You Vil Lose by Jon Smith

I posted a few pics of some of my favorite pieces from Spoke Art's 'Mucho Machismo' art show a few weeks back, but after seeing this piece over at Super Punch I knew I had to share an update. The piece, entitled 'You Vil Lose' by Jon Smith (you can grab a print for 40 bucks here), is a sick mash-up of of Rocky IV & Mike Tyson's Punchout, with Ivan Drago standing in for Mike Tyson and Apollo Creed playing a beaten Little Mac. I love this piece so much. Get in there and check it out after the jump....

The 'Mucho Machismo' Art Show From Spoke Art Gallery Takes Us Back To The Good Old Days Of Action Movies

I love me some action movies, especially 80's action movies. There is no debating that the 80's was the golden decade for action films and it's brightest stars. Ah-nald. Sly. Willis. Norris. JCVD. Roddy Piper. Ripley. Need I say more? San Francisco art gallery Spoke Art put together an awesome art show entitled 'Mucho Machismo' that highlighted some of these great moments in action movie history. Prints for the show are on sale here, but you can click after the jump to see my favorite 6 pieces of the bunch. Take a trip down memory lane. Hasta La Vista, baby....

The Horror Die Cut Collection by Max Dalton

Max Dalton is one of those artists that has such a unique style that you can recognize it anywhere you see it. He cranks out tons of cool ass pieces for Spoke Art that put his very own spin on characters that we know and love. But his latest piece is a killer... literally!!! The Horror Die Cut Collection is a piece that features a plethora of the most prolific killers in the history of Cinema. Dalton got all the usual suspects up in there (Freddy, Mike Myers, Jason, Leatherface, etc) and the classics are well represented (Frankenstein, Nosferatu, Dracula, etc).. but it is the more obscure subjects that fill up the poster that really impress me. A faceless Damion from The Omen, Gary Oldman's version of Count Dracula, the VHS tape from The Ring, and the Ventriloquist's Dummy from Magic are just some classic gems that litter this poster. This one brings back a ton of memories. It goes on sale later this week over here, so keep checking in so you don't miss out! You can see the full picture after the jump...

CCD Invades The Quentin vs. Coen Art Show!!!

I am a huge supporter of fan art, or art that is inspired by and features different takes on characters from an existing piece of work. Spoke Art is sponsoring a wonderful exhibit of fan art featuring the characters of Quentin Tarantino & The Coen Brother's movies at the Bold Hype Gallery... and boy is it a hell of good exhibit! The show runs from April 7th-April 9th, features over 100 artists, and they are serving White Russians free of charge... The Dude Abides!!!!

My good friend and awesome artist Tommy Lombardozzi  accompanied me to the exhibit, and we had a great time. Here we are in front of the centerpiece of the show, The Dude & Jules by artist Greg Gossel:
