trouble was, nobody else remotely new what the fuck she was talking about. Not the John Goodman, not Jeff Bridges, and definitely not the Coen Brothers. This lead to more redicule for the down and out Reid.... so what did she do? She teamed up with Funny or Die to make her version of 'The Big Lebowski Pt. 2'.

This is why anybody can become and stay famous now-a-days. She makes some retarded comment about a classic movie, everyone makes her look like the dumbass she is, and then they make a parody video starring her... WTF!!!! Pretty funny anyway... hope you enjoy.

CCD Jacks The Oscars - Year 2: Mike D's Oscar Picks

Another year in film has come and gone and, my, what a year it's been. The Academy Awards air live this Sunday February 27th and a lot of us will be front and center for all the action!

While my addiction to movies (via Netflix Instant or in the theater) is well documented on this blog, it should come as no surprise that I take the Oscars quite seriously. Why you ask? Because I know that they are a 50/50 representation of everything I love about film. They represent 50% of whats right with making films, and 50% of what sucks about the film making industry. Excellent films like 'Winter's Bone' (this year) and 'Frozen River' (2 years ago) would never be known to the public at all if not for the Oscar nods they got. Would 'The King's Speech really have made over $100 million if it wasn't Oscars darling this season? I think not. But it's not all roses. The Oscars also represent the conformity that is required in Hollywood to get the nominations, let alone win an Oscar. Honestly, how can you snub Chris Nolan for 'Best Director', or never nominate a horror film for any awards despite how wildly popular they are (check the numbers... horror makes bank, son). I have seen all 10 of this years 'Best Film' nominees, and frankly the only one I can see myself constantly revisiting would be 'Inception' and 'True Grit'. That's not to say I didn't like the others... I just didn't LOVE them. I saw plenty of other films this year that I did love (um... Scott Pilgrim anyone?), yet they are missing. So it goes.

Joel and Ethan Coen... True Grit remake... Jeff Bridges... Matt Damon... Josh Brolin... YES PLEASE!!!

Kubrick vs. Scorsese... This Is My Heaven!!!

You ever see that movie "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams? The one where every bodies version of Heaven was what they saw inside their own head... well this is it for me. Welcome to my heaven... A few months back we brought you a video mash up of two great directors... a totally bitching piece of video that spliced the films of Quentin Tarantino & The Coen Brothers together and made for one awesome clip. Now, the editor of that clip, Leandro Copperfield is back. And he has totally outdone himself. This time around, Copperfield decided to merge the works of two phenomenal auteur's. Stanley Kubrick is my all time favorite director, and Martin Scorsese, the man that most consider to be the greatest director still alive today. Think about the classics that will be in this clip: A Clockwork Orange, Taxi Driver, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, Raging Bull, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Goodfellas, DR. Strangelove.... the list goes on and on. Copperfield watched all of these films, picked out his favorite shots, and edited together this small piece of miracle. Tarantino/Coen Brothers Awesomeness Courtesy Of Elizabeth Banks

If you don't know who Elizabeth Banks is, then you must live under a f'n rock... or maybe you are stuck in some Avatar body on Pandora... either way, you better make sure you know who this chick is. She starred in Zack and Miri Make A Porno, but has lots of memorable small roles like the book store clerk in The 40 Year Old Virgin and JJ Jameson's secretary in Spiderman . But that's not why she is gracing our presence over here at CCD today. Yesterday, on her twitter account, Ms. Banks posted this amazing link and absolutely made my day. Quentin Tarantino is my favorite director that is still alive (Kubrick is King!!!) and The Coen Brothers are in my top ten filmmakers of all time as well. Both of them have had some great flicks, memorable characters, and awesome soundtracks to accompany their films. So why not mash it up and see what you end up with.
