For a long time I was one of the dissenting internet trolls who constantly questioned casting decisions. The turning point for me was The Dark Knight... I couldn't believe that they cast Heath Ledger as the Joker, and then he proceeded to kill. So after that I decided to ease off on the critiques till AFTER someone actually performs in a movie and sucks. I have stuck by that mantra for a while... an honestly, things have not stopped on the Internet critiques but they have been much slower since Ledger-gate. Up until last month, when Ben Affleck was cast as Batman in Batman vs Superman. Then the Internet hatred exploded in a way I have not seen in quite a long time. It was epic. Even among my Facebook friends... nobody thinks that Big Ben could be the Dark Knight. But I believe. I truly do. So everyone has been waiting to hear what Affleck himself had to say about the casting and the fallout. And that came to an end last night after Ben appeared on Jimmy Fallon and gave us a glimpse into what its like to be the most hated man on the Internet. Pretty fantastic reaction, if you ask me. Ben Affleck On The Internet Criticism Of Being The New Batman - "I Handle Shit..."

Blurred Lines: The Kindergarten Edition
Blurred Lines by Robin Thicke ft Pharrell & T.I. has got to be the biggest song of the summer... hands down it is the most played, Couple a dope beat, great singing, a fire 16 bar rap, and an unedited music video featuring topless models has propelled the song to stratospheric proportions. Even though I have heard the song a billion times over the last 3 months, I have to admit that after seeing the following clip from the Jimmy Fallon show that this is the coolest version so far. Fallon enlists the help of his house band, The Roots, and Robin Thicke himself to perform Blurred Lines... but they did it with kindergarten instruments! This isn't the first time we have seen this (Fallon duets with Carly Rae Jepsen & Mariah Carey), but there is something about this one that makes it stand out... and it features a new 16 bar rap from Black Thought! Get back, this is elementary school fire!!! Check out the video after the jump...

Jimmy Fallon, The Roots & Mariah Carey Perform 'All I Want For Christmas' With Kindergarten Instruments... And Kindergartners!!!!
I may not watch Jimmy Fallon's late night show all that often, but I certainly think that the SNL alum has found a certain niche with his quirky musical performances. He has The Roots, the hardest working band in show business, at his disposal. So why not use them as creatively as possible? Fallon taps the gang to utilize kindergarten musical instruments (kazoos, mini xylophone, triangles, etc) and gets the queen of the Christmas song Mariah herself to perform a rendition of her classic 'All I Want For Christmas', and boy is it fantastic. And the four kindergarten kids singing back up... yeah, that is the icing on the cake! Gotta love the creativity. Keep em coming Jimmy!!!! Catch the video after the jump...

Tom Hanks Gets Down On Some Slam Poetry In Honor Of Full House... Wait, What???
There is no debating that Full House is a classic sitcom of legendary status. No matter how corny you think it may be right now, when you were a kid you FUCKING LOVED IT! So it is great when you see some entertainment bigwigs give it props on mainstream TV. Jimmy Fallon recruited the incomparable Tom Hanks to recite a slam poem in tribute to Full House in all it's glory, from Michelle to Comet to Uncle Jesse's hair. It reminds me of that excellent scene from 'So I Married An Axe Murderer' where Mike Myers is reciting poetry in the dark club. So great. This 3 minute clip is absolutely fantastic. Just Another Reason Why 'The Roots' Are One Of The Best Bands In The Business
While The Roots are known as being hip hop giants and pioneers for their integration of live instrumentation, most people do not realize just how musically talented these guys are. They are often called "The hardest working band in show business", and they proved their musical merits to me the other day in a very unconventional way. They are the live band on Jimmy Fallon's talk show every night, and the other day the musical guest was Carly Rae Jepsen. She sings that catchy "Call Me, Maybe" song and is quite cute... but I digress. Before they filmed the show, the Roots joined Fallon & Jepsen in the green room for an impromptu rendition of "Call me, Maybe"... but they played the song with an assortment of kindergarten school instruments!!! They absolutely killed it, and it is great to see such a group of serious musicians having so much fun incorporating kazoos, a small xylophone and tambourines into a pop recreation. Just another reason why The Roots are better than everyone else at what they do. Click after the jump for the full video...

Panthro Hits The Late Night Circuit
I know this clip is from last week, but it got lost in my inbox and I never watched it till this morning. Say what you want about Jimmy Fallon, but he is a true 80s baby and always reps for my age bracket with things that call back to our childhood. Here he features the black Thundercat Panthro singing the Thundercats theme as a lounge singer, accompanied by The Roots & two hottie dancers. Pretty good makeup and funny stuff. Enjoy...

SNL Throwback Of The Week #10, 4/17/2010
I am a huge Saturday Night Live fan. One of my earliest memories was of my parents watching SNL every Saturday while we were tucked in our bedrooms, and sometimes being allowed to watch for a bit. The show has gone through its ups and downs over its 35 year run, but the fact that it is still on the air after 35 years is a testament to the staying power of the show. Lorne Michaels is a genius at finding and developing young, comedic talent. SNL has produced a bevy of stars over the years, from Eddie Murphy to Tina Fey. The show is doing well again thanks to Ms. Fey and the rest of the team, but I love watching clips from the old shows. Every Saturday I will give you guys one of my favorites. This weeks clip features Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon as 2/3 of The BeeGees hosting the Andy Gibb Talk Show. Now I know that your probably saying: "How the hell can that be funny?" But after hearing Jimmy Fallon's dead on inpersonation of Andy Gibb for 2 seconds and you will be rolling. Once you add Justin Timberlake as the semi mute Robin Gibb, the results are excellent. I do not care for Timberlake so much as an musical artist, but he is a very funny actor and truly steals the show every time he is on SNL. Hope you enjoy the clip this week. Thanks to Hulu for the video. Live from my living room... It's Saturday Night!!!

The show is doing well again thanks to Ms. Fey and the rest of the team, but I love watching clips from the old shows. Every Saturday I will give you guys one of my favorites. This weeks clip features Will Ferell in the role of gameshow host Alex Trebek. Celebrity Jeopardy has been one of the all time funniest skits to ever air on SNL. It always features 3 celebrity contestants who are so dumb it is unbearable... unbearable, but hysterical. This episode features Ben Stiller as Tom Cruise, Jimmy Fallon as Adam Sandler, and Darrell Hammond as Sean Connery. For fans of the skit, you all know how great Hammond/Connery can be. If you never seen the skit... well then you better clear an hour of your schedule because you will be on youtube after this watching all the Celebrity Jeopardy skits. Live from my living room... It's Saturday Night!!!!
