Hobbits Be Crazy: Check Out Elijah Wood In The New Trailer For 'Maniac'

'Maniac' was one of the craziest movies ever made, and way back in 1980 helped jump start the slasher genre. The movie had iconic VHS box art and was a staple of any horror fan who rented movies from their local mom & pop video shop. The unique Point Of View shots and the awesome early special effects of Tom Savini all made the film quite perfect. So when I heard that they were going to remake the film, as a true horror fan I was a little skeptical. Especially when they added the hobbit man himself Elijah Wood as the title character... how the fuck was Frodo going to scare anybody? Well, one way to get this one right is to add Alejandre Aja to the mix as a producer. The guy is one of the few people in the horror industry who gets it, and has a very strong tie to the original films in this classic genre. The second thing to do would be to release a red band trailer showing Mr. Wood acting "Maniacal"... and holy shit it works!!! Check out this very cool short film, The Death & Return of Superman by Max Landis. If the name sounds familiar, that is because Max is the son of famous film director John Landis. He is also a now successful screenwriter, ever since his newest script 'Chronicle' opened up at #1 in the box office this week. Anywho, here is Max's riff on the whole "Death of Superman" debacle by DC Comics, and its quite funny. He even has pals like Elijah Wood, Simon Pegg, and Ron Howard along for the ride. What Happened After The Party???

That's the question that Beastie Boy & short film director Adam Yauch is going to answer in Fight For You Right Revisted. Yauch takes a look back at the events that immediately followed the raucous party in the Beastie Boys seminal hit "Fight For Your Right (To Party!!!)". I always loved the Beastie Boys... one of the reasons was probably because they had a member named Mike D! It was always cool rapping those parts of the song when he would say his name. But even though the premise of this short film sounds great enough, Yauch has put together a star studded dream team of a cast to bring it to life. Here are the films version of The Beastie Boys:

Yup, that is Seth Rogen, Elijah Wood, and El Flama Blanca himself Danny McBride playing the classic hip hop trio!!!! You gotta be kidding me. Not to mention that the film will also feature John C Reilly, Will Ferrell & Jack Black... I can not wait for this one. I love the way they meticulously recreated the outfits the guys wore in the original video. Check out the 1986 video, and stay tuned for more news on when & where us regular folks can see this one.
