This is how CCD does Valentines Day... we geek it out! These cards were collected from various outlets around the Internet and I honestly believe that these are the best ways for a fellow geek to express his love to his significant other. I was over at Topless Robot (wow, Rob does run a great site!) and I seen this awesome animated trailer that mashes up Super Friends with the Golden Girls. I honestly didn't wake up this morning ever thinking that I was going to type a line like that... but running a blog like CCD makes things like that possible! I love quirky videos like this, and you gotta love the character choices. Superman as Blanche is probably the funniest... It seems the animation was rotoscoped over the actual opening credits of the show ala A Scanner Darkly/The Polar Express (I am fairly certain that the Superman/Blanche sache and Robin/Sophia at the front door were exact scenes from the opening scene) Check out the video after the jump!!!
There is no more powerful tool that I use in my daily fight against the man's oppression then good ole Wiki! While the information is not always 100% accurate (the info is user uploaded, but is mostly a very good source of info!) it can't be rivaled by any other site for sheer information amount. I love Wiki, and I use it in almost every blog post I write. Hey Wiki... Thanks for being a friend (Golden Girls voice)...
You guys probably remember Rue Mcclanahan as the man crazed Blanche Devereux on The Golden Girls... she was TV original cougar. Playing a 55+ year old women who still liked to get some nookie, her character was the person who owned the house where the other elderly women lived. The show ran from 1985 to 1992, and she won the Emmy award in 1987 as outstanding lead actress. Golden Girls was the second sitcom she had been featured on with Bea Arthur, having previously played Arthur's best friend Vivian on the show Maude. She was also a very successful stage actress. Lets face it... when you were a kid in the 80's, she was the character on TV you knew was getting ass... she was the one you knew was knocking boots. Looking back, that was refreshing, cause often those roles were reserved for men... think Sam Malone (Ted Danson) in Cheers. Rue passed on yesterday after suffering a stroke in NYC. She was 76. She will be missed. This leaves 88 year old Betty White as the sole surviving member of the Golden Girl cast. You will be missed Rue... THANK YOU FOR BEING A FRIEND!!! (I had too...)
