Mike Vazquez Has Some Dope SD Comic Con 2014 Exclusives Ready For The Show!!!

We are on the cusp of this years San Diego Comic Con, and show exclusives from everyone involved are starting to crop up all in our Feedly feed. One of the coolest ones so far mashes up what will probably be 2 of the biggest comic book movies of 2014: Days of Future Past & Guardians of the Galaxy. Artist Mike Vasquez abandons his typical Adventure Time inspired creations to create a variant cover/poster that features everyone's favorite Raccoon in the role of Wolverine and the rest of the Guardians supporting cast on the posters behind him. He means business, and this is a great interpretation of the classic cover of issue X-Men #141. The piece was a combined effort creation between Vasquez and LogicFun (an artist from France who colored the piece). Vasquez also has some dope stickers featuring Groot, Star Lord Gamorra and Rocket (yeah, no Drax... weird), and a bunch of team Adventure Time inspired prints (Friday is Nintendo characters, Saturday is Guardians, and Sunday is Spidey & the Sinister 6) that are limited and only available at Vasquez's table. He also has a cool 35 page sketch book available for purchase. As someone who has followed Vasquez's art for a while, you will be blown away by both the look of the pieces as well as the quality of the prints. Even Though We Got A Shit Ton Of Characters In Days of Future Past, They Wanted To Give Us Even More!!!!

So a lot of the characters that made there way into X-Men: Days of Future Past were placed in there to correct continuity errors in the last few movies, lay groundwork for future movies, and of course to sell more merchandise. But despite that fact that we seen over 20 X-Men, many villains, and probably a few hidden gems (I see you little Cable... I see you) there were a few characters that got left on the cutting room floor. One of the was Juggernaut... played pretty great by Vinnie Jones in the train wreck that was X-Men: The Last Stand. He got some cool screen time, and I for one would have liked him back. But since he didn't make the cut, there is no harm in leaking a few concept art pics on how he may have looked in the "future". There are two pics, both full body shots that are quite similar but show different masks that he may have sported. I like the look... it is very much like the comic version, modernized & practical. And its minus the giant dome piece (which I always loved, but looks dumb as shit). Check the two pics after the jump...

Why 'The Wolverine' Is The Best Thing To Happen To The Character In A Long Time: A Rant by Mike CCD

I am never one who pulls punches or doesn't like to give an opinion. I have definitely never been accused of being afraid to open my mouth and voice my opinion. If anything I have been accused of making excuses for things that I enjoy even if they are considered to be shitty (John Carter was fantastic... fuck all you haters!) At the ripe old age of 34 I firmly believe that I am living in the midst of the Geek Golden Era. With comic books, movies, TV shows, and everything else blurring together, I am getting everything I ever wanted in life handed down to me. 10-12 years ago I could never imagine the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that culminated in The Avengers. Even after groundbreaking movies like Raimi's Spider-Man & Singer's X-Men, we were much more prone to see missteps like Electra, The Punisher and Daredevil rather than epic movies like Watchmen & The Dark Knight. But lately things have been much more hit than miss. Sure, you still get some stinkers... but for the most part, geek movies/TV are getting it right. Why is it all coming together? I think 'The Wolverine' provides us with a perfect explanation of whats right & wrong with geek entertainment culture today. Check out exactly what I mean after the jump...

Peter Dinklage Joins Cast Of X-Men: Days Of Future Past

Check out the cast to this film. Everyone has a reputation for signing onto quality projects which gives me hope that they will do this story justice. It's one of the great X-men tales of all time and opened the door to the best of the alternate reality X-Men stories like Age of Apocalypse. I hope that Dinklage is playing Puck who is a welcome addition to any X-Man story. It would be cool to see him tumbling into things creating havoc. Check out the pics and more after the jump....
