Custom Painted Kicks From Across The Pond

My god these are some fine ass hand painted Nikes if I have ever seen 'em... these are killers. Artist Daniel Reese and the guys over at Brass Monki in England are painting just about whatever your little heart desires onto some White on White Dunks, and they are doing it well. Now although Nike and other companies frequently feature sneakers that are "inspired" by a character or movie, Brass Monki will give you the specific details from any inspiration you may have. Check those "Ultimate Captain America" joints above... briliant!!! Here are a few of the designs that I liked the best. Sneaker Freak Vol. #3 - Nike SB Dunk High QS "Lost: Oceanic Airlines"

Anybody who is a fan of the hit TV show Lost knows that the doomed flight that took our beloved "Losties" down to the island was Oceanic Flight 815. The dreaded flight left Sydney, Australia bound for LAX airport in California. Judging from the immense popularity of the show, it safe to say you know they never quite made it there. Well, they kinda did, but only after time traveling... but then they wanted to go back, so they time jumped again... but then... ahhh, forget about the crazy timeline of the show. Lets focus on the kicks  inspired by the worst airline in history:

Let me start by saying that these kicks are not my faves when it comes to the colorways. They are a little to colorful, even for me. When I Nike IDed a pair of Air Max 97's at the Nike Studio, I made "Lost Inspired" Sneakers as well. But I went for the jungle theme, using a bunch of browns and greens. These puppies are using the colors of the Oceanic Logo above, and in that case the colors are appropriated well.

The sneaker features what Nike calls Chlorine and Germaine Blue and have a white swoosh. The one thing I hate about Dunks is when the midsole is white on a sneaker that is mad colorful. This does not happen here. Nike gets this one right by making the midsole dark blue as well. The kicks come with white and pink laces... I perfer the white laces. But the craziest part about these kicks is the insoles. The feature maps of Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles, California... the original departure and destination points of Flight 815. Sneaker Freak Vol. #2 - Nike Kill Bill Kicks Are Deadlier Then The Bride Herself

Seeing this new pack of sneakers from Nike has proven to me that there must be a God... and not only is there a God, but he is listening TO ME. I have prayed for a collaboration between Nike and Tarantino, my favorite sneaker company and movie director, respectfully. These kicks are fire, and the thing that seperates this pack from the others is that BOTH pairs are hot... usually one pair is dope and the other is wack. Not the case here. Nike really got this one right. Beatrix Kiddo herself could be proud of these.

Let's break this wonderful pack down:


First up is the Big Nike High... breathtaking.

I love the all black uppers with the yellow base on the sole. The blood stains smeared on the side represent all the assasins that The Bride had to kill in order to get to the boss, Bill himself. The silver swoosh represents the blade of her Hatori Hanzo sword... these are beautiful kicks.

These are some of the nice collabo kicks I have ever seen. They really make you see the original work represented in the sneakers.

Next up we have the Nike Autoflight High:

These are not as fly as the ones above, but they are dope in their own right. All red suede uppers represent all the blood shed in Tarantino's gore fest, while the yellow inner sole is reminiscent of Uma Thurman's jumpsuit.

They are a nice pair of complementary kicks to the above pair, really embodying the spirit of the movies. Nike got this one right... but that is not it.

Look at the Inner Soles... its a hit list. Kobe Bryant's nickname is the Black Mamba, same as Thurman's character in the movie. The first two names on the list are Ray Allen and Paul Pierce, and they are crossed of cause Kobe beat them last year for the championship. The last three names are obscured, perhaps representing future conquest for Kobe and the Lakers. All in all, these are a must cop... go get em!!!! 

Sneaker Freak Vol. 1: February Release

For those of you who do not know me, I am a sneaker freak. I have over 200 pairs of kicks and I love everything sneaker. My only problem is that I have lost the passion to want all the new releases that come out. Maybe its due to to many shoes being released every week, or maybe its due to the fact that punks wait on line to cop a pair of J's to turn right around and try to sell them for double. I hate that shit. I buy my kicks to wear them, I buy them cause I think there fly... not because its some collabo with another company that results in a must have fugly sneaker.

With that, I came across some pics of two upcoming releases from Jordan Brand. February is always a big month for #23... He always dropped the first edition of his new sneakers right before the NBA All Star break, usually the 2nd week in February. This year, the first Feb release will be a pair of Retro Jordan 6's in White/Black



These are a beautiful color combo from the model that the Jordan Brand has retroed the least. Both the Carmine 6's and The Black/Gold DMP came in a pack, so these are a long time coming. The Black/Red 6's were released last week and the Jordan guys promise more 6's to come.

The other news is on the New Jordan front. After the 23rd edition, the brand stopped using numbers and started using the year. This years 2010 model is hot, and is sure to be a great shoe to ball in (as most of the newer J's are). Here they are:



But the real news surrounding this new release is that they will be the first shoe worn by the newest member of Team Jordan, Dwanye Wade!!!! Here is a pic of Wade and His Airness....
