7 Reasons Why Luke’s Not the Villain In Star Wars: The Force Awakens by James West

First of all, full disclaimer: if he is, then, well, I’ll look foolish. And hate JJ Abrams. But, as detailed below, I really, really doubt it.

There’s much buzz around the internet lately, and by lately I mean since the first Episode VII trailer came out last year, about the Force Awakens. Which makes sense, it’s arguably the most anticipated movie...ever? And certainly projected to be a blockbuster behemoth. Moreover, very rarely do we have a pop culture movie that seems *important* - but this does. Important to the fans, important to cinema, important to anyone who values the story from the Holy Trilogy (I don’t hate the prequels, but that’s a discussion for another day). But, now, those values are under attack – attack by sensationalist journalists and the people who share their articles. The most outrageous of these claims? That Luke Skywalker is the villain in The Force Awakens. Why? Why would someone make that claim? Who would think to create a theory so maligned with the original movies?

Rob Duenas Takes On The Star Wars Universe Via His Sketchcraft Blog

Rob Duenas is an artist that runs a very interesting art blog. Sketchcraft is a place where Duenas posts his current works of art, but he does so in a very interesting way. He posts multiple steps of the process that goes into creating a particular piece. His 'work in progress' pieces taking you through a step by step process of how a finish piece gets that way. It is a unique process that most artists don't really like to show. Whether or not they don't want to divulge their techniques, or if they just don't want a non-finished work seeing the light of critiques... it is rare that we get a glimpse into the whole process. What is real cool is that he posts different pieces at different stages of completion, and so you are never really zoomed in on one particular piece of his. You are seeing many different steps of creation for multiple pieces at once.... a great idea. His latest series happens to take on one of my favorite character groups, the Star Wars universe. Boba, Chewie, Han, Leia, Luke and Vader... yup, the gang is all here. You can see plenty of Duenas work on his Deviant Art page, and you can see his constantly 'work in progress' pieces update constantly on his Sketchcraft Tumblr. You can also see the Star Wars pieces after the jump...

Where The Wild Star Wars Things Are by James Hance

Where The Wild Things & Star Wars are two of my all time favorite properties since I was a youngster... Wild Things was the FIRST book I ever recall reading on my own in school (the first day of kindergarten... whatup Ms. Adler!). Anyway, here is artist James Hance's take on the two... a masterpiece in its execution!

Via Popped Culture, one of the best websites doin it!!!

This Is The Way It Should Have Went Down Between Luke & Vader

Family Guy's Blue Harvest Still Cracks Me Up

I was watching Family Guy's first Star Wars special, Blue Harvest, this weekend with son Mikey and it still cracks me up. Here are my favorite scenes:

The X Wing Attack On The Death Star:

Obi Wan Sings "Time of my Life" to Luke:

Cantina Band Takes Requests:

Say what you want about Lucas, but I think its cool that he lets shows like Robot Chicken, Family Guy and movies like Fan Boys exist to praise and satire the Star Wars franchise. He could be a dick and sue these guys, but he embraces it... and it cracks me up everytime!

This Is The Cover Of Todays NY Post... And It's Awesome!!!

The NY Post is a tabloid, which is different then a newspaper. It means that while they report the news similar to a newspaper, they have the freedom to take some artistic liberties that newspapers like the NY Times would never take. This shows up mostly in creative headlines and covers. None have ever been better then the cover of today's sports section. It is in reference to this weekends Jets vs Patriots playoff matchup and it uses a Star Wars: Return of the Jet-i theme... oh yeah, and its awesome!

Why is this great? Here are my reasons:
  1. Mark Sanchez as Luke and Bill Belicheck as Darth Vader. The Pats have pretty much owned Sanchez, so calling Belicheck his daddy may be an unintentional dig on the Jets QB by the hometown paper.
  2. Rex Ryan as Han Solo. That is wonderful. I would have liked it if the big mouth Jets coach was Jabba the Hut, but whatever.
  3. Ryan's foot fetish loving wife as Slave Leia... perfect.
  4. Revis as Obi Wan.... nice touch.
  5. The old sage Joe Namanth as Yoda... thats great.
  6. The Jets logo (a jet) attacking the Death Star is cool.
  7. Why does Tom Brady have no costume. They should have made him Vader and Belicheck The Emperor. Either that or Boba Fett. Even though Brady is nowhere near as useless as Fett (Brady is a football god), Fett is amazingly popular.
  8. Where is Chewy, The Droids and the aforementioned Boba Fett!!!!!! You can't have a Return of the Jedi without those guys
  9. This is the 3rd matchup of these teams this week, and Jedi is the 3rd Star Wars flick... good matchup!
Very clever... well done NY Post. The game is on Sunday. I hope the Pats kill the Jets. Long Live the Dark Side!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charlie Skywalker, Fighter Pilot

Check out this very cool sculpture by artist Tom Torrey of Charlie Brown as Luke Skywalker in his X Wing fighter pilot suit. Pretty cool, no? Ya gotta love Snoopy as R2-D2 as well. This sculpture was a personal gift for a friend, but Torrey has an ETSY store where you can buy some of his art. Very cool stuff as well. Enjoy.

Thanks to Great White Snark for another wonderful find!

The Star Wars Cast Invades Hoth... Oops, I Mean Brooklyn During The Blizzard Of 2010

Wow, these photoshopped images of everyones favorite Star Wars characters trying to make their way through Brookly during the Blizzard of 2010 are absolutely awesome. Photographer Harry Hargreaves plugged in all the usual suspects since BK began to look much more like Hoth than I care for it to... whenever you open your door and have a waist height pile of snow staring back at you, you definetly wish it was an AT-AT or an Imperial Cruiser picking you up instead of the R train. Anyways, enjoy the pictures... great job Harry!!!

Behind The Scenes Of Star Wars...

Thanks to our contributor and CCD resident attorney Joe Esq, we get some behind the scenes shots from the Star Wars orginal trilogy. From the looks of some of these photos, it wasn't all kessel runs and force chokes going on in that galaxy far, far away. Here is a look at our favorites, with captions provided by yours truly. Click here to see the ones that weren't CCD worthy. They are all cool, but these were the ones we like the best:

Beach balls are much better than Hutt balls...

I'm gonna wax that Space Pirate ass...

She Ain't My Sister....

As my man Joe Quinn would say: "That dude is wearing a Capital V neck shirt son!!!"

Which one is the sister again???

The Hutt's love their slave sluts with a tan son!!!

"You guys find anything?" "Nah man, we ain't found shit!!!"

Put the Chewy mask back on Pete... it's an improvement!!!
"Alright, which one of you rebel dicks stole my chest armor???"
After a long day on set, I just want to "UN-WIND"... get it?

So, which ones do you like the best? Tell us in the comment section below... and dont be shy, make up some of your own captions as well!!!
